  1. I found another one that should resign! If this information is true (never can tell these days) then the CG of the 82nd Airborne Division should apologize to America and resign. https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/us-general-tells-british-special-forces-stop-rescuing-people-in-kabul-youre-making-us-look-bad From the article: "...the commanding general of the 82nd Airborne Division has told the commander of the British special forces at the Kabul airport to cease operations beyond the airport perimeter." "...the British officer firmly rejected the request." God save the Queen!
  2. Shots fired! https://www.nationalreview.com/2021/08/milley-and-austin-should-resign/?utm_source=recirc-desktop&utm_medium=article&utm_campaign=right-rail&utm_content=top-stories&utm_term=third Now if only we could get the editors over at CNN to call for the same...
  3. Great, sounds like we're having to buy fuel from the Taliban for our aircraft - at least that is what the weasel words coming out of these bureaucrats' mouths seem to indicate: https://twitter.com/itsSpencerBrown/status/1428372667191734274 The press has these fools tap dancing. I also love how the Army 2-star can't answer a simple question without looking over at the Ministry of Truth (Kirby). ADD HIS NAME TO THE LIST OF FOOLS THAT SHOULD RESIGN!!!
  4. We spend billions annually on defense yet we have no capability. Checks. https://news.usni.org/2021/08/18/secdef-austin-u-s-lacks-capability-in-kabul-to-create-safe-passage-for-americans-afghans-to-leave-afghanistan I just watched the joint SECDEF and Gen Milley news conference - they were being checkmated by very basic press questions. Based upon the questions alone I would wager that some of the reporters would have done a better job of planning the Afghan exit than the bureaucrats we've got at the helm now. I am genuinely hoping that at least one 4-star (hopefully more) gets fired over this. Not a resignation. I mean a public, on-air, firing. It will speak volumes as to the state of our leadership if they don't. The only thing they need to be commanding right now is a golf ball on the golf course.
  5. The Air Force is good at crushing my mental health by sending me on back-to-back-to-back staff jobs (to include deploying me to a staff job from a staff job).
  6. Woke up this morning to videos of people falling off of C-17s mid-flight (after hanging onto the outside of the aircraft no less). I am literally speechless after seeing that. I've been to AFG a couple of times (with one tour on the USFOR-A staff) ... I understand how difficult it is to plan anything over there. Based upon the news/images/videos coming out of AFG it almost appears as if we totally assumed away our force protection and left that for the AFG government to handle. What does it say about the plan when POTUS has to get involved and order troops back into country to provide security? Somebody should be held accountable ... agree that they probably won't. The "beautiful people" will receive their Legions of Merit while the troops on the ground (pilots, SOF, Marines, etc.) are forced to execute this completely feckless plan.
  7. Did someone call for a clown?
  8. FIFY. Can't wait to see the look on the bureaucrat's face when I claim that my heart inflammation is service-related. There is one bright spot though... I found the constant virtue signaling from my chain-of-management utterly tiresome. Hopefully that PSYOP will stop.
  9. Shack. At the end of the day this thread is nothing but a bunch of strangers throwing web links at each other and calling each other idiots. I don't take medical advice from strangers I meet on the sidewalk. Nothing here is going to change my mind. On the other hand I have been entertained by all the deranged socialists foaming at the mouth at every post that doesn't fall in line with the Ministry of Truth.
  10. I think that Lord Ratner is hitting center of mass on this one but with one exception: the bureaucracy has become so stifling that even the best-intentioned leaders are struggling to make a difference. I do not blame pilots. A bunch of MSG Colonels and Generals wouldn’t do any better. Exhibit A: When Gen Welsh was appointed CSAF everyone was fired up about him righting the ship. By most accounts people were disappointed. I think it was death by a thousand cuts once the bureaucracy got it hands on him. And by bureaucracy I mean HAF, SAF, OSD, and Congress. Having seen these monstrous staffs from the fringe I can't imagine how we accomplish anything.
  11. The last time I was thanked for my service it was a mom who brought over her 4 year old son. They said "Thank you" and I gave my standard reply: "You're welcome." I then commented on the little boy's shirt because it had F-15s and F-16s on it. It was genuine. I think that our fellow citizens are doing the best that they can. To say "completely disinterested" is a bit unfair. How do citizens hold politicians accountable? Elections. Over the last few years our fellow citizens have delivered us several different configurations of government between Democrats and Republicans: President, control of the House/Senate. Nothing really seems to change. In fact, last I heard, we're thinking about sending more troops to AFG for the sweet train, advise, assist goodness.
  12. Yes, having seen/worked the 17D manning from the MAJCOM level it is amazing to behold the devastation. My favorite line from the Officer Assignments Team (OAT) brief is: "Majors will be doing Lt Col's jobs, Capts will be doing Majors jobs, and LTs will be doing Capts jobs." So...we won't promote you but we'll give you all the responsibility. Oh, and is it just me for has the number of General Officer 17D billets been drastically cut? I've only seen the inside of one MAJCOM HQ reorganization but the A6 one-star billet was cut when they combined the A2/3/6.
  13. Did you see any of the promotion data used to support this assertion? I spend some time as a FAM and the assignment team seemed to indicate that I was asking for rather sensitive data. I did not have access to enough information to try and calculate it myself.
  14. Hate to interrupt the hatedont beat down but I have a quick question regarding selective continuation. Is continuation normally offered one year at a time which means that you will meet a continuation board every year? If I remember the AFI wording correctly it doesn't give a default continuation term but reading through the forums here seems to suggest everyone gets a year.
