  1. I haven’t done it but I heard if you remain in the unit as a part timer then when you cancel your bonus and have to pay it back that you can basically do an interest free loan back to the government and slowly pay it back. Doesn’t have to be lump sum.
  2. Very ambiguous question. Need to be specific. There are people who are on this forum who have been on more than one platform. I’ve heard as many as 5-7 and are still in doing the job. So if you feel comfortable to get specific, we can answer specifics.
  3. Mil medical counts as a 3rd class A single engine landing counts as a single engine landing. A holding pattern, tracking in and out on a radial, doing approaches, all count. Your mil checkride counts as a bi annual just like civi checkride does. What specific questions do you have?
  4. Some do some don’t.
  5. Did anything change for guard? Can you still give up your status and get out of the bonus?
  6. Guard x 1000
  7. Dude. It doesn’t matter. The only reason to go to that is if you want to. Don’t do something that you don’t really want to at this stage in your life. If you want what it brings then try to go in res. If you don’t want it or don’t care then it’s gut check time. You have to start thinking about what you want to do and if you are ok separating or retiring as a major. If you are then why all of the stress over something you don’t even want?
  8. You can blame fingers for not holding them accountable.
  9. Not sure if you would catch more or not but you catch a lot of flies with poop too
  10. Between SWA and delta I would pick delta. Less work per work day, more options for airplanes, flights, upgrades, locations, retirement benefits. Plus you can drop trips without recourse at delta. Don’t have to be on mil leave or pick up a trip. Not a fan of PBS but being able to drop a trip with zero recourse is pretty huge. Again. I’m not employed by either. And what I said may be 100% wrong as I am not there. That is just what I have heard in airline job search. Delta seems to be the better airline to work for a situation like mine. All the above considered took SWA off the list for me. Not going to apply there unless the other 5 don’t hire me after interview.
  11. By no means do I know anything about this. I am just surprised to hear SWA. I hear they work you to death for your coin. I realize that wasn’t the question posed. I just can’t imagine doing a 4 hop for SWA compared to a one or two hop for DAL which makes the same amount of money being the better route to make more money. Sounds like you would have to kill yourself to make a lot of money. If the question were: Which airline allows you to maximize your pay and work the least? What would your answer be?
  12. Maybe there was a modifier considered.
  13. No idea. Ask them. Those dudes were hired.
  14. I know several sub 1500 fighter and test pilots who got hired at American.
  15. Even if she doesn’t work you get to claim the higher income cap and contribute the max to both yours and hers. Yeah. What he said.
  16. I’m betting that the news will tout this as another massive bonus instead of what it actually is.
  17. Seriously? That’s their motivation. Haha. Hilarious.
  18. I think the individual wings do. Or split by AD, RES, guard. Ours at the tfi unit is separate from AD I’m told.
  19. Doesn’t that all include the keys to a T38? And home most nights?
  20. Yeah. Actually the units do get kickbacks.
  21. And not even a warning or a ,”hey brah.....use the gov cc.”?
  22. I heard a wise LtCol tell me once make sure your civilian doc never meets your FAA doc and that neither of them meet your mil doc. I wouldn’t lie. But if they don’t ask for it, I don’t think I would tell. The only records I have ever hear of the mil in possession of are those you give to them prior or if you have some procedure done by a civilian doc while on mil status with mil health insurance.
  23. Sad but true. The guard is modeled after the army and a lot of the state and ngb people who are suppose to take care of us don’t understand the Air guys and subsequently it takes forever to get things done. I would start getting phone numbers and calling people like crazy. You’d be surprised how spending that effort pays off when it is usually an army dude who it takes 5 seconds to sign off on.
  24. https://obits.reviewjournal.com/obituaries/lvrj/obituary.aspx?n=richard-hauben&pid=160016714&fhid=12185 Whoa. That is crushing sad.
