Quick sidebar: I wanted to point out that PA or the esteemed editors over at Airforcetimes.com have once again absolutely nailed their reporting.

Got a security warning from the iPhone logging on tonight. The standard, “this website is not secure.”

Get rich scheme for someone along the way. Pay to get your “I wanna be airline pilot” card and you have to carry it with you during flight.

Best chances for fighters.. AD or Reserves?
mp5g replied to a1caustinp3's topic in Pilot Selection Process
I actually think he was real. The reason I say that was I’m pretty sure he rushed our unit and we agreed to interview him before we found out about his online persona. Can’t remember all the details as I’ve had a scotch or two or 690 since then, but it seems to be in the ballpark of possible. He was not hired if that wasn’t obvious. -
https://siouxlandnews.com/amp/news/local/second-south-dakota-air-national-guard-f-16-crashes-at-sioux-falls-airport Rough month for the SD bubbas. Glad the pilots are walking away from the accidents.

Our union stated that is a real thing that people are asking about on the hill right now.

SocialD, you should feel privileged. You are literally living the real life “checks in the mail” maxim. Your check has just been in the mail for 4+ years.

Last night, LGA changed from landing on 31 and departing on 4 to landing on 4 and departing on 13. The pure shit show that was ground talking to everyone was hilarious. Added hilarity when company maintenance would chime in to ask if they could move a piece of equipment, right after ground gave a lengthy clearance and was awaiting read back.

Not a movie, but if you have Amazon Prime, I’d recommend checking out Counterpart. It premiered on Starz back in 2017; interesting concept and really entertaining. And yeah, boo China. They’re the worst. This shit didn’t fly when Harvey Weinstein ran Hollywood. #justsayin /s

Bring back Congressional term limits. I happen to believe that if people weren’t so invested in protecting their cash cow job that serving in Congress has become for their entire adult lives, you’d see more compromise on issues. That’s just me. But I think we all know that dude or dudette who has stuck around in a job a little too long and refuses to change with the times because, dammit, that’s what they’ve always done. Periodically hitting refresh is not a bad thing, IMO.

Agreed. Most recent 11-202v3 guidance is a good thing to keep in mind: 1.8. Violations. A violation (pilot deviation) may result when a USAF aircraft deviates from a flight rule. FAA air traffic control (ATC) deviation reports involving USAF aircraft are processed by the Air Force Representative to the FAA (AFREP) in accordance with Department of the Air Force Manual (DAFMAN) 13-201, Airspace Management. USAF ATC deviation reports involving USAF aircraft are processed in accordance with AFI 91-202, The U.S. Air Force Mishap Prevention Program. Violations that occur in the airspace of foreign nations are processed in accordance with the procedures of that nation. 1.8.1. If a unit or pilot is notified by an air traffic controller or AFREP of a possible pilot deviation, the unit or pilot shall preserve any available evidence for a minimum of 180 days and contact the AFREP prior to disposal. (T-1) 1.8.2. For any communications involving any alleged violation, utilize aircraft call-sign only and do not release any aircrew member information to non-USAF agencies without the permission of the AFREP in coordination with the MAJCOM/A3 or AF/A3O. (T-1)

I believe that until you are winged, you still fall under initial aircrew. But stuckindayton or someone else with more knowledge can provide the 100% answer.

OCONUS Leave While Mobilized
mp5g replied to nsplayr's topic in Air National Guard / Air Force Reserves
Went on a “deployment” a year and a half ago to Georgia for a Title X federal activation. FlamingTornado has it right. We all took leave for family visits, trips, etc., as long as we had the leave and the commander approved it. -
Had a bro several years ago get in some slight trouble due to some hijinks. Whenever a spare flight cap was found around the squadron, it was quickly turned into a canvas panel, and a dick was drawn in the cap in permanent marker. All fun and good until it occurred to the WG/CC, who was unaware and took his flight cap to an O-6 meeting in D.C., and then subsequently forgot said cap at the table, only for the SARC representative(no shit) to pick it up, look inside trying to find a name, and was struck by the sheer power of the dick drawing. Maybe some slight verbal counseling occurred, but the best part was that same guy ended up going and getting a rooster stamp and stamp pad, and that became the new marker for abandoned flight caps.

Excited about the finale this year. Couldn’t have scripted it better. All tied up, top of the 9th. I wonder who’s going to be the victor.

Do you think bad Steve, just out of habit, saw the lights come back on and decide to lob a mortar towards the base?

Great race this morning. Excitement in all aspects of the race: driving, personality and strategy. Really enjoyed it.

If you have the time, go to a vault and read the 3-1.ADUSCAN to understand the issues encountered with running intercepts to slow movers, especially ones located in POTUS TFRs. If you’ve done this mission before, then you understand. If not, there are a shit ton of things going on that make it very easy to mess up the intercept or piss off ATC. I don’t know the dude or the situation he was in, but I can tell you that flying a slow VID intercept in a heavily trafficked area (I.e. New York) is task saturating, especially single seat. You have one controlling agency telling you where to go, then you have to coordinate with another controlling agency to ask permission to go, all the while trying to find said violator, often times with an altitude or heading restriction. Fast planes don’t like going slow. When you slow to the speeds needed for these intercepts you are literally hanging on the fan blades. Just when you think you’ve got it figured out, you are still blitzing past the contact, so you turn to keep sight, lose lift, and start sinking out of your altitude block. Then you have bitching Betty telling you “warning, warning, airspeed.” Plus neither of the controlling agencies are leaving you alone, and you desperately don’t want to lose visual with the dude but most likely will or have a very hard time reacquiring said visual. Not to say it is t doable, but it is very task saturating, especially if you aren’t proficient at it. Just like any skill, you have to practice it to get really good at it. No shit, I felt I had more SA and less distractions killing bad Steve’s in the ‘Stan than I ever did running an intercept on a TFR violator over congested airspace.

https://dfw.cbslocal.com/2021/09/19/military-plane-crash-lake-worth-texas/ Reports are that one of the dudes was engulfed in flames before he got caught up in the power lines. Pic seems to back up some sort of fire incident. Prayers he pulls through alright.

Already much better.

Yes. It is almost soul crushing compared to 2-3 days ago.
-
Ahh, but there in lies the problem. You are assuming that maintenance is producing enough jets for us to get into the cockpit on a weekly basis. 😆

It seems they have copied some of the OCA and DCA FLUG briefs I’ve seen. The no-plan gameplan. Always works out real well <sarcasm>.

It’s in Tucson, and is called AATC.
