Interesting. I was originally a CSO select and got bumped to UPT the next day after our Feb 4 date. I wonder if IPT has opened up some more slots that they need to fill, and grabbing some alternates was the easiest way for AFPC to accomplish that.

It is obvious to me that this is a win win situation for the United States. Trump and Vance's actions will either cause a negotiated peace deal, or it will force the EU to completely handle supporting Ukraine. Either way is a win for us. Ukraine is not a member of NATO, and we have no real obligation to support their defense. Additionally, I think some second order effects of this conflict have been ignored. For example, Russia has gotten to experience and adapt to three years of war against western weapon systems. This experience/data will no doubt be used against us in a future conflict against them or China, god forbid it ever comes to that.

What is an assignment limitation, and where do you see what it is?

Initial Pilot Training and Future Pilot Training
coppy replied to LookieRookie's topic in General Discussion
It definitely seems like MX has a large piece to play in the Columbus issues, at least according to what I've been hearing. The only thing I may disagree with is you saying the IPT thing won't produce more pilots. If IPT really does reduce T-6 hours from 90ish to 50-60 per student, that will certainly allow more T-6's to get back on the flightline due to the reduction of hours. However, that assumes that manpower is the bottleneck and not parts, which I don't know since I am not there. Also, I am pretty sure that T-6 MX is contracted, so if parts is not the issue, some serious research should be put into whether or not that contract is sufficient. BLOB: the trainer fleet has been abused and not enough has been done to remedy it. -
I asked the board awhile back about IPT. It is a PCS and then you go TDY.
-
Gotcha, only reason I asked is because my buddy at Vance didn't act like they were switching anytime soon, but he could definitely be wrong, he's about to head to FTU.
-
Where did you find IPT locations? I only found the TX and AZ spots. Also, where did you hear we would all be IPT?
-
Pretty sure IPT replaces IFT in all cases, since you get several ratings from it including a PPL.

I saw on some other forum that a fella declined because he was offered a guard/reserve UPT job. I’d say it was either that or family related concerns.
-
Whelp, UCT spot got moved to UPT slot! Now I’m just anxiously awaiting training dates like the rest of you!
-
I bet they will start populating over the next few weeks since we hadn’t “officially” accepted training until yesterday COB.

UCT select: 98 PCSM, 89 Pilot, 60 hrs., no PPL. 1/1 at the Wing, 1st time applicant. Not the results I was hoping for, but glad I have the opportunity to go to UCT. Currently on the fence about what I am going to do. Any insight on how long it takes until UCT begins once selected?

Having back to back snow days has not been conducive for mental health. Hopefully public release is tomorrow.

Congrats!

In the Air Force portal comments. It was posted like January 19 of last year in response to someone asking about the release date.
-
I did the math and based on how many duty days it took for them to start coordinating the release last year, that should have started today. The amount of duty days between coordination and CC notification would put this year at Monday, January 27. Public release 30 Jan. Granted, this is assuming it is exactly the same as last year. I'm not going to start holding my breath until Thursday of next week.
-
I emailed them a week ago, no updates besides end of Jan and commander notification 3 days prior. However, a lot can change in a week.

I just went through my package again and found a noticeable typo in my Letter of Rec. Hopefully that is not the determining factor in my case. LOL I wonder if AFPC deviates from the board ranking, and for what reasons they might do that? I wonder if they take into consideration career field health if they veer away from the board.
-
I guess the piece of information we would need is what the composition of the non-selects are.
-
Is the general consensus that it is easier to get picked up from non-rated career fields?
-
I emailed the board awhile back requesting data on scoring and they said "PCSM is only part of the aptitude score component which is 30% of the total score. Leadership is 40% and Adaptability/Potential is the other 30%. This leaves a lot of ground to cover. Definitely seems like an uphill battle for 2d Lt. Just trying to stay positive! I hope you had a great holiday season!

Boy oh boy this waiting game is grueling. Thanks for putting this page together, as I need a new outlet to talk to about this crossflow process as my wife is probably ready to go visit some family. LOL. I volunteered for ENJJPT, but I did not rank it as I would prefer going to the traditional UPT bases. I guess we'll see if they want me to go that route, but I doubt it with no PPL. I assume that is a factor for ENJJPT? Anyone's guess I'm sure. I went Vance, Laughlin, Columbus. Vance because that is where I was originally supposed to go to UPT before I got a surprise medical DQ a month before commissioning, and it is close to my wife's family. I went Columbus last because I am currently stationed in the deep south and wouldn't mind going somewhere new. This is my first time applying as I had to wait a year before I could apply for a waiver following my eye surgery. Hopefully I can make it all the way, but I am not holding my breath. My OPB and letters should be good, and somehow I was the only one in my Wing applying for the board. Supporting that is my 98 PCSM and 89 Pilot. I am a bit worried the pilot score will be a detriment, but I know where I can boost it as my quantitative score was pretty low. There is always next year! Good luck to everyone out there!
