I think it's safe to say that the majority of that 30 some odd % represents the dudes and dudets who have very little interest in flying airplanes as a career and eat that command/staff $hit up for lunch. We probably won't see the number drop much more, but it is still 30% less than what they'd like it to be.

FYI, it is the 141 ARW.... not ARS. 141 ARS is in Jersey.
-
Yeah.... maybe in 1999.
-
Wow. I wonder what the lowest take rate in history is.
-
Yes... that is what I was trying to say and it cut off half my post bragging that I have only worked 6 days in the last 30 with 3 nights away from home (and some of those days I was home by lunch time). I think it is a government conspiracy! No - definitely not a long term MLOA type of guy here. I barely remember how to set my alarm anymore. I love it though when my unit tries to sell a temp AGR tour with, "Hey, if you ever want a break from the airline life, we can get you some orders!". YGTBSM. Yes, please give me back those computer screen migrain headaches I got rid of. Oh and those meetings. I love meetings!!! Send me to lots of worthless meetings so I can't get $hit done all day. One last thing; start lots of fires for me to put out before I get there because I miss those also! 22 days per month too! The toughest decision I have now after getting to "work" and going through the KCM is - mocha latte or Jamba Juice?

Interesting. May be a Tapatalk thing, but everytime I post, it cuts me off half way through. I am starting to think my wife runs this forum...

Hmmm... my post looks cut off. Is everyone else seeing it end abruptly at "like working"?

ANG is giving away 20k bonus to pilots/trainee’s
Gazmo replied to roto's topic in Air National Guard / Air Force Reserves
At least they get to keep it despite NGB's ambiguity. -
I get the attractiveness of a 20 yr AD retirement check, but Jesus... it'd take an economic disaster/furlough for me to take long term mil leave and go back to the unit on orders. Sorry, I like working
-
Believe it can also F-up your flight pay. Breaks in service are never really beneficial.
-
It shouldn't take more than a day or two (or maybe a week) to inprocess your unit. Noone is going to bat an eyelash to that, but just make sure you are working with your training schedulers managing your OE. They will most likely not have issues with short-term stuff. I still went to UTA's and flew with my unit during OE and consolidation. No questions asked. However, we (mil-types) were pulled to the side during INDOC by the company mil-rep and were explained the mil-leave do's and don'ts. They basically recommended NOT dropping long-term orders during OE and consolidation (first 120 days). They want you to get your 100 hrs and get out of restricted status. However, they said, "if you gotta... you gotta". If it's an involuntary mob, they can't really do much about it (but, really... how many invol mobs are being handed out these days?).

ANG is giving away 20k bonus to pilots/trainee’s
Gazmo replied to roto's topic in Air National Guard / Air Force Reserves
Ironically I just found out I am eligible for the $20k AFRC bonus (6 yr sign on) for being hired into an IMA position. Can't get the ANG bonus at 17 yrs of service, but can get the AFRC bonus by crossing over and going to 23. What is wrong with NGB? Are they that blind? -

But.... but.... but, we don't have a retention problem.... (puts head back in sand). BtW, just had release paperwork signed by my TAG this week to apply to an IMA job... -
Rrrrrrrriiiiight....
-
I doubt they'll change anything. Afterall, they fixed the problem by opening the floodgates to UPT and trimming down the curriculum to reduce washouts.

What are the take rates these days?

Looks more like erectile disfunction to me...

ANG to AFRES Questions
Gazmo replied to Kenny Powers's topic in Air National Guard / Air Force Reserves
Adding to this thread and bringing it to the top. If current unit stalls on the 1288 or does not want to sign it; is there a "Plan B"? Could one flat out separate from the ANG and come back into an AFRES/IMA job right away? -
The new NGB RUTA policy...
Gazmo replied to Gazmo's topic in Air National Guard / Air Force Reserves
Ok, so what does that mean for any other drill that you don't want to come in for? For example, crew member returns from a deployment two weeks before a UTA. He/she does his "PMCR" that we don't really get, but sometimes we do have a week of orders after we return, and now this person wants out of UTA because they haven't been home for the last 4-5 weekends. This isn't a family emergency. The individual isn't going to get paid for not showing up. What constitutes an "excusal". I can tell you my unit excuses people all the time and not just for family emergencies. -

New Tech/ART pay tables
Gazmo replied to Scooter14's topic in Air National Guard / Air Force Reserves
Unless you are a senior O-4 or already an O-5 and have less than 3-4 years to go to an AD retirement (and really... how many units have people like that these days?), converting to AGR with the new GS-13 payscales and ART bonuses isn't worth it. You can easily make north of $150k per year (some over $200k) as an ART now. This ART to AGR conversion came almost a decade too late. Now they've got one program fighting against the other. I know somebody who converted and wants to go back to being a technician because he took a pay cut and had more flexibility with the technician leave system. If you want to be a free agent and make a lot of money, stay a technician. If the initiative to convert technicians to AGR's happened 6 or 7 years ago, we probably would have kept at least half of the fulltime FGO's we have lost over the last 5 years, to include myself. -
New Tech/ART pay tables
Gazmo replied to Scooter14's topic in Air National Guard / Air Force Reserves
Of course all things eventually come to an end, but right now, with the experienced ART's running out the door to the airlines, most newbies off seasoning have a pretty good chance of a fulltime job, at least at most of the tanker units. I comparison, I waited 6 years for a fulltime job. -
New Tech/ART pay tables

AFRC and ANG often do things differently despite having very similar force structures. ANG has been hiring all pilots as GS-13's (again) for quite some time now and supplementing with bonuses. Who knows if this will change given the new payscales, but I know quite a few younger pilots hired doing pretty well for themselves while they build airline time. -

Well how did you think they were going to pay for those bonuses?!
