Thinking about transitioning to the Reserves as an IP for the T6. In the application it states that if selected, instead of the traditional “1 weekend a month/ 2 weeks a year” as an AETC IP I would be required to work 6 days a month. Anyone currently an IP at a UPT base got any info on this? Also trying to work as an airline pilot as my full time but worried about the commute. For those of you in the airline industry how do you manage the commute? Thanks!

Good morning all, First off I apologize if this isn't the right forum for this but I need some advice on how to proceed with my situation. I am currently an AD O-3 with approximately 3 years of flying experience (late-to-rate), and have already been passed over for Major on the initial attempt. To make things more complicated, I am currently at PIT with my graduation date not slated till about Jan-Mar, which will have been passed the board convene date for my second look. If passed over again I will TRY and find a flying job in the civilian sector, but due to my current hours it is making it difficult for me to find a job (TBNT from United through their UMPP). I have about 1000 hours with maybe another 200-300 hours before I separate. My current plan is to find a T-6 reserve unit and hope they hire me on AGR orders for a year or so to build hours, or maybe go to a Guard or Reserve unit where my old MWS. How should I go about contacting the potential guard/reserve units? What advice, if any, do you have for someone in my situation?

You are correct in that the only way they can keep you is by promoting you. Via congress if passed over twice you are allowed to “punch-out” regardless of ADSC, whether you are offered continuance or not depends. The only kicker with continuance is whether the severance package is offered to you or not upon departing the Military. To be honest I feel like I have more control in my situation than I have ever had before. The “worst” that could happen is getting promoted and having stability at a job for another 6 years or so. And the best is getting out before my ADSC is up (2031)… -

Has anyone ever heard of an instance where an officer writes a letter to the board to be non-selected for promotion, and still gets promoted? -

Did you get to choose that 1 month after results came out. Or did AFPC give you a date? -

Not sure if anyone is still looking at this thread but the same exact thing just happened to me. Using this previous post I was able to get a lot of really awesome information. My plan is to send a letter to the board asking to “not-promote” then leave the military. A question for all you who have done it: Does the member get to decide how much of those 6 months before separation you get to have? Or does MPF give you a DOS within 6 months? Is Palace front a viable option as you are given a DOS? *Disclaimer I’m a late-2-rate pilot that got passed over for major the first board and still has 7 years on my ADSC. -
Good morning all, Board results were just announced and I was one of the unfortunate ones that didn’t make it. Had about 24hrs to soak up this information and I think it’s time for me to start thinking about what’s going to happen next in my life. Here’s some info about my career so far. Commissioned 2015 and went to a non-rated career field. In 2019 I decided to apply for the Late-to-rate boards and got picked up as an early Captain. Currently in a flying unit flying the best MAF aircraft out there (IYKYK). A basic AC with about 1000 total time (UPT/Current MWS). I had an assignment to be an instructor for UPT leaving for PIT in a couple of months, but then I got the news. Ive already been asking around on how to navigate through this, but being this is a pilot forum I’m thinking of taking my talents to the civilian sector. I heard that if I don’t promote next time around (or decline promotion) I can get out without finishing the rest of my ADSC (2031), is that true? Also do yall believe I will still be sent to PIT knowing that my “next look PRF” will be comprised mainly of PIT? I know I will have to talk with my CoC and probably legal for definite but I wanted to get y’all’s insight. Finally, can I still get hired by a Guard or Reserve unit and not have to finish my ADSC if I turn down promotion? Thanks yall -Rick

Heading to XL in June, married but SO won't be accompanying me. What is the best way to live on base and collect some BAH that is legal? I've heard you could get a few roommates and get a place on base housing splitting the costs. Thanks in advance.

Still nothing on my end as well. My PDD is coming up in March. I talked with my functional and they said it new orders should generate and replace your old ones. Talked with AFPC and they are still matching and generating RIPs on their end. They also said if you dont receive something in the next week or two give them a call.- 863 replies

Anyone not received a RIP yet? Or notification of their base or RNLT dates? Still waiting on mine, but I did have orders previously generated from my current AFSC.- 863 replies
