  2. I've known some crews that fly pretty often together, don't salute each other because they're friends. As for the wings, loadmasters and some other afsc's have very similar looking wings. 99.9% of the time they're not pilot wings upon closer inspection.
  3. If you're visiting a unit, I would definitely show up in uniform, even as a DSG.
  4. As a guy with a GED and a degree in basket weaving, in UPT currently with Guard fighter slot, it's very possible with those scores. Keep pushing with that attitude and you'll land a slot!
  5. Fighters, heavies or helos?
  6. Rushed / the VR is useless after the first few weeks of trans. This is just what I've been told by a few.
  7. This is the first of I've heard/seen people coming to DLF from UPT Next. It's also the first I've even heard of anyone washing out of Next. My class is the one right behind the "innovation flight" where they're testing UPT 2.5 and we already have 2 people who got washed back. The students are not a fan of it at all.
  8. Yup, apparently if you wash out of UPT Next, you have to fully start over and do the normal syllabus.
  9. 5-7 months is the average for AD guy/gals here at Laughlin. They train up some APTers to be full on crew chiefs...
  10. Currently here at Laughlin, the "innovation flight" goes through what is similar to UPT 2.5 for T-6's then they track just like everyone else and go through the same toner and 38 syllabus. The feedback from the students is not great.
  11. i'll hop in here before someone tears this apart. Search around the site, and majority of the questions you have will be answered. Airframes will dictate your balance. I'll just say "it depends".
  12. Just make sure you're spelling Tucson right on the app.
  13. I failed it at MEPS when I enlisted and failed it at FC1, then they gave me some ben franklin looking bifocals and all the sudden it became very easy. So I just have to fly with glasses is all. The technicians are super helpful and they'll work with you.

  16. I'll give some slight insight on maybe why it's changed. I was the last one picked up at AZ under a different commander, this past board and the one coming up are under a new commander. I guess he's changing the requirements . It used to be AZ Guard only(Army or Air), unless it got pushed back due to no qualified applicants, then they'd open it up to military only. Looks like he's opening it up to all. Technically you're under the AZ Guard until you find that unit. So you're sponsored by them, until you PCS fully after 16 B-course. I think Klameth/Portland does something similar, but I could be wrong.

  18. Started a little over a month ago, and this was a very refreshing thread to read.
  19. Anybody's units paying for their MASSIF? Or still out of pocket?
  20. Not sure how active is handled other than I did see at OTS the active pilots interviewed for a slot at ENNJPT. I'm guard fighters and Kathy Rico handles all of the dates/locations. Everyone I know who was fighters guard/reserve and had a 90+ pcsm went to ENJJPT.
  21. As of last year this was still true
  22. This was my experience too. Failed it, did some more tests, then they threw Ben Franklins bifocals on, and bam they finally stuck out. Even with my flight glasses it still isn't easy to pick them out during PHA's.
  23. Suit and Tie is fine.
  24. Very interesting, started last week at Laughlin and not a single word about this. Going to assume its Vance/ Randolph at the moment.
