  1. At some point you have to say: it is time to go. You then have to ask yourself: is it that time. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
  2. But that's thousands of dollars! We don't have the money to just go and buy a pilot slot! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
  3. Well at least I have a positive attitude! It's not like there's much choice so you will just have to make your peace with it. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
  4. Ok well since we're new to this we have to ask: is the money worth it and what would you be doing as a civilian? It's important to look at the contributions you get to make and have the perspective that you get to do something very few people get the chance to do. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
  5. Ok sure, that is a dilemma. The questions im going to ask are ones that haven't been brought up yet. My friend, have you been flying yet? Try getting a few hours and see if you really enjoy it and want that to be your job. The second question i would ask is what do you plan to do for your civilian job? You will be missing out on a lot of money by not going active. Sorry but I'm just trying to bring up some things to think about before you go through with this Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
  6. Well sorry but we can't all fly fighters. And I hear those are hardly dropping anymore. Id rather fly something with weapons than a heavy anyway, who cares if it's an rpa. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
  7. Well this is an important job and someone has to do it! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
  8. What is it about being rpa that is so terrible? ?? I'm in urt and am enjoying it so far, and wondering what we have to look forward to. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
  9. Hello friend. The most important thing is to first ignore the whining you find on this board. Yes lots of people are being sent to rpas but it's an awesome assignment and honestly you take what they give you and do your best. Don't let the negativity you see here discourage you. An amazing adventure awaits! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
  10. Why do they have us flying the WORST airplane imaginable? ?? I should've just gotten my ppl on my own! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
  11. I see how it is. Ill be sure to tell my fellows that you people are no help at all! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
  12. STILL waiting. .... Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
  13. WE are WAITING to get paid Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
  14. Why are the rights of gun toting thugs held in higher esteem than people's basic right to life? Why are people so paranoid and fearful that they feel the need to walk around armed to the teeth? What if there were a few armed people at this tragic scene? Carnage and more deaths would be likely. No amount of armed vigilantes could've stopped this man. 15. It is now EASY so we can baby everyone through Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
  16. Actually guys it looks like we were overreacting. It turns out they agree with me and I can live off base after all! Nothing to worry about now except finding a nice apartment Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
  17. Well that would've been nice to know in advance! We want to live together Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
  18. My afsc is 92t3 and I'm going to Randolph. And that's not fair at all, where is my girlfriend supposed to live then? That's really discriminatory against unmarried couples! I didn't do all this work to go back to a dorm room! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
  19. I see. So basically to live on base they're going to force us to marry. Well I refuse and I will be looking at off base housing for sure! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
  20. Hi, I'm a newly commissioned Lt and my report date is 26 July. I've been given a little bit of direction from my cadre but I really have no idea what I'm doing here! I emailed the HMO for the base and hopefully will hear back from them soon. I was told that I shouldn't look at any off base apartments until I check with them otherwise I could end up paying for an apartment but being forced to live in a dorm on the base! I don't know what kind of options they even have for us, I am single but my girlfriend plans to move in with me a few months later so I'm not sure if she would even be able to live on the base with me. And going into a dorm room would absolutely be the last option I would pick! Thanks for any help y'all can provide me.
  21. I had a few questions about this issue. 1. Being able to choose any airframe/any base sounds really tempting, but being in the reserves sounds like an awful deal compared to AD. On the retirement benefits alone that is tens of thousands of dollars that you are missing out on if you choose to leave after 20 years. 2. What are the odds of being able to find another flying job with the airlines? And isn't this distracting to have to do that job and be in the military at the same time? 3. So reserves offer no BAH or BAS... do they offer any assistance with repaying school loans? I am really having a hard time figuring out why anybody would choose reserves right from the beginning. The only reason that I would switch is if you really do have that many options about what you will be flying. I would much rather be in manned aircraft than doing RPA, but RPA doesn't sound bad at all with all those benefits.
  22. Well I just spoke with my PAS who told me that he had seen a reserve guy while he was at Maxwell. And it sounds like they are begging people to come fly for them! To the point where you can just about choose any base/any airframe that you want. I was picked up for RPA and am about to graduate but I am definitely considering going to reserve if I can really choose any airframe!
