  1. So things are looking up right? https://www.af.mil/Portals/1/documents/SECAF/160819_Fact_Sheet.pdf?ver=2016-08-19-123457-803
  2. 2 Nav's didn't make it through UPT - got a FEB waiver (leadership supported) and went back to being Navs. The one I regularly talk to is doing really well. PM me if you want direct contact.
  3. I love papers like this, great read and thanks for the link. Pretty much says the more things change, the more things stay the same. Also, that the "boots on the ramp" was an effective policy to make sure people signed the bonuses.
  4. Bonus take rates updated today, CAO 1 Aug for Pilots: FY16: 42.9% (FY15: 217, FY16: 105, total 322 out of 750 eligible) FY17: 24.8% (FY16: 203, total 203 of 820 eligible) 60 days left.
  5. I too have met a few people who lllooovvveee OPRs and medal writing and being a CEO's assistant. A CSS with a personnelist and 2-6 airmen would be amazing. Anyways, I 100% believe nothing is going to change until at a minimum, DOPMA changes.
  6. That came across as speculation/rumor mill, I linked an authoritative source.
  7. Sooo... from the 2017 NDAA... https://www.congress.gov/bill/114th-congress/house-bill/4909/text#toc-HDC9038B759FE4D75B5F984E757E62856 SEC. 616. INCREASE IN MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF AVIATION SPECIAL PAYS FOR FLYING DUTY. Section 334(c)(1) of title 37, United States Code, is amended by striking subparagraphs (A) and (B) and inserting the following new subparagraphs: “(A) aviation incentive pay under subsection (a) shall be paid at a monthly rate not to exceed $1,000 per month; and “(B) an aviation bonus under subsection (b) may not exceed $60,000 for each 12-month period of obligated service agreed to under subsection (d).”.
  8. I had a reply typed out, but deleted it except to remind you that this isn't 2007 anymore. Please try not to come across as an institutionalized MSgt or you will lose all credibility to your audience, especially here. The era of the USAF saying "lol if you don't like it get out" is over because people are actually getting out (for pilots, in record numbers.) Here's some reading material: https://money.cnn.com/2016/05/23/news/economy/us-full-employment-williams/ https://www.timesrecordnews.com/news/local/sheppard-af-dealing-with-pilot-shortage-32953919-206e-55c1-e053-0100007fafc7-379165641.html https://www.commercialappeal.com/business/FedEx-ramps-up-pilot-hiring-to-avert-shortage-378450511.html
  9. If the POTUS were micromanaging USAF additional duties, promotion requirements, non-vol assignments and manpower reductions, we'd be raging at the POTUS. The problem comes from USAF/A1 and the middle management between Wings and the CSAF.
  10. BAMF, who are you? Every one of your posts is raging against Obama. I suggest you re read our daily complaints and realize that the POTUS has very little to do with our gripes.
  11. First off, nothing's certain until it actually happens. There are lots more rumors then facts. I've taken a few surveys on my thoughts of a 10 yr ADSC + 5 years reserve, but the only place I've seen a 15 year AD commitment discussed is here. Secondly, you'll sign more ADSC paperwork when you get on AD. Those will be the ones that matter. Finally, the decade+ ADSC paperwork only takes effect from when you complete training. If they change it up after you commission (which would be incredibly poor taste but whatever) you can drop on request from training. While some may frown upon this, it happens enough for it to be considered common. When push comes to shove, people realize they don't want to spend the next 10+ years of doing something they don't thoroughly enjoy.. and we'd rather the student makes the choice in pilot training than once in an AD unit.
  12. It has absolutely nothing to do with the Commander in Chief and everything to do with the personnel policies and requirements the USAF mandates on itself.
  13. Somewhat on this, but when Leadership met with the airlines, the RAND corporation came up with this: https://www.rand.org/pubs/research_reports/RR1412.html

    USAA

Thought I'd bump for some bad life events but good USAA story: Some jackwagons used my USAA Debit Mastercard number in Houston. It seems they tested it on a vending a machine, and after that went through, went on a $500 spending spree at Sams Club. USAA called me (didn't answer strange 800 number) and texted me, listed my last 5 purchases, and when I responded with No, they had me call their Fraud line. Wait on hold was less than 5 seconds, and after short confirmation, shut off the card, is mailing me a new one ("7-10 days") and the Fraud claim + total reimbursement should be completed in 1-2 days. So, pretty happy with that, at least.
  15. McDew because fighter pilot shortage and MAF backfill.
  16. Rated Staff Allocation Plan - basically who is filled to what manning levels. PM me a .mil address and I'll send you a copy.
  17. PM me your .mil address, our wing has some pretty good PowerPoints/info on it
  18. I think people are suspicious because they've been swindled before. If it lasts through the next CSAF or two (next 4-8 years) it'll be culturally ingrained by the next generation that you won't need one. Until then...
  19. B-21 Spirit II
  20. Definitely man, sometimes sarcastic tones doesn't translate well over the internets.
  21. Everything bad is temporary. You can only change things if you want to stay in. Don't be greedy or selfish. Haven't you heard of our second core value, Service Before Self? Nobody joined the military to get rich. I can't be the only one who joined for the honor and privilege of serving my country. You all took an oath. Am I missing any?
  22. Asking for a friend of mine... If you get DNP'd, do you still get IVSP?
  23. Friend posted this on Facebook, can't stop laughing. Excelsior!
  24. Sent an email about potential RC-135 designs
