  1. Thanks for the responses. I would like to make airlines work somehow, but I'm being murdered on PIC time. I have plenty of total time but a non-vul to RPAs followed by an MWS change that started me back as a copilot again have killed me. Recently met a guy from Kalitta who offered me a referral but I'm not sure how competitive it would be without the 500 PIC.
  2. Anyone have experience with Kalitta Air (cargo)? Thoughts? I honestly hadn't heard much of them until recently. (I guess just based on where I grew up) But according to the gouge sheet on APC they seem competitive with other major carriers.
  3. Great analysis of the topic. Thanks for posting that.
  4. Don't worry, I know lots of 11Rs not taking it..... ......what too soon?
  5. Only thing to add is the service (AF) can drop the GI Bill transfer ADSC, but the VA *will* cancel the transfer benefit and retroactively recoup any payments if you don't complete the ADSC (people have been bit by being days short of completing the gi bill transfer commitment and hit with a massive bill). Can you bypass that by transferring to the guard/reserve and finishing out time there?
  6. Great ideas, thanks for the inputs. Any idea ls on what to emphasize or how to write on myself for seeking non-airline jobs?
  7. I believe you can send a letter to the board requesting not to be promoted so you can seperate. Isn't Duck an expert on that? Someone on here I know did it about a year or two ago.
  8. Anyone have any golden LinkedIn account tips? I'm setting up my profile for the first time.
  9. Jesus dude, biased much? How do you come to this assessment? Based off of a single anecdote of a single person having a run in on a flight line? I think they didn't become pilots, surgeons or Navy Seals because that's not really what they wanted to do.
  10. A better system is to approximate years of life saved. The average age of people dieing from COVID is only a year and a half less than the average life expectancy in the US. Hence you can estimate 10 COVID deaths cost about 15 years of life/productivity in society. If a vaccine causes a 30 year old to develop blood clots and die, that cost just over 45 years of life and useful contributions that person would have made to society. 3X more than the ten COVID deaths. Hence, bar napkin math'ing here, the vaccine needs to be at least 30X safer than the disease. That's the utilitarian moral argument. There are others as well: for example, many would say because older people have already made a great contribution to society, we owe it to them to make sacrifices and protect them. The nuanced question here is who's life has more value?
  11. Does anyone remember how long you have to get our after accepting VSP? I can't remember if it's 6 months or until the end of the FY. 6 months just seems like a firehose to seperate and removes the ability to get into programs like CSB.
  12. Yeah I'm referring to the PIT waivers. Not the soul cause of problems, just a contributing factor. Anyway my overarching point is HAF/A1 rarely makes decisions that make any sense. Whether 11Rs are offered a VSP or not, I'm certain we are all going to be left jaw dropped wondering "why?"
  13. Doesn't really work that way. Your core afsc doesn't change when you go to UPT. You are still an 11R on paper (and as it is, 11Rs are still filling a huge gap of UPT billets for the size community they are). So many of those manning overages on paper are pilots already assigned to UPT. Trust me, 11Rs have been filling their fair share of these for quite some time. Most recently to the detriment of the ops squadrons due to the AETC prohibition on AC waivers.
  14. It's true. Germany is in talks to acquire Sputnik by early Summer.
  15. I dunno. 11Rs have a good shot actually. They are 120% right now and AFPC has no intention of letting them x train.
  16. Uhhhh.... Bidens history with racism, sex assault allegations with Tara Reade, the potential cover ups for his son (not just Ukraine but dozens of shady business dealings), his scetchy history on accepting graft from lobbyist, draft dodging (if trump draft dodged than so definitely did Biden), I mean, you can make a pretty good case he is a despicable human being. Edit: almost forgot plagiarizing through law school.
  17. Yup. I travel the NL, Belgium and Germany routinely, and essentially the lockdown posture has never altered from when the pandemic first started. It has "eased" for a few weeks at a time here and there but for the most part personal liberties have been non existent. It is REALLY starting to wear on people here. A group of us just got back from the US and were shocked to see it was like a pandemic wasn't even happening. People wore mask but we were largely free to go shopping, eat at restaurants or go to events. Meanwhile, Europe has completely bungled its vaccination plans and so their cases continue to rise. Add on top of that Germany and France's stiff opposition to anything resembling a "vaccine passport" and it really doesn't matter anyway. Its quite clear with Germany leading the EU on this endeavor, that Europe doesn't intend to exit lockdown until 2022 at the earliest. And yes, there are major protest over the lockdowns here. The NL and Belgium have seen quite a few. In Germany the police often break them up. No true freedom of assembly there.
  18. There's also enough flyers you can cycle different people through. The number of officers per squadron is quite high amongst rated fields. For SF, MX and other squadrons though that ratio is much much much lower.
  19. Interesting theory behind if though. The article isn't saying that lockdown has prevented suicides but that a limited phenomena has staved them off. While the US will likely resume a normal life sometime this year, it is begging to look like Europe is going increasingly interested in waiting until next summer. (2022) I would be interested to compare their statistics as their lockdown continues to get harsher and longer.
  20. Funny you say that because this dude had a shiny waxed cue ball up top.
  21. It's not uncommon for non Aircrew types to command multiple times. Met an SF Lt Col once going to his 4th squadron command.
  22. Ironic coming from a guy who got his startup in politics by running on a platform of maintaining Jim Crow/racial segregation.
  23. The real litmus test is how many of these off brand conservative networks have permanent seats in the James S. Brady room? Quite a few, like OAN have shared seats, or pick up seats on lucky occasions. But the preponderance of seats lie with CNN, NBC, FOX, ABC, CBS or one of their affiliates though.
  24. Copy.... And we will all wait for you to retake highschool debate lol. You're better than this man.
  25. https://nypost.com/2021/04/02/couple-accidentally-paints-over-500000-work-of-art/ In other news, couple accidentally paints 3 'ugly' black splotches over already ugly art worth $500K. I don't know why anyone is pissed, those 3 black splotches clearly make this worth $650K now.
