This spells it out pretty well how to keep a logbook https://www.aviationbull.com/2015/oct/19/military-pilot-logbook-conversion

Title 10 backing up retirement pay
Vixty replied to chizz's topic in Air National Guard / Air Force Reserves
That's why I try to always dig in the regs to see if can benefit myself and others in my section as I am still learning the guard way. Turns out I have uncovered multiple issues that have been done wrong for a long time. -

The ANG workday AFI states that UPT WILL be completed on title 10 orders. So maybe you can use the reg to get them changed? 5.3.5. All ANG members attending Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT) programs and Professional Military Education (PME) will attend in a Title 10 status -
I'm heading off to ots in two weeks and no one has mentioned anything about a prerequisite course. I even asked my base training manager about it and she said she hasn't heard anything about it. The reporting instructions doesn't mention anything either. Should I be worried? I'm in the guard.

I will be reporting to vance come the end of March. I'm married but my wife is staying in charlotte. I've already planned on living off base and see there is a newer apartment complex there that seems pretty nice. I was planning on bringing all my hunting equipment thinking I could get out a few Saturdays during the seasons. What's the weekly grind like at vance? Is it 5 12s and weekends off or is there zero down time. Everyone I've talked to went to other upt bases and usually had the weekends off but used Sunday afternoon to prepare for the next week. All input is welcome and thanks in advance.

Thanks, I turn 29 in May and I won't be able to swear in until at least July since I'm having to palace chase from AD. My package however is currently being submitted to the GB so once I swear in I only need the MFS and a request for class dates if my package gets the go ahead.

IDPA is good because it makes you use cover but its very slow paced and honestly doesn't make someone think under pressure. They tell you how you're going to shoot a course of fire and if you don't follow all the silly "real life" rules you get hit with all kinds of penalties. A combination of USPSA and IDPA is best and both are usually shot at a range that offers at least one of them. I think the biggest thing these two associations offer is good gun safety practices.

Does anyone know how the GB determines class dates? It seems that some get dates a year out while others only a month or two. Is it first come first serve, or does the age of the individual go into account?

Yes our M9 class isn't that great but a lot of the classes normal civilians take arent much better. Just like any other skill we possess such as flying, can't be taught in a one or two day class. It takes time to develop skills so that when something bad actually does happen the fundementals are set in stone. I shoot a lot of USPSA and IDPA along with practicing drawing from the waist band and engaging while retreating. I also make sure my wife goes to the range with me every few months to do the same. Nothing can simulate the real thing but having a solid fundimental base helps during a high stress situation. We could argue all day as to how to fix this, but unless everyone takes personal responsibilty things will never change.

I think instead of states asking for proof of military service to issue a CCW they should request a copy of a 522 that actually shows training with a handgun. As most of us know, most AF members never get trained on the m9. And even thoes who do take the m9 class are scarey with a m9/m4 in their hands. I watched a captain just the other day try to load up her m9 in our tent with the muzzle pointed at somone sitting on the couch. I was about to jump out of my boots but someone else got to her first. I'm a huge fan of states being friendly with military but at the same time i would feel better knowing that everyone carrying at least had some type of training with a handgun.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up. I had to sign a ANG statement of understanding this past week and no where did it metion anything about the requirement for 6 years as an ART. So it looks like its still a reserve thing. I've been debating whether it would be best to try and work as an ART for a while and then try to get pickup up by the airlines, or just stay a TR and try to find some other kind of civilian flying gig. I'm thinking I should have close to 500 hours once I finish up my flight training. Is it pretty easy for a newly trained military pilot to get some kind of local flying gig with a 135 company or something of that nature? I assume thats what most do to get the 750 hours required for a restricted ATP with the regionals.

I just realized I put 2015 instead of 2016. My paperwork should get submitted to the GB soon but the recruiter said he doesnt think there will be any dates assigned until I actually palace chase and swear in. I won't be able to palace chase until after Aug17 due to my wife deamanding that she wants to have her ankle pins taken out from a previous injury before we lose our tricare prime. The problem is I turn 29 in May and they want to push me thorugh ASAP.

Has anyone had to take the MFS seperate from the FC1? I took my FC1 for an active duty OTS package about a month ago and have since been hired by a guard unit. I was told I still need to do the MFS but i'm just wondering what all will be involved. By reading online ive heard they retest parts of vision, take measurements and do some kind of other testing. Is that really all the MFS is about? I'm a little worried about the MFS becuase my eye refraction during my FC1 was right at the limit. I won't be swearing into the unit until mid to late 2017 so i assume my MFS won't get done until after that. I'm a little worried my eyes will be past the limit by then.
