  1. Especially since they predict over 2/3 of the US population will contract the virus before this is over. Wtf do they think they are going to find recruits?
  2. I think I've heard the requirements for PIT IP is you must have been an AETC instructor, but any AETC instructor. So an AETC FTU is qualifying for instance.
  3. Oh man that's so true. I tell people when I look back on it, the Air Force NEVER taught me to fly a plane. They handed me a manual and some CBTs and I taught myself. The Air Force simply provided a safety net of expereinced pilots in the back seat in case I screwed up who ensured I was continuing to make progress before letting me fly myself in a hole.
  4. Lol, bro, wouldn't worry too hard on your flight. UPT (at least at the 3 main bases) is pretty standardized. Everyone had a fairly similar experience going through regardless of flight. Just study hard, be a good bro, help your classmates out if they struggle and ask for help if you are struggling.
  5. That's going to open up a whole oppurtunity for green to blue then eh? Wasn't that always the limfac before was that Army WOs didn't have fixed wing time? Maybe the AF thinks I'd they can kill T-6s for rotary they can slowly leech the Army's WO's with promises of better pay and lifestyle.
  6. I'd argue it's a shit show because we have already given ground on this and we are too specialized. Like I said earlier, we can go this direction and train pilots quicker with more focus on specialty, but let's cut the shit that we are training the world's greatest pilots then, because from my pov, half of the world's greatest pilots probably don't know how to fly VFR to an uncontrolled field to grab a burger right now, and that says something. Sully didn't ditch an air craft and save hundreds of lives using automation and an advanced autopilot. It took expereince, instinct, and solid comprehension of the basics applied to a more complex environment.

  8. Well for one, the T-6 is not a multiengine aircraft. So you would need to move multiengine fundamentals to every heavy FTU.
  9. Well I can tell you C2ISR probably doesn't give a shit. Most of their GOs are going to be EWOs or ABMs so they really care less about aircraft pilot production. My expereince in C2ISR was that we mainly subscribe to the MAF on best practices and common/similar type air frames.
  10. I would say the fact that you identify needs by community would indicate you don't see the same problem as everyone else, hence, your going to argue to a wall at this point forward. What most people here are trying to communicate, is that UPT is the only oppurtunity you focus on being a good pilot in your career. Do communities need "this and that" is a loaded question. What people are edged about here was there was a time the USAF could say it produced the best pilots on earth, and all of us, being USAF pilots, took certain pride in that. I don't think you can continue to say that when the AF has now refocused it's priorities to graduating pilots with the minimal effort expended, or even hiring outside pilots and not training them at all. The fallout isn't an overnight mission failure but a slow regression in safety, best practices and eventually confidence and capability to complete more advanced tasks while flying an aircraft. There will be a point where the USAF won't be an authority on those topics, and as the nation's primary air component do we really want that?
  11. I remember in Tucson warbirds used to do an annual fly-in to get qualified on disimilar formations with USAF aircraft. They would come in to TIA and over a week practice flying with various modern fighters and transport aircraft so that during airshows they could assist the USAF with heritage flights. It was pretty cool. 250 though would be quite an impact. Sounds like a good reason to use my COT leave if the travel ban lifts.
  12. Sad to hear how much of UPT has eroded. I can understand the immediate logic behind cutting sorties for T-1 students but the reality is the AF always made better pilots slightly above the cut of the civil sector because we focused on building good airman (in the occupational sense of the word) first. You may never do a loop in your RC-135 but the concepts behind energy management and visual ques translated over every platform in a multitude of other skill sets. More than that, you instilled fierce confidence that graduates were able to take airplanes and fly them at their performance envelopes. Simply put, there was a time where the Air Force cared about making great pilots first, and then finding a weapon system for them. Now the emphasis seems to be getting them to a weapon system, and we'll worry about the pilot stuff later.
  13. Yes. The ROK has always held that it is the rightful sovereign of the entire Korean peninsula and the north is an illegitimate shadow government. It even has governor's appointed for each of the districts in the north with a full cabinet and legislature for each. Obviously that's a pretty benign job at the moment because sK doesn't have any real power to exert control in the north but those individuals would be expected to jump in and fulfill their role during a reunification. This is a super important point for the pro reunification arms of the sK government because if nK ever does collapse, sK will need political legitimacy to enter the north and try to control it. You are correct though that most South Koreans aren't excited about reunification. At this point the close ties of broken families are gone and there is enormous cultural seperation. East and West Germany pale as a comparisons. The ROK government actually commissioned a study on Germany after the fall of the Berlin Wall. I think the wealth gap difference of north and south Korea was something like 17X larger than the difference of east and west Germany.
  14. Best case scenario in my opinion is a strong general or party leader with a moderate political leaning is able to garner enough support to purge the remnants of the Kim family and hold the thrown himself. Then slowly step back isolation over decades to enter the world economy. But the likelihood of all those stars alligning is pretty narrow. Worst case scenario is the party collapses and a handful of "strong men" generals and party chiefs vie for position and fracture with a divide on whether to reach out to China or ROK for aid. Internal civil war that makes Syria look like a game of highschool slap ass ensues and the accountability of over 50 nuclear weapons goes missing in a land with a sizeable population of people who either have nothing to win and everything to lose or everything to win and nothing to lose. Take your pick which will be more reckless. Civilian population on both ends will then flood the ROK, Chinese and Russian borders, of which none of those countries will be prepared to recieve them. The potential that China will want to enter nK to pacify portions near it's border and take control of said nuclear weapons will put us at odds with portions of the ROK that will want to continue to claim political sovereignty over the north. It's going to be an enormous nightmare that will drain trillions out of the world economy and likely lead to the most of millions of lives.
  15. Uhhhh I would not describe the ROK as pacifist. Having worked closely with them I think there were more times we had to pull them off then fence than the other way around. Also, this is not neccessarily a good thing. It's certainly better than full on hostilities but if you've seen the discussion on what would happen if nK internally collapsed you would know the global security crises it's likely to generate is going to be massive.
  16. Japanese media is reporting that he is in a vegitative state. This is a shockingly interesting development if that is true.
  17. Bro I haven't even been able to get registered. Noone is responding to open tickets anymore. It's a total fuck train.
  18. I've got two married friends on seperate remote 365s that finally had a join spouse follow on. Both are being extended now. Have a few other friends on accompanied short tours in Korea who were just extended over two years and now lose their short tour credit. This whole thing is severely disrupting a lot of lives.
  19. So there is no intent under the baby leave rules that specifies it is for staying at home and taking care of the small human. I would say using it to go see family, especially if you are OCONUS, is a very valid reason to take leave. Probably more valid than our 3 week trip around SE Asia. I would write an ETP and send it up. Worst they can do is say no. Then use the Heather Wilson rule. If they dont respond in 60 days, assume it's approved. I never heard Barrett say that rule didn't apply anymore.

    ACSC OLMP?

Funny thing is I honestly have no idea why I'm doing it. For me it's really hard to close the door on something though. Also, I don't like this AF culture bullshit of once they get wind that you have thoughts of getting out, screw you and drop you to the bottom of the stack. So I just keep playing the game because I can't stop.

    ACSC OLMP?

My understanding is all Army officers in an operations career field will attend ILE (their IDE). Is this not correct?

    ACSC OLMP?

Submit a support ticket to my private message box and in 3 days I'll consider fixing it. Or I might give you some ambiguous advice that won't fix it. Either way, I just gave a half a shit more than the AF did about their PME programs.

    ACSC OLMP?

When I say "they" don't care, I don't mean the people directly responsible for the program. I'm sure they care. But rightly, if big blue cared, they would invest in that office with more money and manpower. Consider the fact that the Army sends EVERYONE in residence, and then compare. The AF simply doesn't want to be bothered with something it sees as useless. I'm sure if we bought 1 less F-35 we could probably have a state of the art e campus to make Trident university proud. But we don't do that, because we are cultured to believe 1 F-35 brings more combat power than educating our entire officer corp.

    ACSC OLMP?

Dude I'm still struggling to get registered. They auto registered me under a base specific email. I have no idea how they even got it since we've moved to the AF.mil and then the cloud since we had base specific email servers. Then to change my login they redirect me to a website that no longer exist. The help application is a total train wreck. The minute ammount of care they put into details like software and material really cement that the AF doesn't give a shit about you if you are not a school select.
