  1. Kind of related look at the USMC high turnover personnel strategy in their enlisted ranks. https://www.brookings.edu/research/the-courage-to-change-modernizing-u-s-marine-corps-human-capital-investment-and-retention/
  2. That difficulty is a good case for just be totally gone.
  3. Multiplying by Zero was published in 2011, and it’s still the best summary of the futility of AFG ops. https:// https://www.armyupress.army.mil/Portals/7/military-review/Archives/English/MilitaryReview_20110228_art014.pdf
  4. I’d argue it’s both AF leadership and Congress. Which AF leader has taken the business case to Congress and actually said, “we have a problem”?
  5. That Senator did some great things, but he thought that the compensation he had in the 70s was sufficient and blocked a lot of progress on that front.
  6. If your ADSC is up, unless there is an official stop-loss, they really can’t say no.
  7. Have you tried calling the Total Force Service Center desk? They have actually been pretty helpful on hang ups. https://www.afpc.af.mil/Support/
  8. For ADSC expired and applying for a DOS less than 6 months, the waiver is inherent to the separation application process (no explicit waiver), and expect it to take about 6 weeks from pressing submit to approved. Ops tested, but MilPDS is slower to update after the CMS case from the separation application approval closes out.
  9. Quoted for truth, one of the best summaries out there.
  10. U.S. is assessing whether Taliban is serious about peace - Blinken https:// https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/talibans-actions-inconsistent-with-pursuit-peace-afghanistan-says-blinken-2021-06-25/ Spoiler alert there buddy: they’re not
  11. The UK and Russia as Aggressor and Defender: Two Narratives, Similar Obligations https://rusi.org/explore-our-research/publications/commentary/uk-and-russia-aggressor-and-defender-two-narratives-similar-obligations Pretty decent analysis.
  12. Equity: all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.
  13. The Russians always say they “warned coalition aircraft, and subsequently they left” even if the flight path was a straight line. Sounds like pretty normal trumped up language.
  14. It’s easy, you just decrease the crew ratio until it equals the pilots you have.
  15. That’s about as in sync with reality as I expect the AF to be.
  16. Are we sure that was indeed the French GP? I remember it being a dull affair year after year.
  17. It’s the true Army arms use hierarchy: missiles and bombs from CAS assets first, army helos second, himars, 155, mortars, and rifles last. It’s how you ensure the most aid money gets to [insert SWA country here]
  18. JASSM is already the weapon of the last war because of how long the TOF is versus how quickly threats move…on a warm launched platform that can retarget in flight. Cold launched from a cargo a/c? Might as well throw $100M on a burn pit fire.
  19. True for the Relative (to not getting a vaccine) Risk Reduction, but looking at Absolute Risk Reduction, they’re all about the same. Not taking into account the things mentioned previously that all of them are really effective at preventing a serious infection. First heard these stats on a podcast between doctors: From a https:// https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanmic/article/PIIS2666-5247(21)00069-0/fulltext
  20. I think both the AF and FAA like to talk a good game about access to mental health for pilots, but I don’t trust them to not take flying status away.
  21. “You expire in four months, you’re not green enough.”
  22. Isolating all other factors, if the goal is to be available to a major as soon as possible, then a two year ADSC for PCS to UPT isn’t the way to go. At a regional you can give two weeks notice.
  23. Sounds like you’re still in an AD Bone squadron.
  24. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_media Social media is a broad term that by this Wikipedia definition, does encompass baseops. Interactive? Check. User generated content? Check. Profile? Check. Connecting one user’s profile to other users? Check. It doesn’t have to be a viral app of teens posting selfies to be social media…your early days of posting on studentpilot were social media before the term was coined.
  25. Senior AF leaders imagining a “modern” cockpit Every GA plane owner with $3k to burn
