  2. If you went to the army fix wing course, you can get hired as a rated guy for heavys and go direct to a transition course. Say u got hired by a tanker guard unit, after going thru the ARB with NGB you would go direct to Altus. There was a bro at my PIQ class in Altus. He flew CH46s for the marines. Only fix wing time to his name was from T6s at UPT… back when it was joint course with USAF navy and USMC… after 1500 hrs in the 46s he went direct to Altus for a transition course. So u could do it too. Good luck! Ur in a better spot than I was. Even with 1500 hrs of 47 but no fix wing time I had to compete like an off the street guy and attend the full UPT. It was a blast. 3. I’m tired of all the damn cartoon sketches. We can’t we get the media in there like the Kyle Rittenhouse trial. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  4. Curious to hear if your tanker location has a big influence on why you want to leave the tank. Or perhaps the people running the place making young co’s hate life. I get it’s an old platform… and sometimes I feel like I am having to use smoke signals to talk to tower vs what the other bros in newer jets have to play with. But overall I like the tank… I am at a chill location with a bunch good bros and gals to fly with. For sure don’t stop being a good bro… and continue to do your best to progress in the jet. I’ve seen plenty of dudes kinda stall out cus they have a chip on their shoulders about not getting the platform they wanted. Don’t let that be you. Stay motivated to progress with what you have while you attack all other options available. Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  5. Damn… is this program to blame for why leadership at the Deid Sucks? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  6. Troll alert… what’s the alternative?? Eat shit at the regionals?? UPT hopefuls: keep chasing the dream bros! Cheers Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

  8. We can now wear regular multicam hats with our multicams... which is pissing the hell out the army guys having to wear the regular standard issue one.
  9. What is his definition of "taking control"? I have an army bro flying 47s evacuating people in and out. They were handed grenades at one point because the plan was for them to finish evacuating people, throw a grenade in the cockpit of the helo, and run to jump on the last fix wing punching out. Great strategy... not sure if its going work out.
  10. He is a freaking joke... C'mon, man...
  11. Could not agree more. Specially when they are walking around focusing on useless "60 day stand downs" that do nothing... or telling the troops that the biggest threat out there is climate change... what a joke. I hope they don't think their job is secured because its "someone else's fault".

  13. The latest MFR stated 33 yrs and 8 yrs Total federal commission time (for if you come across non rated officers from other branches)… from what I saw at UPT last year, if a unit wanted to sponsor a candidate above 33, it was approved. There was a 39 yr old NAV going thru upt as a major…. Plenty of old bros out there hacking it. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  14. Don’t forget back in those days when the “poo pond” was alive and well, if the winds blew from the west… the smell of crap would stick to everything. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  15. That happened to me at KAF all the time. However, I was flying helos in the Army back in those days… and I always thought “ this, I’m going back to sleep” Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  16. Guard tanker guy here... fresh out of PIQ. For the longest young guard guys thought the reserves bros had it good with the TDART program. Brings financial stability and continuity in the jet at a time that is critical in a young co’s career. Anyway, before I left for UPT back in 2019, it seem that post MCT the way to get paid or build time was to pretty much whore yourself out to the rainbow deployment lines. Stateside trips and TDYs aren’t that stable. The alert lines might cover some paydays but aren’t stable for just one person to hold for a long time. The rainbow deployments was the way to get paid and build time. Now that the rainbow is gone and everyone is back in the bucket, I’m not sure what the new thing is gona be for young bum copilots to get paid and build time. I also tried calling random units looking for a deployment... but everyone is co heavy... At least in my unit we have way to many pilots, some that got furlough by the airlines. Everyone is looking for hours and trips which only leaves the young bums at the bottom of the food chain. Perhaps if the airlines pick up again and the optstempo picks up as well, things might improve for us young bums. Until then, the struggle is real... 17. Well... this block 45 no autopilot stuff below 10 grand sounds like it’s here to stay??? ... pilot error that started this thing or is the block 45 really just a polished turd??? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  18. Must be for pointy boyzzz cus us ole heavy bastards get 120-180 days (on a good administration). Few years back when they were cutting the fat any and every way possible, bros only got about 30 days. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  19. Things are always changing at NGB. I went thru the process coming from the Army rated side back in 2018-19. I had an FC1 in August of 2018 but not sure if the approved FC1 is what NGB needs of something else from the SG at NGB. We submitted my packet and it was almost 9 months until I was able to get ARB approval. Couple of things that could help you... or hurt you. If you have been gained my your new AF unit, request school dates so that you can put pressure on NGB/A3 to approve the ARB (they will put priority of your paperwork if you have school dates). If you don't have school dates or have been gained by the unit, they will somewhat put you at the bottom of the pile. Lots of bros from USMC / Nav that go direct to PTX have priority over dirty ole army guys that have to attend some kind of UPT / PIQ... not sure what case you are in. My unit didn't want to gain me until I had ARB approval. I know of another guy that was gained prior to ARB approval to a temp non-rated position for the sole purpose of being able to request school dates. I did make some contacts at NGB/A3 but I think those folks have moved on to other jobs. Good Luck. Cheers
  20. Are these so called “terrorist” just a group of humble ole marines, with a couple of battle scars, in search of some VA disability? Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app

  22. Are you a new army pilot fresh out of Rucker with a 10 yr commitment to your name? Did you sign a contract with the state your with? Keep your cards / options to your self. But know that if you were to be picked up my an ANG unit, you would inherit a brand new ten year timer. Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  23. I take pride in my ATIS writing skills as well staying polite with the tower folks by saying “good morning / good afternoon”... unlike those fast moving guys with their “FAF, gear, stop” coms lol Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
  24. Non AF rated guys have to go thru an Aeronautical review board with big blue. There they will determine what training you’ll require to jump ship (upt, ptx, etc) you’ll also get credit for flight pay origination date as well as translate your previous military hours to AF hours, making folks eligible for seniors wings... most army rated helo guys have to attend the full UPT although there’s a T1 only track in the testing phase. Most Navy USMC rated guys go direct to PTX. No idea what the ARB will say if your a helo guy trying to jump to a fast movers without any T38 time or IFF schooling. Can you apply to rated boards.??? YES but mainly only for the heavy route if your a navy/USMC. Fighter rated boards will probably not entertain a rated guy with no T38 time non IFF grad. 25. You know what... I stand corrected. The Italians know how to deploy and dine. Their chow hall had 16 oz mini bottles of wine you could just grab to go along with the Italian pasta dish of the day. It was like living in a dream until the command sgt major found the wine fridge and decided to post and guard it from American troops during chow times everyday. At least we could raid their coffee bar... Sent from my iPhone using Baseops Network mobile app
