  1. This is the kind of junk you get from someone that works hand in hand with fingers. We won’t get anywhere with Fingers at the helm. Quick someone give him a private sector advisory job that gives him the label VP, gives him 250k a year, and allows him not to show up for work. (Pretty much what he does now). Schwartz still owns some blame for a lot of this backwards culture we have now.
  2. They tried to plug Tami-21’s hole
  3. I love to know the best way to fix a bucket with many holes in it is to pour more water in.
  4. 3 years ago when NGB moved from 25k bonus to 35k bonus. Just before the raise came out NGB A3 was discussing it. Their take on Guard retention was that there wasn’t a problem. (Which I guess I can understand, because of everyone leaving active duty for guard or reserves). But they were actively not only trying to get rid of the tier 2 15k bonus but they were actively trying to get rid of the tier 1 bonus. So I can believe that not much has changed. NGB only has a 35k bonus because active duty does and there is a lot of pressure to keep it. They don’t realize that if they got rid of it that guard pilots would up and leave for part time positions or nothing at all. It simply isn’t worth it without the bonus and really not even then. Most people I know are still contemplating leaving who are on the bonus.
  5. Did you see this coming from a mile away? https://apple.news/AUuIoXnfrTFaSN1F7GdzxEw https://www.foxnews.com/politics/arizona-gop-sen-martha-mcsally-says-she-was-raped-in-air-force-by-a-superior-officer
  6. I would ask for the reg. Never heard of that. In fact my unit started working on my Maj package prior to even gaining me.
  7. Read this if you want some good advice for how BEing a DO’er will increase the quality and meaning of your life. Goes in hand with Boyd. Jordan Peterson 12 Rules for Life 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos https://www.amazon.com/dp/0345816021/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_B5xCCbCC6MYR9
  8. Works for the individual. Doesn’t change a thing for organization being left unless it cares for its highly trained members, which in this case doesn’t seem to be the case.
  9. That question is being asked a lot. If anyone has sources on how to make that a reality, likely we will continue to help the guard and reserves fill up and achieve their dreams of leaving active duty.
  10. What was that?
  11. Top 3’s few and far between?
  12. Uhh what? Get orders. Show up to work and get paid. Not really sure what you are asking.
  13. It’s not on the timeline portion of the app any longer. Edit: it just came back up. Weird.
  14. Wow. Did the commanders dropping like flies post get deleted?
  15. Again I ask, according to who? Article doesn’t definitively say that it wasn’t a pilot or numbered angel. “but the removed person does not appear to be a “numbered” pilot.” Doesn’t appear isn’t confirmation.
  16. Says who? That article doesn’t say who it was or wasn’t definitively.
  17. Coincidence that there are two demo team issues so close to each other?
  18. He’s going to be happier in the airlines. He should thank the AF if they make him walk away.
  19. Isn’t there a way to give up your O5 for an O4 to make you more marketable to the guard? Also some states and units have a commitment in terms of years of service. If you find one of those they may be more willing to take you on.
  20. No transferable? I have trouble believing that. I know there aren’t navs or flight engineers in civi world any longer but I would say your time to a regional has to be easier than the average civilian. Your skills can translate to getting your pilot qual’s and licensees. Buy a plane and fly while still on active duty and build your time.
  21. Isn’t Va health care like tricare? If you live far enough away they will just pay for a local provider?
  22. Didn’t know you could do that after phase 3. That’s awesome. https://www.flyingsquadron.com/forums/uploads/monthly_2018_08/faa_memo.jpg.57c7b78a267cd0e0eab2b8f9a60ac4b8.jpg
  23. 90 currency is only if you are carrying passengers in the civilian plane. Otherwise you don’t need the landings. But it has to be in the same class of aircraft. Meaning the landings you do in a multi engine land military plane don’t count for your currency in a single engine land civilian airplane. If you are finished with UPT and you have been qualified in your MWS then you are eligible for the mil competency test to give you your commercial single or multi (depending on what engine configuration your MWS is) with instrument add. Once you become an instructor in that MWS you can do the same for your civilian certificate. I don’t believe this at all allows RPA dudes to get non RPA civilian licenses, but there is a civilian drone license and I don’t know the caveats on that. Next little bit is copied from the airline pilot forum. Don’t know if it’s currently what the FARs say. This was from 2013. Take away is as long as you are current on your military flight physical you don’t have to have a civilian one to exercise 3rd class privileges in the Cilicia night world Never heard of a civilian outfit accepting a form 8 as the only proof and bypass a checkout to fly one of their planes and I doubt that there is any insurance company that would allow that either. You can forego faa medical if you have a current flight physical and are only exercising third class medical. 14 CFR 61.23(b) Operations not requiring a medical certificate. A person is not required to hold a medical certificate— (9) When a military pilot of the U.S. Armed Forces can show evidence of an up-to-date medical examination authorizing pilot flight status issued by the U.S. Armed Forces and— (i) The flight does not require higher than a third-class medical certificate; and (ii) The flight conducted is a domestic flight operation within U.S. airspace. a lot of military flight docs are authorized to do no-joke FAA second and third class medical certificates as well. Ask your local flight surgeon for details. But why would you want or need to do that if your mil physical counts?
  24. Don’t know about this year but yes there has been in the recent past a payback requirement. For the big bonus longer than 2 years if you accomplished less than 2 years then you had to pay it all back. If you only made it greater than 2 years but less than 4 you had to pay back 10k a year. If you make it longer than 4 then you keep what you got.
