  1. https://www.aviationpros.com/aircraft/defense/news/21282366/air-force-personnel-remembers-fb-111a-crash-50-years-later @bfargin your FB111 low pass story led me to this. Guess they repaired that bird with another one that had a dual engine failure. Called it the Frankenvark and it never would fly straight…

But definitely a narrowbody. “The pilot became visibly enraged, broke the lock on the door and forced the bathroom door open pulling the passenger out of the bathroom with his pants around his ankles…”
  5. this is the most important dibs of my life.
  6. Apples to Oranges. A lot of people have died for no reason under the guise of “freedom” and I guess I’m not one that supports that. When real freedom is at stake I have no doubt I’ll be there. Also not sure how you keep up with the 1v5 debates on here. Seems like a full time job so kudos for sticking with it 😂
  7. Corrupt Ukraine or corrupt Russia. I don’t know what their cause is? Sure ain’t worth dying for. But if you insist it is.
  8. That’s the most insane part, it’s so predictable yet when it happens all we see is shock and confusion. Followed by a company message about how amazing we handled it but all I see are 1,000s of pissed off people in every terminal and delays and cancellations that stack for a week.
  9. Depends on the airline but it wasn't that uncommon in the Mormon air force. Seniority combined with instructor pay and some people cross that threshold of willing to go back to the bottom of the list. You get your fair share of "unique" people but most are good people who just didn't strike the gold mine of timing.
  10. Those be some fancy @hindsight2020 words
  11. Great now my repressed memories of St Johns are back...
  12. I’m surprised this dude hasn’t been fired yet. His ethos seems opposite of what SECDEF and co are looking for? probably just isnt on their radar yet? Hegseth - “He, like me, wants a Pentagon laser-focused on lethality, meritocracy, warfighting, accountability and readiness.”
  13. That hits a little close to home.
  14. https://www.dvidshub.net/image/8845054/177th-fighter-wing-nfc-championship-2025-flyover This is the NFC championship flyover to save people some googling Edit: found the video
  15. crew chief. build some character. don't be a puss. bust your ass. let your work speak for itself. people notice that shit. probably not the "best" job, but that's what I'd recommend. but if you wanna find an easy job with more facetime brabus is def correct. but leaders aren't made taking the easy road. (damn that sounded gay).
  16. I disagree with most of this rambling, but I had to downvote for the last 6 words. disgusting... Go Lions.
  17. ACORN! SHOTS FIRED!
  18. Been down the ETP road. Went well till it didn’t go well, had lots of weight backing it up too and went all the way to the top. Good luck, best advice would be don’t let your life stop while you wait for the Air Force to do the right thing. That’s how I ended up with better seniority than most dudes I generate sorties for. Odds aren’t in your favor, but don’t let it stop you from trying still, it’s possible. pm me and I’m happy to share what I got but the AF has probably developed a new form and process for it all by now. All streamlined and efficient I’m sure… /s
  19. Since there will probably be lots of military and leadership books galore, here is one that is a little different. it’s basically a collection of cases that he has worked over the years. Got lucky to read it for 1 credit back in the college days. Should be required reading for anyone that manages people or processes.
  20. at least 25% to make even a tiny dent. I'd shoot for 50%. So much dead weight hanging around this place. And wasted money. I'd nominate @Biff_T for SecDef. Not some indoctrinated general who has played the game for 30 years. Someone who gives a shit about killing bad dudes efficiently and genuinely cares about the people that are tasked with that objective. And somehow I think dirndls would make it into an official uniform.
  21. Democrats gonna cry about this one, I can already hear the screeching now. But If he can just manage to impose term limits on congress that would be one of the greatest achievements of any president ever.
  22. https://www.technologyreview.com/2024/10/22/1104766/how-mits-rad-lab-rescued-d-day/ Cool history on the technology that changed the war. Also outlines how important logistics has always been, and I never realized how devastating the numbers were behind the German U boat attacks on allied ships in the Atlantic.
