  1. You are fundamentally wrong here. Democrats have done an AMAZING job of convincing their base that Republicans are generally evil. In fact, both parties have successfully contorted their cultural war platform into a morality war platform, which has provided vigor to their base that this is a political fight that needs won for moral reasons. If I don't support democratic/liberal/progressive values I am clearly a racist, a misogynist, homophobic, fascist etc... This has blanket applied to every single Republican candidate in every election and progressives have pushed and promoted it.
  2. Omg found some gold on Reddit.... "It's coming out now!" https://www.reddit.com/r/facepalm/comments/zh4can/why_did_this_lady_just_expect_the_owner_to_ignore/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=3&utm_content=share_button

Everyone: "Nothing is new in Hollywood anymore. All they do is reboots and comic book movies." Elizabeth Banks: "Hold my beer...."
  4. TBH I think wearing mask in a clinic actually makes since and probably should stick. Not just COVID, but really healthcare facilities are places sick people conjugate. Mask are effective with some types of illness. I would like to see our culture change a bit where people do start wearing mask when they have the sniffles and work centers become more tolerant of sick leave. I'm tired of this societal nonsense that you should tough it out when you're sick and go to work spewing snot everywhere. Not talking military here but mainstream society. Everywhere else though.... Yeah get rid of it.
  5. I do see some argument that there is a case to be made that keeping production giants in competition against each other over the life cycle of the platform versus the initial bid, does have some merit. Like any asset investment, its hedging the risk. So if in 5 years we determine the Bell is an absolute shit show in some capacity, perhaps that is now hedged by the Boeing product which is not quite overall as great, but at least does that one thing well. There's also the idea that you are keeping multiple production facilities open now which is a great hedge for a WW3 type event. Especially since Bell might be reliant on ball bearings but Boeing not so much. (This is all hypothetical). Maybe structure it so that the best overall performance to cost aircraft gets 2/3 to 3/4 of the buy and the remainder goes to the loser, but ONLY if the losing aircraft can still meet the contract minimums. In any case, I think the DoD does need to start getting more creative with how it buys/contracts. The B-21 thread is the perfect example. We are stuck in evolutions and not revolutions. At some point you can only invest in the same strategy for so long before the returns of that strategy diminish. I'm concerned the B-21 wont be the massive leap over the B-2 we need for the type of high tech warfare 2030 and beyond is looking to encapsulate.
  6. I'm currently enjoying the Reddit storm of progressive pro-labor types going fucking nuts that Joe Biden averted the railway strike. Its like they can't comprehend that a democratic president would do something that is anti-union.
  7. We did one time and came back to our apartment early to find other kids that were not ours running around our home and our child being neglected. Lady double booked us and didn't want to admit it so she thought she would hide other family's kids at our place. Will never do that again. Came highly recommended, no criminal past, etc.... Just an example how all of that can be meaningless. Its not about whether you can or can't find anyone. I just don't care. It doesn't bother me if someone has successfully repented. That's not an overnight process and certainly doesn't happen the moment they're released from prison. But like I said, some of the most amazing contributions to society have been made by individuals actively seeking redemption. You're all jumping to the conclusion that this person committed homicide. The vast majority of felonies are drug related or assault. The assault charges are often complicated as well. We'd like to believe it was some dude who snapped and pummeled someone but it's usually a bar fight or some aggressive shoving that someone didn't like. Not that those things are bad but those are circumstances that are easy for most people to imagine themselves in. Especially in a society that feels strongly protective of their family and loved ones. (Yeah most of your self defense scenarios are not going to fly legal muster, especially in many liberal states where there are expectations to retreat, no stand your ground statutes.) I don't really find anything all that special about the job of flying airplanes that I wouldn't be able to trust the vast majority of people who are appropriately trained to do it. Yeah you can have discussions about judgement and decision making. But I've literally flown with dozens of pilots who have made absolutely terrible decisions either flying or in another aspect of their life, and they were still allowed to fly. Lets also not forget we live in a society that has deemed it ok to weaponize law enforcement to meet ends on political and personal vendettas; as well as the fact that legal, moral and ethical are all different concepts and rarely overlap neatly.
  8. I don't foresee it happening. We've had government shutdowns before but I don't see Republicans risking the blame for this one on the vaccine. Im not happy about the vaccine mandate but I don't see this changing whole Biden is in office.
  9. I love that these bought you so much enjoyment.
  10. What platform did he post this from? Is this his weird Twitter substitute?
  11. I don't normally allow anyone to watch my children so your point is moot. Regardless, people should be afforded the opportunity to redeem trust and gain confidence in society again. Child sex offenders have extremely low recidivism versus other types of crimes. Also lots of people permanently stigma'd to a list because their 17 to GF's parents didn't like her dating a 19 yo. Everything requires context and evolution of trust. You might not higher a prior child porn addict to be a school teacher but that shouldn't stop them from pursuing law, adult medicine, or even being a pilot. We tend to be stricter as a society with sex crimes because we see them as a perversion of impulse where the person is incapable of self control. However, that isn't the case with the vast majority of felonies and there is nothing specifically impulse triggering about flying an airplane. I work with a lot of justice impacted veterans now. We have hundreds of felons come through our national veterans treatment courts each year. The vast majority are decent people who are guilty of extremely poor decision making and often became entangled with drugs and substance abuse as a means with coping with some very hard realities that the DoD and VA will never do anything to help you for. The vast majority recognize their actions caused hurt to some people and they're truly remorseful for that. With the right guidance and mentorship most go on to be stalwart contributors to our society. Many of the best services to society were provided by people giving gratitude for the forgiveness they were given following something heinous they had done they were sorry for.
  12. Personally I don't care if they're a former felon. You can risk analyze that all you want but the data also says that felons are more likely to recidivate when they are denied gainful employment and reintegration into society. Who the fuck is going to go from a white collar employee, lawyer, or pilot to being a lawn care worker? Without the concept of redemption in our culture it means no one is better than their worst day. That's a sad world because it ignores the fact that many of us grow as humans and become more phenomenal the longer we are on earth.
  13. You don't get Per Diem at Whitman it's a PCS.....
  14. I earnestly would be but honestly I believe Joe thinks Twitter is his nieces pet farm chicken.
  15. If you want to fly and stay one place long term, consider manned ISR. CCall for example, you will be at DM for a decade. There is no other CCall base. RC-135s will net you Offut for a similar length. AWACs folks have more options but noone is going to stop you from hiding in Tinker.
  16. Here's the thing though. Elon Musk has $190B. Even if Twitter goes Tits up tomorrow and he loses everything, He's still the second richest person in the world, the richest American, and most importantly, still richer than Jeff, Mark and Bill. And even if that happens, the worst outcome, at the end of the day--Elon would have been successful at dismantling one of the largest liberal disinformation machines on the planet. There isn't a single universe where that all happens and Elon isnt considered winning. That said, I don't think it's going to happen that way. Because in the end, Twitter isn't doing as bad as people think. All of tech is hurting bad right now which is kind of obfuscating how much of an effect Elon on his own is having on Twitter. And lots of people still using Twitter, including liberal celebrities who use it to announce they're trading their Tesla's. Vast majority of people are too lazy to try new social media platforms because "bad space man say mean things." What's really whacko about this is Elon isn't even conservative, he's very neutral. Dude was out supporting Obama, Clinton and Biden over the last 3 elections. But like so many other moderates the progressive wing of democrats totally threw him on the pyre for even insinuating their narrative of Uber wokeism is even possibly incorrect and now the whole party has attempted to follow.

  19. https://fb.watch/h3pz-Ud1BL/ US soldiers baited while walking through mall in Poland. In all honesty, 100 percent hats off to these guys for composing as amazing as they did. And fuck the loser behind the camera who's never done anything meaningful with his life.
  20. So of note, I've been playing with the inference parameters which determine how literal or figuratively the AI takes your phrase and I've probably messed them up. So i'm not always getting results in line with what I had anticipated anymore.
  21. Hahaha. Sorry, its been a busy life. This wait is starting to become unacceptable: The last selfie ever: (Pay attention to the facial hair on the dude.... that gives me creeps) Low Speed, High Drag: High Speed, Low Drag: Hook them all: The O Club: FAIP Mafia:
  22. In the defense of industry though the pay is generally higher all around. You don't need to be *as reactive* with these things when you're paying people on par with their skill set to begin with. I also think a major problem for the DoD at the moment is the moral injury left by the defeat in GWOT. When you rely on "service to your country" as a significant portion of your compensation package but then fail to deliver ends in that nature you're going to have a whole generation of young people saying "couldnt I do more good for the world somewhere else?" And the problem is.... right now, they absolutely can.
  23. If we do war with China this is the asshole we need to be worried about, just saying.
  24. Most WTF thing in there was that his daughter arranged the whole thing,..... like holy shit....
  25. You don't want it. Trust me. Its going to cause you more heartburn than its worth. I'm saying that as someone who's been there/done that. If you're graduating and entering the career world shortly, you are going to want something that is very reliable and cheap to get work done on. The last thing you want is to have to get up at 6am to be early to work for an important event and the engine wont turn over, or you flooded the motor (common problem on rotaries). Once you have a primary set of reliable wheels, then you can look at a hobby car.
