FDR’s folly is a book about it. Here’s a WSJ article on it. https://www.wsj.com/articles/SB10001424052702304024604575173632046893848 A google search locates many more opinions on the topic. I don’t know economics only that I had read some on the topic that FDR actually hurt the recovery. One thing pointed out how every depression or recession since has recovered a lot quicker and the new deal happened at the time when the Great Depression should have been recovering. But again. I’m not claiming to know or understand the topic. I just know there are some that argue against it.

There is a lot out there that FDR and the government full of his ideals caused the depression to last longer and wasn’t followed by a big recovery. And you are race bating by equating someone saying that socialism is bad or social policies aren’t good are equated to something that everyone agrees is bad, racism. Dude. That’s really really sick how terrible and racist your comment is negatory. Seriously, sit down and consider your equations and analogies when you revert to equating to racism. That’s really bad.

I think it’s funny how liberals like guns more than republicans. They just disagree who should have them. Liberals think only the government should. Republicans think the private citizens should have them as well Now liberals want to defund the police force and the military. Interesting.

Haha. Not inferring anything. If anything I’m super literal and take your statements at face value in an effort to not infer anything. I very much dislike being taken out of context and something is then made up about my opinion. Feel free to go back and review where I ask you questions. Or ask you why you say a particular statement and I question it and instead of clarifying, refuting, or debating you then make attacks on my character. I agree with your statement that our current system can be better. And I think that future is further away from providing “free” health care to all. Just like the tax system. A flat tax makes much more sense for all. But people seem to think that if you are successful you should pay more. Not if you spend more you should pay more. Just a very victim mentality and socialist view point that hasn’t ever worked out in the worlds history that I’m aware of. I’m wrong all the time though. Are the people you claim that refuse to change because they are old that way for a reason? Assuming they are old on an internet chat room might not be the best. Better yet challenge them and ask why they believe that way. You might find more historical and experiential insight into why they don’t think the change being proposed is good instead of writing them off. It more likely comes across as they don’t agree with you or don’t have new ideas you might agree with so they are discarded. If that’s not your opinion then good. As it is a prevalent opinion out there these days. Hence “okay boomer.”

Nope. Just curious. Completely agree with your assessment.

I wasn’t trying to be superior. Just pointing out that socialism and paradise don’t equate. Do better at what? I just asked you if they were socialist. And look to the Scandinavian countries Bernie likes to quote as being socialist or having social policy. They readily admit that they aren’t socialist and the policies of socialism they in acted in the past failed and they went back to a more free market economy. I’m asking you very simple questions man. Sorry you can’t answer them and only point the finger back at me and claim I’m dumb for not seeing your unexplained points. Plus if you aren’t advocating for those programs, then why bring them up? Seriously. Answer some questions. Take them at face value. And don’t just assume I’m trying to be dumb. I’m not. Genuinely trying to understand why you are bringing this stuff up. And if you aren’t advocating for the stuff you are bringing up then what is your point. Having trouble following you.
-
I’m curious your thoughts on that video slackline.
-
How does my pointing out hat socialism and paradise don’t belong together allows you to assume I’m trying to act superior? Then you continue on and agree with me.....what? Now are you implying those countries are socialist? They aren’t. Like was previously pointed out if you want the government to run more aspects of citizens daily lives then they lose freedoms. And the government decides a lot of things for individuals in socialist countries. I like my freedoms. I seriously don’t get why people want our country to change into something it’s not because some other country may have it. Our country is amazing. Why wouldn’t you go there if you think it’s better instead of trying to change people and a system that doesn’t want to change? I don’t care if it hurts or helps as a whole in your opinion. That’s just it, I don’t want you or others deciding what’s best for me. Are their socialist countries in Europe? If so which ones? Also (for negatory) no system is free from infallible humans. It just happens to be a better system because for the most part it is founded upon consensual agreements and freedoms. Which is a large reason it is completely unique in the world and another reason we live in the best country in the world.
-
Socialist paradise. Oxymoron?
-
Just being ornery. Didn’t think you were implying anything other than I’m a crazy loon. Probably true.
-
Words mean stuff. Thanks for your retraction.
-
Wish I had his hair. Glad I don’t have his wild ideas or religion. Don’t know what you are implying with Matt And slack line. But I’m hoping you aren’t calling him a sexual deviant and woman abuser. Let’s stay above the personal attacks.

Also in socialized health care a board can decide if you need the medical care or not or prioritize others health when you are deemed to be to old or too close to death, etc etc to get any long term value from the procedure. That’s how social medicine works. It can’t be readily available to everyone if it’s good. Think about that loved one in your life that has passed on or not and somehow benefitted from a life saving or altering procedure that they might not on the onset needed. Like someone who has a terminal illness getting an unrelated major proceedure that allows them to live a few years more under their terminal illness. In socialized Medicine a board can opt out of that procedure severely reducing the remaining quality of life or even ending the life early. No thanks. Socialism sucks. Capitalism allows us to take advantage of everyone’s talents for all involved’s benefit.
-
It’s not semantics. It’s taking something not true and trying to pass it off as true. That’s not the definition of semantics.
-
Actual fixes. That’s an awesome take. I’d like to read more on how this works.
-
Disingenuous. They don’t say that it’s impossible. Just not cheap and won’t help the country as a whole and will infringe on rights and take wealth.
-
Agree to disagree https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.usnews.com/news/best-countries/articles/2016-08-03/canadians-increasingly-come-to-us-for-health-care%3fcontext=amp

I’ve already explained why it’s the best. We have the most medically advanced health care which provides a sustainment of life. Even though our society is very very unhealthy and usually by its own choices. Our medical care makes up for that. And you don’t have to wait. Anyone can go to the ER at any time for almost anything. That’s not really true of socialist healthcare systems. Opinions disguised as facts? You’re projecting. I don’t see where you have provided facts at all. In fact you take things out of context and make it a half truth then base a narrative on it. Very disingenuous.
-
Well since you went down the path of guessing what I was saying and saying something I didn’t, let’s go there. Show me how not having healthcare for all in our nations history has cost us our independence and way of life. The difference is not having healthcare doesn’t cause our entire nation and way of life to cease. It doesn’t take away our singularly unique freedoms of speech and press. It doesn’t cause us to cease being the best nation in the world. However making our health care system look like Canada’s hurts the entire world not just our country. The medical system and unique amazing medical advancements are very largely unique to us. Where do the people who absolutely need medical care but can’t wait in the absurdly long waits that Canada’s medical system has? They come to America!
-
Maybe your analogy doesn’t make sense to him. Try to argue in a different manner or explain why treasure should be taken from those who have to give to those who don’t have it, didn’t work for it, or don’t respect it.
-
Best means the same to everyone. Accessible and high quality. Dude. You are completely missing my point. If I want to make a statement and explain exactly what I mean in saying it, you can’t tell me that is wrong. If you want to say I understand how you are defining health care for the context of your statement to mean medical care and not discussing insurance on that statement then you can. You can’t tell me that when I say this is an apple and I’m talking about just apples not all round fruit that I’m wrong for making a statement about apples. Your logic doesn’t follow. Health care and military protection aren’t both examples of socialist programs. You can’t compare them. Apples to oranges brah. You’re missing the point. Even if it is an investment in our society, you shouldn’t force it on those who don’t want it. It’s theft and immoral.
-
How many people would you say are over BMI in this country compared to people with non obesity related pre existing conditions? And there are lots of insurance options out there for people with pre existing conditions right now. People who say they aren’t telling you the truth. I gotta stop acting like my arguments are infallible? Try to debunk them and I will readily admit it. So far you can’t and just return to personal attacks. That’s not debating.
-
Already told you. When something becomes attainable to all it stops being good. To make it attainable it isn’t going to be as good by the very nature of economics. It physically can not be. If a really really really good doctor is forced to see more people and it has to be affordable to all, that doctor isn’t going to want to practice. He wants to make money for his specialty. (How bad is available to all military on base health care? It’s cheap and not good and it’s more often than not, unavailable on a quick timeline). Just study Canada’s system. The wait for simple ailments is absurdly long. Canada’s system is trash. So instead of argue you revert to personal attacks? Sure seems like you want to debate policy. (That’s sarcasm). Notice how I respond with facts and reason instead of personal attacks?
-
Nope. I just actually argue with facts and reason and not personal attacks and made up things. My poop absolutely stinks. I just happen to be able to call out when others arguments don’t make sense.
