I'd love to see Perez/Hulk over at Haas. Or see if Rossi would come over from Indycar (I doubt he would), but Haas would definitely benefit from being a North American team with a Mexican and American driver. Sent from my SM-N975U using Baseops Network mobile app
  2. Yes, but everyone knew what was meant. Being pedantic doesn't help or add to the conversation. And FYI, you are DEFINITELY being "that guy". Sent from my SM-N975U using Baseops Network mobile app
  3. Sadly, this is another "it depends" answer. In my squadron alone, it will be 11 months between OTS and UPT, for me it was 4 months, for another guy it will be 3. The guy before all of us only waited 2 months. This all just came from what was available in the FY by the time packages were approved by NGB. There's not really a "standard" wait. I'd say plan on 18 months from hire to UPT at a minimum. If it's faster, awesome. Reserves seems to move a good bit faster once the board has met. I know a few guys that were in training 6-9 months after being hired. And if I remember correctly, they won't send you to OTS until you can follow on almost directly to your UPT base. He's incredible. I think it also puts Bottas and Rosberg into perspective too. Bottas is reliable, but that's about it. And seeing stuff like this really makes me appreciate the fight Rosberg was able to give Hamilton. Sent from my SM-N975U using Baseops Network mobile app

  6. That's on the entire party. They bitched for YEARS about how screwed up Obamacare was, claiming they could do better. Then they had the chance and had literally nothing prepared. They never even brought the outline of a plan. Over and over we heard repeal and replace, but they put no effort into a replacement. They showed all their outrage was just a big talking point and that they didn't really give a shit about the ACA. Just wanted to use it for politics. Blame McCain for his vote, but don't blame him for the entire party wasting years into chasing the car and no thought into what they'd do when they caught it. 7. No, units aren't that short sighted. There's normally a lull towards the end of the calendar year. It's possible some units have said it's not worth the trouble to hire during COVID, but I'd be surprised if that was the case. Most units have 1, maybe 2 guys a year coming back to the unit from the training pipeline. When someone is hired, the guy won't be flying in the unit for what is almost always a minimum of 3 years. Meanwhile, guys past their 10 year mark can call it quits with a MUCH shorter lead time. So do you really think they'd stop hiring people that they won't see for 3+ years because some guys are getting furloughed now? And don't quote me on this, but I think the seasoning time comes out of a separate pot of money. I'm pretty sure guys on their seasoning orders aren't taking up AGR spots that could be going to more senior guys. Sent from my SM-N975U using Baseops Network mobile app

This is not the same kind of dominance that Ferrari or Red Bull had. Mercedes has won something like 80% of races and 90% of poles in their run. Red Bull was won just over 50% of races and had less than 70% of poles. In 2012, 7 different drivers across 5 different teams won the first 7 races. Ferrari and Red Bull were superior. Mercedes is dominant. Shit, Mercedes has more front row lockouts in 10 years than Ferrari does over 70. Yes, boring races and the occasional boring season are normal, but this has been an extreme. 9. If they say don't come, you can't come. Some units don't allow rushing any year, so what I did when I came across one of those was think of what questions I had and I asked if any of the pilots would mind taking a phone call. One of the guys was more than happy and he gave me a call. I had about a 20-30 minutes conversation with one of the guys while he was commuting to drill. I don't know if that's what made the difference and got me the interview, but it didn't hurt. Sent from my SM-N975U using Baseops Network mobile app
  10. If either of them shy away from a debate, they'll end up the loser. However, one upside to COVID would be if we finally got rid of audiences at debates. Without an audience reaction, the power of one liners and insults go away and the candidates might actually have to have some substance. Sent from my SM-N975U using Baseops Network mobile app
  11. The degree may have been an issue. They can't submit your appointment package without the degree, so maybe some units weren't wanting to wait. As for enlisting, with your background, I wouldn't do it. Enlisting in a unit is not going to be a secure job, and it'd take a while to get a paycheck. Even if you enlisted, you'd sign up, go to meps, wait up to a year to go to BMT, then possibly wait again for tech school. And then it's far from guaranteed you'd have a full time spot. So you could possibly be pushing yourself back 3-4 years. Then you'd be 27 and be one of the older applicants. Keep pushing, some people get hired in 6 months, so take a few years. Keep pushing and make sure to ask why you didn't get the interviews. Some will respond, some won't, but you definitely need to try to get feedback where you can. 12. Some units compare packets based on the 201+ score. Most consider the 201+ so they can get an idea of potential. Definitely finish your PPL. Also, definitely retake the TBAS. Comparing your PCSM to your AFOQT scores, it looks like you didn't do great on the TBAS. Also, rush units. Even before you retake the TBAS or finish your PPL. That'll be a huge difference when applying for units. Sent from my SM-N975U using Baseops Network mobile app
  13. I'm sure there are some exceptions, but multiple units and people I spoke with before getting hired said that they wanted to hear that you were applying other places to show that you really wanted it. If you're only applying to one unit they may be flattered, but there may also be people that think "if this guy really wanted to be a pilot he'd be applying everywhere". 16. Can tell you I know of multiple that are in the current OTS class and went to MEPS the right before class started. So it can't be completely closed. Maybe only closed to new applicants? Sent from my SM-N975U using Baseops Network mobile app
  17. The Navy cancelled months is basic training classes due to sequestration and the manning still hasn't completely recovered. It's all risk vs reward. Yes, having classes probably will add to the spread. But if precautions are taken to contain the virus within the training classes where it pops up, they probably see that as a worthwhile risk to take. AETC guidance didn't come out particularly quickly, so I'm willing to bet someone ran the numbers to figure out the downstream effects of cancelling training courses and that led to the decision to move forward. If there's an outbreak at this next OTS class or make issues at BMT, the results of that analysis might change, but as of now, I guess they think it's worth the risk. Haas would almost definitely be gone. They've suggested that their continued participation will be determined by their performance this hear. And who knows about Racing Point and Alpha Romeo too. If they cancel, they'll have to do something financially to help the teams. Sent from my SM-N975U using Baseops Network mobile app

Vietnam and Bahrain are postponed too. If the season gets cancelled, I bet we have 2-3 less teams next year Sent from my SM-N975U using Baseops Network mobile app
  22. They did the same for OTS too. Today they said the people won't be allowed to attend the awards ceremony or graduation parade. But family that have already travelled to Montgomery can attend the individual commissioning ceremonies. Sent from my SM-N975U using Baseops Network mobile app

  24. Not positive if this is what they're looking for, but the AFSC for a student pilot is 92T0 Sent from my SM-N975U using Baseops Network mobile app
  25. I'll argue the age part. It's not ideal and will turn off SOME guard units, but it's in no way a no go. I was 27, applying fighters only. I got interviews at 2 of my first 3 applications before getting picked up. The place that didn't interview me was my first application. They said my cover letter was my main issue and gave me great feedback that helped me on the next apps. I'm not saying age is no factor at all, it could have become a bigger factor in the past 18months as the numbers of applications have increased, but I would say it is not a MAJOR factor. It just has to be something you're ready to address if it's brought up. Sent from my SM-N975U using Baseops Network mobile app
