I'm with you that the F-35 cuts bother me to as we desperately need mass. However, I think your Red Flag example is off, it would be similar to saying that because it'd be hard to find a use case for the F-4 in a modern Red Flag, that we should just scrap the fighter force. The problem is the E-3 is an old bird and should have been sent to the boneyard 15 years ago and we should have gotten the E-10 or E-7. Unfortunately as far as C2 platforms go, the JSTARS was actually the most advanced platform we had but buying them second (or fourth) hand led them to an early grave with no capability to replace it. Personally as an ABM, I believe if we cancel the E-7 the Air Force should blow up the C2 enterprise as it's evident no one wants to pay for it (not saying get rid of it, but we don't seem to want any Tac C2, but we also don't want to staff the AOCs).

Just closed with Jon at Trident (3.5% in UT). He was awesome from start to finish; I deployed when trying to close on one house and when the deal fell through, he took care of the cost of appraisal. On the second attempt, I was sent on a TDY that was going to cover the day I was supposed to close and Jon and Bri made sure this didn't impact the deal and minimized the pain even with the change in location. Jon and Bri were both quick to respond to any questions or requests and always had solutions to problems. It was great to work with someone who understands how the military can send you someplace with short notice regardless of what is going on in your life.

Just want to give a shout out to Jon and the team at Trident. They gave me a great interest rate and their service was top notch. Unfortunately, the closing was canceled because of shenanigans and not being forthcoming with information on the seller's side, but Jon offered to cover the cost of the appraisal so I would not have to pony up more cash on the failed endeavor. If you have an opportunity to work with the Trident team give them a call and they'll treat you like a bro.

The plan right now is we start sending aircraft to the boneyard starting next year but continue to fly the JSTARS until 2025+, not sure on the number per year that will be retired though. As for the RECAP, it is yet again in limbo. Air Force wants to kill it but Congress was fighting to keep it going. Last RUMINT I heard though was a lot of the support RECAP was getting from Congress was lost when they announced ABMS would be put at Robins.

Anyone here have experience with the Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card. They advertise 100,000 bonus points if you spend $4000 in the first 3 months, 3x points on travel and restaurants, and $300 annual travel credit. The annual fee is $495 but I was wondering if anyone knew if they offered a similar deal to AMEX by waiving fees to Active Duty individuals?
