2019 Air Force Active Duty UPT Board
Rated2014 replied to UPT_Hopeful's topic in Pilot Selection Process
So we're at least a week out if it gets signed today. I'm going to need ten of you to meet me behind AFPC HQ at midnight... Details to follow but one of you bring a fast car and a briefcase.- 863 replies

I believe the notification goes to the wing from AFPC and then they have to push it down to the squadron.- 863 replies

2019 Air Force Active Duty UPT Board
Rated2014 replied to UPT_Hopeful's topic in Pilot Selection Process
It's bound to happen when they force everyone to rank every job they are medically qualified for. I'd much rather not have to list all jobs knowing I really really don't want one of them. On the other hand though... Isn't this very board comprised of a bunch of folks who accepted AF jobs but really want to be doing something else? We're not that far removed from that mentality. I've always wanted to be a manned pilot, but I accepted the interim and committed to it while still pursuing manned flight. I do believe that's the stronger option, but I can't really fault someone when they were forced to list it.- 863 replies

2019 Air Force Active Duty UPT Board
Rated2014 replied to UPT_Hopeful's topic in Pilot Selection Process
Correct. The list is from back in Nov. It was to finalize ETPs for the board to consider. In my case, it just means my ETP was approved and my application met the board. No impact on selection beyond that. If you don't have waivers/ETPs, then nothing changes for now. Good news for sure for those approved, but not the real news just yet- 863 replies

Or in my case, I have an ETP for being in RPAs less than the 2.5 years required. Stuff like that.- 863 replies

I mean, when you're gone over 300 days a year, not CED, I get that money is not the best motivator to stick around. We have a lot of mobility guys on my end who re-cated to unmanned because they wanted to stay AD but not in mobility. The vicious cycle of needing people to reduce workload but the current workload makes people leave so we still don't have people. Most of our 11U pilots in RPAs are prior C17 and C5 guys. Plus a handful of C130Hs because they are gone.- 863 replies

Lol. Standard. I mean 20 Dec is kind of late December. I don't know if any board has ever been on time to the scheduled release anyway.- 863 replies

That checks with what I got; that is the projected public release (PSDM drop) from what I understood, so selects should* find out during the week prior if all goes on schedule. Fingers crossed- 863 replies

Silence is deafening. Late this week could be the earliest we'd hear based off of last year's timeline. My guy at AFPC just told me they are directed to get it done before Christmas so that they can flex to the upcoming OTS board for January. So next two weeks!- 863 replies

Disregard that dude, just a troll on the forum. I went through RPAs a year and a half ago and our AD guys were indeed only there TDY. They joined us at IFT, went home for about a month, and then joined again at Randolph for the two phases of training and immediately went back to home station after that to prep PCS. Here is gets a little varied; Beale assignments PCS straight there for training and follow on. Everyone else will PCS to follow on, but will TDY en route at one of several places for A/C specific training for up to another 6 months. I can DM you more specifics about locations and all if you want, but it's a solid 1.5 year pipeline for MQ9s, a little bit shorter for RQ4s because the training isn't as backed up.- 863 replies

Sounds like last year's EWO trend. Lots of great applicants that weren't allowed to leave. The other way to read this is... Call my functional and look for an update! Lol Hopefully there's a good spread for qualified rated folks.- 863 replies

I understood it was being sent up for signatures yesterday, so it's probably still in the works there. I believe it has to go up to HAF for final approval. Up to HAF, back down to AFPC, distro to MPFs and SQs. I'd say at least another week to make its rounds knowing the paper cycle.- 863 replies

Rated2014 replied to UPT_Hopeful's topic in Pilot Selection Process
Yeah, now that I look at it it's just the list of possible A/C and locations, not a list of what's actually dropping; the master T1 list. They've been dropping 3-4 FAIPs per class recently trying to bolster training.- 863 replies

The KC135s have been dropping hot the last year from the videos I've been watching. That's a lot of 17s too. Is that a Vance drop?- 863 replies

I'll have to go back and look at my form. I don't remember what the stamp said anymore. I was just excited to have it stamped on time. Today I thought I'd relax a bit and watch some UPT drop night videos to Distract myself.... Do not recommend... Now all I can think about is T38 form flights and how upset I'll be if I don't get to do them. 😣- 863 replies

Does MFS have a valid duration? I did it for RPAs about 2 years ago. I know my FC1 is valid for several years so maybe MFS is too? It'd be nice to get picked up and just get a UPT RIP.- 863 replies

How is your community looking now? Since we have an influx of enlisted pilots into the RPA world, our manning is healthy and hopefully that'll keep me in the running. Hopefully you're in a good spot this year! I heard a lot of CSOs applied last year so they had to make those manning calls.- 863 replies

Thanks all! We called the wing and have someone on lookout who said they'll push it to my flight cc if it comes in. We didn't want it to end up in my SQ/CC's inbox with them gone and maybe delay finding out. We'll keep up with MPF as well. I was trying not to think about it and be patient but obviously that ship has sailed... Lol. On another note, I got ahold of a guy from my unit that got picked up two boards ago. He said after the PSDM dropped, he got his training rips for MFS and UPT two weeks later, with RNLTD of around 60 days out. Had his PPL so he went straight to Vance. He said he PCSd about a month after selection (MFS, out and back house hunting, household goods, then drive off). I get that may not be the norm, but it could happen that fast.- 863 replies

Yay for status updates! I went back to last year's thread and they got similar word about signatures about 2 weeks from the PSDM release. Seems like they're on track at the very least.- 863 replies

Looks like my CC is going to be out for a couple of weeks... What's the best way for us to find out pre-PSDM post? Maybe AMS? I know that has a "projected training" section of our SURF but I don't know how quickly that populates. Probably not until we get rips which would be later on.- 863 replies
