  1. And not just SOCOM, the CAF entertained it for a while too. Yes to outfit our own forces but also to enhance partner training and Interoperability. I just see this as the fundamental hindrance to LAF though. SOCOM wants this FID/SAF tool and CAF kind of wants it but doesn't see the value enough to divest other projects. Again this is all opinion based from me.
  2. Most of the higher levels of AF leadership come from the CAF. It is my oppinion that building partner relationships is one of the weaker competencies of the CAF community. I say that having worked on two combined staffs as a CAF background myself. CAF leaders simply dont get the international exposure early in their career and by the time they hit the operational levels they are programmed to believe the USAF can go it alone. I can't count the number of times I've done a combined RED FLAG and listened to bemoaning that our PN Air Forces were going to hold us back, limit our TTPs, or otherwise detract from the exercise. There is no excitement to build those relationships. Simply put, I'm not sure this priority will change in the near future. (Disclaimer: I'm not saying this is everyone in the CAF, there are exceptions. This is just my perception of a generalization as a whole.)
  3. I'm in Korea also and was told the same thing In short, I was told that I won't be reimbursed until my next PCS and I will only be reimbursed for what the government would have paid for storage. I was able to acquire an individual unit for my car and belongings each. That said, I may have been spoon fed BS and not get reimbursed. But I was in a situation where I didn't have much a choice and I was able to acquire cheap storage regardless. Good luck. If you have any other Korea questions you can PM me. Are you coming with dependents?
  4. Not even. We wasted an ammo cache and a cave entrance. I think we all know now those terms glorify a tarp over an AK-47 and a tarp over a basement. Wonder how much the munitions cost to take out that tarp and AK-47?
  5. If that's how you feel you're in the wrong thread brutha.....
  6. More questions: How do you count UPT time? SIM time? Does it depend on the class sim? Really great answers so far. Thanks for those of you in the know for contributing.
  7. I will concur, cyber did some awesome shit in OIR and also GWOT. I had a very limited peak behind the curtain being at the right organization at the right time and I have a new respect for this field.
  8. If they're in need of bodies they don't act like it. I've tried to crossflow for two VMLs and was told I didnt line up with training dates.
  9. Look under the careers other than airlines thread. There was some good info posted recently there.
  10. The dangers of "resetting your baseline."
  11. Another question, do airlines generally discount other time. IE, they only care about time at controls?
  12. Just curious, how much PIC time is competitive these days?
  13. Sounds like a culture of excessive risk but not sure. I feel like it's rare to see a CC fired after a mishap though unless it's ORM abuse.
  14. This video was what the Air Force was up through my first deployment. Nunya nailed it with the alternate reality. The longer I stayed in the more the dream wilted into a gilded shadow of the experience I thought it was. It makes me sad to think about it. It's like being in that final phase of a relationship where you remember how awesome the initial romance was but now you know she's cheating on you and you're to afraid to say anything or leave, but regardless in the next few months, the fling will be over and youre gonna cradle yourself in a period of self loathing gym gains buried in cacoon creatine shakes and Maxim mags. FML.
  15. All this talk gave me an idea to make a shitty meme. So here you go, I propose, the 3-Piece Flight Suit. As a side note, it comes with a nice inner liner pocket for holding stack wads of money.
  16. Dude it was friggin crazy how risky some people thought it was to cancel IFR 50nm out from base and follow a highway back with a sectional map. It was the same route we flew from the MOA 100X and even other ACs couldn't identify landmarks to get back if we lost instrumentation.
  17. I'm complaining. Seriously. One wrong twist of the sleeve in the Cadillac and your whole ing night is ruined. I really can't see the animosity over this. Who the gets this worked up over clothes?
  18. You would be surprised how much people in the military don't know. When I left my 11R platform filing VFR was like a Pandora's box of mystery to them. They thought it was this way out there wierd thing that needed special preparation and planning. VFR. You know, what every GA pilot does until they get instrument qual'd. The military had it's strengths but each community has their weaknesses as well. At the end of the day the aviation sector is huge and people will specialize in their organizations niche. Hanging out at an FBO and talking to some old timers is a great way to realize how much you haven't seen, even with an Air Force background.
  19. We are better at it than most people think. Our problem is DISA and NSA block the components from really maintaining or managing a service specific warfighting capability. It has to go up to SECDEF anytime a service component wants to do something outside the reigns of these two organizations and it normally comes back denied because the correct service leader is unable to argue against an agency head in front of the JCS.
  20. Tricky through. As soon as you put military hardware in a commercial jet it becomes a legal target. But maybe I'm not flowing your train of thought.
  21. I'm more with matamcwc. Why dont we put a radar on a dozen RPAs and fly them simoltaneoulsy in the battlespace while they broadcast their picture to fighters/CRC. I would add the same thing could be done with sigint packages and ground radars. Is it necceassary to have the C2 crew airborne? A network based construct like this allows for Fielding cheap/replaceable sensors in a redundant fashion. The biggest aim of AWACS to begin with was to leverage air powers third dimensional advantages on line of sight posturing but previously we never possessed a capability to relay that information over a broadcast. Now the recipients of sensor data can be anywhere in the world.
  22. Leadership when they lower the bonus 10G. They might not be saying it to the masses but that is what they are saying. Like it or not the value of your labor is largely determined by your investment from your employer.
  23. Hell even if they aren't safe by our standards to fly there would be some huge benefit to kitting them up as drone targets and taking shots on them. You cant really beat $10M for 20 targets that real.

    Latest Movies

His entry sucked too. They completely shat the bed with EP 7 and 8. They couldn't stop geeking out over the original trilogy references and write a story that stood on its own. His entry wasn't so bad on its own. It was deliberately pulling those classic trilogy heart strings to get old fans who fell off after the prequels to come back on. I agree some more creativity could have been injected but overall, I rated 7 better than 1-3. Then 8 came out and it made 7 even worse. Likely because it is an extension of the same movie. If no one else caught on, 8 is the only movie that has no time skip between episodes. Every other movie was spread out over years and 8 felt like an immediate continuation of 7, which in turn, made both of them suck more.
  25. Dude either way you had an incredible career. If you cannot get a waiver/ETP and it interest you, the RPA/MQ-9 community would really treasure you experience, if it interest you. Best of luck. I hope it all works out.
