I understand. But the point is there are so many enlisted that want to become pilots. Even if not in the military in the civilian market. Seems like it would fit and be a great low cost program to make happen.
With all of these programs to build the pilot population and pilot training cranking out high numbers of pilots yet we are still looking for more pilots, why doesn’t the Air Force reinstitute aero clubs at bases? I know there are a few remaining. But they are the exception. Thoughts?
Brabus and others, where can one find out about these opportunities? I find out about them through local PR emails. I don’t know how one outside the unit would find out about AGR openings in guard or reserve.
Unknown. However there are examples of VPLAD out there that don’t meet one of AFPC’s criteria for time out of the jet, age, time since retirement, medical conditions and the AF is still putting people back in.
“failed to properly report information about suicide attempts through his chain of command four times; used a government vehicle improperly and failed to report the value of autographed photographs that celebrities gave him” Wonder which one really got him fired. (Sarcasm) Seems like most are forgivable in this day and age, except one. Had to be the autographed photos right?
They can absolutely waive less than 2 years. And likely will. Back in the day I saw people fall into that being forcibly moved to holloman with less than 2. Only to serve another 6 months and punch.
Don’t forget all guard ARTs are eligible GS13. You don’t have to be an instructor any longer. Changed 2016. Ngb wide memo. And if you do a comparison sheet when hired you can go straight to GS13 step 7 if you are a senior captain or higher.
