  2. Glad to see another Ron Fogleman fan and totally agree as being one of the best. He brought back "Crud" to the Polly bar when he became the Division CC at DM in '85.

  4. I had an '88 RV-4 for 20 years and was always tinkering. Purchased a 2010 RV-8 5 years ago and it has been pretty much gas and go. Newer RV's seem to be set up better. Define your mission. RV's are not as solid as a spam can. Flew mine MN---> AZ in one day and I was still vibrating when I went to bed but would never trade it. My -8 is the last plane I will ever fly.

  6. Lyle was on my no-fly list prior to the incident. Having said that we were glad he was able to overcome all obstacles and return. Great credit to the CEO Dasburg.

    USAA

    47 years with USAA and NO claims auto or home with the exception of windshield replaced last year. Getting the runaround on a house claim now. It ain't the same USAA of old.

  9. Waaay back in the day UPT grads that received FAC assignments (O-2/OA-37) were guaranteed a fighter after a 3 yr DM tour. I was a flight/CC and my guys went to F-15/F-16/A-10. Most are airline capts now but one retired as Wing/DO at Cannon.

  12. I was there when the bypass issue came up. You have it right. They were going to elevate it over the washes. I was pretty much against it. The growth was already out to Reddington Pass and most homes were on multi acre lots. I never get near Houghton....so depressing driving from the NW side of town. Sally is up against the leftest Mark Kelly.
  13. I don't think it is that bad as you are approaching it thru the eyes of your cop wife. I will say that the area from DM north to the foothills and west to Oracle Rd is crappy. Might look for a rental off Craycroft in Fairfield in the Foothills. NW Tucson is the nicest and where I live (25 yrs) but as someone previously mentioned it would be stoplight hell to get to the base.

  15. Or you can go full tilt at DAL using "strategies, gimmicks, premium flying" like my $$$ obsessed brother-in-law 320CA who made $602K last yr and averaged $500k/yr for the previous 3 yrs. I expect him to croak the day after he retires if not sooner.
  16. Bingo, how low can we go? Long haired surfer/sailing dude from Hawaii, 2.3 GPA, 2 yr ROTC program an after thought, UPT DG, Phantom driver, ret DAL. Who would have thought. Ayz33, don't sell short Homstar's remarks about chair flying. I locked myself in a room and chair flew each and every flight for hours while classmates were out playing water volleyball.

  19. Everyone likes cockpit pics. RV-4 I owned pre EFIS's and RV-8. As you can see I like simplicity. No desire to fly SE IFR.
  20. Huggy I have at least a checklist but am in MN for the summer and would not be able to send anything till late fall. I gave the Dash 1 to a civilian owner yrs ago. Why the interest? I have 1000 hrs in the Dragonfly and surprisingly it was more fun to fly than the Phantom.
  21. With your new airline career ahead, you will soon put this all behind you. My first day at a major was just as exciting as my first day at UPT. Like someone said, don't get involved, enjoy single life. I div before going to the airlines and unless you are flying boxes, it is a very target rich environment. Stayed single for 28 years then married a wonderful lady going into retirement. The day of my div was one of the happiest days of my life, a huge weight off my shoulders. Best of luck.
  22. Huggy, of all the RVs, the -14 goes together much quicker than any of them according to a guy that gave a presentation to our RV group who first built a -10 then the -14. Every time I get into a -7 or -6 it seems small because your shoulders touch. The -8 feels roomy in comparison. As someone has mentioned, the best flying RV is the -4 when SOLO which I flew 99% of the time. Cockpit is tight when compared to the -8:
  23. Do you really want to sit on a jumpseat for 5.5 hrs especially on a B-737 that many are now flying to HI? Don't get me wrong because I was a commuter for 23 years and did all I could to make jumpseaters feel welcomed, but do you think the cockpit crew wants you on their jumpseat for that long?
  24. Yep but keep it light and simple. Having flown my entire life with either a back seater, student, someone in the right or left seat, wingman etc, it's great to fly solo and reflect. Huggy with his U-2 experience can probably relate.
