Got to love a ride or die major. I love FGOs who will take on the SNCOs. SNCOs: We can't have alcohol at this venue. Me sitting in for CC: We are having alcohol. CC later: Yes, there will be alcohol.

Commanders are dropping like flies this year
HarleyQuinn replied to MDDieselPilot's topic in General Discussion
An old timer posted this in the comment section for that article. "It is a sad state of affairs in the Air Force when our leaders are relieved of duty. Obviously the leadership who is selecting the new leaders are making bad decisions. When I was in the Air Force 1971-1997 I really can't think of any commander that was relieved of duty. Now it seems it happening almost every month." Is it just me or does the AF feel like it is turning into the Cleveland Browns... -

I remember someone mentioning this program a few months ago. Where enlisted and officers go through a screening program. Are we screening for an Enders Game scenario already where we need the brightest mind to control all of our Space Force attack drones? https://www.military.com/daily-news/2018/08/04/student-pilots-given-unlimited-simulator-time-new-air-force-experiment.html BREAK BREAK What thread does this belong in? I think I have seen it all in the AF now. "Senior Airman claims Air Force discharged him after sexual orientation and HIV status revealed" https://www.koaa.com/story/38807303/seniorairman-claims-air-force-discharged-him-after-sexual-orientation-and-hiv-status-revealed

I think back to my test. If my disc had shifted just a bit more doing my sit ups only to pinch my leg nerve even further, I probably wouldn't have any feeling in my leg right now. Could have really messed me up.

I remember you saying that you passed your fitness test after having hip surgery. And you still beat airmen around the track I maxed out my fitness test with a herniated disc pressing against a leg nerve. I only had to do the push ups and sit ups. Then I limped my butt out of the gym after maxing those components at 38 years of age. The doctors later figured out what was wrong months later. Point is that I still maxed everything with an injury that required surgery. When a person fails, I have no sympathy for them.

Plot twist, but Bendy isn't normally drunk. That's just his diva side coming out of the shadows.

Testing once a year for everyone in the AF was tossed around a few months back I believe per my CC. So has retiring as a SSgt after 20 years of service: https://www.military.com/daily-news/2018/07/31/air-force-may-let-staff-sergeants-serve-20-years-top-enlisted-says.html

I thought you guys had read a similar article already. Sorry for not posting it earlier.

So CC's will be allowed to perform in house physical fitness testing again. This was removed from the squadron level because people were hooking each other up and we needed to kick more people out. Oh, and the old requirement forces you to purchase a PT uniform so you have to wear it once a year for your annual test. I'm tired of this back and forth buffoonery. PT uniforms serve no purpose. Give the contract to Nike or Under Armour so the uniforms make you want to use them when not working out at the base. Kind of like college football teams and their wide array of player uniform options to help recruit. Then I might actually buy the gear. Otherwise, I will stick to my Nike dri fit gear. The AF doesn't give a damn about physical fitness. Stop pretending. In 2013/2014, they were going to start enforcing the reg on shoe colors. I called out our shirt. I'm like you don't know shit about fitness. I used to run at night and early in the morning and you always want running shoes that are highly reflective. I'm not talking clown colored shoes either (millennials style). The AF thought we should all run in certain colored shoes. Meaning, I should train everyday in my normal running shoes that are meant for my flat feet. Then I would have to swap out my running shoes for my annual fitness test for a pair of shoes within reg just to meet the AF color requirements. Every runner knows that's just asinine and could cause an injury. Companies make certain types of running shoes for the way your feet are shaped and how you run. They are limited in color options. Nike and Brooks don't give one shit about AF shoe color requirements. Lets pander to the AF because they matter to our billion dollar industry nobody has ever said.

Air Force, AMC pursue initiatives to better retain pilots https://www.airforcetimes.com/opinion/commentary/2018/07/29/air-force-amc-pursue-initiatives-to-better-retain-pilots/ Most people could probably telework from the states and still get the AFCENT queep accomplished.

So PRFs or no PRFs for the P0418D line of the AF majors board? On a side note, my CC was like I'm not congratulating these dudes from the last board. They didn't earn their rank. I busted out in laughter and I've grown to accept we are changing as a force. Let me know how it shakes out after I retire in 2 years. #NotMyProblem

I had to tell a flight doctor look. You can't tell me to take narcotics as needed and driving on the flight line is remotely okay. If you had told a Lt this and they run into something, all hell would break loose. You have no place being on a flight line if you are taking prescribed narcotics.

Pharmacy/Referral management - Both are understaffed. They are the bread and butter of the medical clinic. I was told, "Sir, I'm sorry your referral took so long, but we are understaffed." At that point, I could totally understand. Most career fields are having staffing problems. Most men/women between the ages of 17-24 are ineligible to join the military. We are screwed. Earlier in a post I mentioned a pharmacist walking off the job on base, which wreaked havoc on the pharmacy. How can I be upset? Pilots are essentially doing the same thing. Nobody is going to put up with piss poor leadership and a deteriorating quality of life. Civilians don't have to accept it either. Let's not talk about on base PT vs off base. Like night and day. I was in shock when my therapist off base had a machine to measure my lower back strength. I attended on base PT post surgery for 5 months. Started going off base and the exercises I was given were completely different and helped tremendously. Didn't mean to throw so many knives at our healthcare.

I'm glad some bases have it good. My biggest complaint would be when medical information or referrals need to be faxed. "We faxed it sir, guess they never received it." How hard is it to fax, then call to ensure the paperwork was received? I don't understand why this is so hard. Don't even get me started on the doc who thought a cyst was a pimple and tried to pop it. Thus causing an infection and a ton of pain. My dermatologist just shook his head. He used to be a flight doc back in the day. Returned from a TDY with a knot on my arm. Called flight medicine. Can't see you for a week. Went to see my dermatologist and he was like WTF? This could have been an infection and killed you. Look at the size of the knot. I just shrugged my shoulders... flight medicine said...

Basically, I've seen specialists off base who disagree with our flight doctors. I've seen this happen 3 times now and I have lost a little faith in flight medicine. I have seen doctors and specialists off base completely disagree with flight doctors. Pretty sure I'm not the only one here. I had surgery a few years ago. My surgeon called flight medicine to ensure the pharmacy would have my post op meds. Immediately after my surgery, I had my girlfriend drive me to the base in order to pickup my paperwork for quarters. I waited 2 hours and still didn't receive my meds. I told the airman at the pharmacy counter twice I was post op and the gauze was pretty easily to see on my neck. I fell asleep and still didn't have my meds so I went off base and had the prescription filled in 15 minutes. I was totally embarrassed in front of my girlfriend because she receives the best care through her company's insurance plan. Also, I was told someone at the pharmacy walked off the job that week creating total chaos. A CC I spoke with said this is becoming standard and I'm not the first so I just accepted it. PCS to a new base. Had an issue that was misdiagnosed at the previous base. I was in pain on a scale of 10/10 at this point and on narcotics. The flight doctor sent me in for an MRI via referral management. After my open MRI, I felt dirty because the lady gave me a Panera Bread gift card. I told referral management not to use that place again! Luckily, my surgeon didn't accept the MRI images or results. He said I needed to have them done at a certain hospital because the place where I went MRI images would be too blurry and he hadn't even seen them. The report from the MRI said everything was negative. After having a closed MRI, my issue was pretty obvious to my surgeon when the images came back. I was battling the issue for years and flight medicine did not properly diagnose me. The flight doctor I helped is the one who got me to the right specialist. I had surgery a few weeks later and my problem is gone! Took 4 years bro! When your quality of life and health care starts to suck. It's time to go. Med Groups are starting to mimic the VA model. Do you guys feel as though our on base care is diminishing or is in decline?

Airmen and pilots operating downrange wear the Army Aircrew Combat Uniform, known as the A2CU, which has OCP-patterned fabric and the same fire-retardant properties as a flight suit. https://www.military.com/daily-news/2018/05/14/its-official-air-force-switching-armys-ocp-uniform.html

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.express.co.uk/news/world/990914/world-war-3-warning-donald-trump-news-nato-montenegro/amp Couldn't the same thing be said about Taiwan? Granted they never poke the Chinese and there is no NATO umbrella or an Article 5. Taiwan is equipped to fight alone according to one of their officers who spoke to us back in the AFROTC days. It was a female officer who gave us the go at it alone speech.

Medical Hobby Shop..I am dead! You are right Champ. However, I don't know which doctors to recommend off base. I didn't want to make my post too long by including this information either.
