FIFY... But yeah, sounds about right.

Miramar is a special case for whatever reason. More retired military in the area possibly? San Diego and awesome surfing is just 30 minutes away... Vegas is also well within driving distance... At NAS Oceana, half of the people are parked by the front of the neighborhoods taking pictures and loving the 24/7 air show, and the other half are constantly bitching about the jet noise.

I've heard too many horror stories about lost certs. Once I graduate SERE School I'm getting the Certificate of Completion tattooed on my ass.

Common sense, such a rare find in today's world. As an army brat, I concur. The "doctors" at our base were notorious for handing out athlete's foot cream for every ailment. It was so laughable that one day I had a cough and my buddy took out some Lotrimin and said "Dr. so-and-so says drink this and that cough will be gone in no time." I had to change my provider from a licensed doctor to a Nurse Practitioner who knew what the fvck she was doing... Kind of sad that Mrs. XXXXXX is noticably more compitent than Dr. XXXXXX. What a shitshow.

Nice try, Obama! I'm a little less optimistic. It's going to be a long, hard road for anyone who wants to make changes to the current fvckery that is the political military. It's a disaster -- the Air Force knows it, the Navy knows it, the Army knows it, you know it, I know it (sorry had to counteract your Obama quote with a Trump quote)...

I've only rushed one squadron, and I have my first interview coming up for a fighter unit that I applied to but didn't have the time to visit (applications are usually due on the last drill weekend that applicants visit). Many people on this site and many that I've met have had multiple interviews, and a lot of people I know have gotten hired in just about every airframe the AF flies. I'm not one of them, but I'll give you my 2 cents as a fellow newbie pilot wannabe. The ANG seems to put out way more hiring notices than the Reserves, and I don't really know why... But if the ANG/Reserves are hiring, get into contact with someone and show up for drill weekend. As for the "Am I going to get hired off the streets?" question, I would say you have just as good of a shot as someone in the unit in many cases. Don't act like you're better, and don't act like you're worse. Yes, there are some units that prefer to hire from within, but a lot of units have been burned by their own dudes/gals because they couldn't hack it in UPT. So rush any and all units like it's your life's goal because, well, it is... I think the "be a good dude" thing is kind of obvious, but my take on it is to just be yourself. Pilots have damn near perfect instincts. They can pretty much tell who is being genuine, and who is acting like an ass and saying "bro" every other word because that's what the 1LTs do. It's really embarrassing to see the senior pilots cringing once the "I'm gonna act like a 23 year old fighter pilot ace even thought I'm a guy off the streets" dude shows up and starts acting like hot shit. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fighter wannabe through and through. If asked why I want fighters, my answer is going to be unique (and the best answer) compared to someone else's response... Hope that helps, dude. Good luck!

I hope my IP has this mindset. I just want to work my ass off so I can kill as many bad guys as possible when the need arises.

Blue Angels should have been there...

Dude, come on... That doesn't pass the bullshit litmus test. The politicians say, "Oh how wonderful, Obamacare gave healthcare to an additional 20M people that couldn't afford it!" How?! We're always talking about how healthcare workers are overworked and underpaid, resulting in less people joining the healthcare field which just exacerbates the issue... Did I miss something or did Obama literally pull a bunch of qualified healthcare workers that don't require sleep out of his ass? If you live in the US and the phrase "government mandated healthcare" doesn't scare you, you've probably said the phrase "feel the Bern!" about a million times in the past year and/or cried on national television with a piece of duct tape covering your mouth that reads "silenced by the DNC"

I still think the only reason I did so well in college is because I knew if my dad said "How's school going?!" and I said something to the effect of "Bro C's get degrees, don't worry they won't drop my full ride until my cumulative GPA is below a 3.5" he would break the land speed record, drag me to the middle of a 'safe-space', and beat my ass senseless in front of the "we don't spank our children" crowd during parent weekend...

"Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death..." 0 fvcks given

One of the best pieces of advice my English teacher (who had a Master's degree from Cambridge) ever told me was to NEVER use more words than necessary to get your point across. I would've gladly taken a "Go fvck yourself, tk" over the walls of text you've been dishing out. I seriously have no idea what you're point is, or even how it remotely relates to Kaepernick being a hypocritical dipshit (reference the above post for proof - Thanks Huggy).

I'll say what kiloalpha is too nice and refined to say... Remove the stick from your ass. Writing another 4 paragraphs of response to a one-liner matmacwc jokingly typed is some Simple Jack shit.

I don't know... I'm going to have to think long and hard about that one.

Well, to throw some good vibes Hillary's way... Nelson Mandela served 27 years in prison before he became President. But I put my outlook about the future of our President-elect right around "ignorantly optimistic"... And FVCK YES I'm happy Pence is the VP instead of Kaine due to the VP debate. If any of you missed it, it looked something like this:

On a serious note, I sincerely hope he follows through with bringing back personal accountability. This win proved that we'd rather take a gamble than deal with a career politician. On a less serious note, for the first time in my life I'm excited to watch political news. I get to watch Hollywood stars and the media cry little baby tears and then go on twitter and bitch about how life isn't fair because they didn't get their way... I'll drink the kool-aid for now.

I think Hillary is still confused as to why her superdelegate votes don't count for shit now... Or why she wasn't allowed to flip a coin for the purple states. If I was a democrat, I'd be pissed the DNC shunned the voter base and got their asses whipped for it. The chickens always come home to roost...

2 questions: (1) What is your major? and (2) What airframes are you going after? 1.) Yes, you are extremely competitive granted you're able to answer the "OK, so we get you can fly in the civilian world, how do you intend on adapting to a flying style more suited for the military?"... Old habits die hard, and the AF probably wants you to acknowledge that. 2.) I've always had extremely good vision (lucky genes), but go for the Lasik... You're flying regional so I'm assuming that's not a big hit to the pocketbook. 3.) Hell no. I would get your AFOQT and TBAS out of the way obviously, but seriously the PCSM is so heavily weighted towards flying hours now, and you're 2,800 hrs over the maximum requirement... Good luck!

Do you run based on distance, intensity, or time? Matmac said to mix in sprints with my runs, so I have started to do that. I usually try to keep it under 2 miles because of what has already been mentioned -- long distance running = bad G tolerance.

1. You have 2 posts, and one of them is complaining about neg rep on your first post. So... maybe contribute, be positive, and stay on topic? 2. Your interests give me a "tool" vibe, just my opinion. (you edited this, looks a little better now) 3. If you had creeped a little while on the forums before joining, you would know that the "what are my chances of getting a fighter drop" has already been asked 69 million times before, and is almost always answered with "there is really no way to estimate how many fighters will drop, so just work your ass off in UPT and be a good bro." 4. If you get that viper drop, you're going to be flying with the same type of guys that are busting your ass on the forums. I'm not one of them yet, and I don't act like it. They are a tight knit group, and honestly have helped me understand a great deal about the flight training process, and the AF in general. 5. I've been told to 'shut the hell up' here too. It's not personal, and you shouldn't take it that way. Seriously, this community is filled with a bunch of successful fighter pilots, and is a great resource for everything you need to know. This weekend, I'm going to meet a couple fighter wannabes just like me, and it's only because of these forums... So just consider yourself lucky to be interacting with everyone here. ANYWAY, sorry to have derailed the thread... Back on topic: I'm also interested to see the next round of T-1 drops. It seems to me like they're moving toward T-38 guys getting only fighters or an A-10, while the T-1's fight over the 11B slots. If they are trying to mitigate the 11F AND 11B shortage, this seems like a pretty good way of doing it.

Personally, I've never pulled G's. BUT my dad was an Army pilot and astronaut candidate, and I have many family, friends, and work colleagues that have flown fighters. The one thing I consistently hear is "it hurts and your body just has to get used to it"... Obviously the fighter guys here know what they're talking about, so I would focus on AGSM, breathing, staying hydrated, and core strength like they said. I still remember when I was younger my dad bringing home tapes of himself and the other astronaut candidates (or other flying buddies) in the centrifuge. They would all pack into the living room and drink a ton of Jack and Coke and just laugh their asses off. Endless entertainment.

The best pilot to ever demonstrate the pure bifurcation of flight, altitude and airpseed.

Good line for the ladies...

Nothing says USMC fighter pilot quite like flying a nub with a PVC pipe extension from the back seat.
