Saw an Eglin test of the Apache with a Spike recently. 20 mile range is interesting. Hypersonics from the Air Force perspective seem to be the way to go to cover the tryanny of distance being pushed by A2AD and mobile threats.

I think that’s part of what all the platform discussions miss: the weaponry. AMRAAM, JDAM , and JASSM aren’t going to cut it in the very near future.

I feel like the hypersonics push has been a small realization of the needed paradigm change, but it’s not the force-wide scale to be meaningful.

Sometimes the AF pulls this off right in the AOC, but almost exclusively during contingency ops.

Another is doing your DTS voucher instead of being able to have the squadron CSS just handle it, because we’ve got this great new system that “simplified” and made a task “more efficient “ so that we could get rid of the CSS, thereby taking more time away from you the actual producer of things in the Air Force. That’s his main argument: You’re now finance and IT and every other support agency as we have complained about ad nauseam on the forum.

Sounds familiar: Computers/Email decrease productivity when you account for getting rid of the staff that used to perform those tasks, thereby putting that work on the formerly supported members

Wait, the T-6 isn’t RNAV certified anymore? Didn’t it used to be? T-38 is on hold for the foreseeable future. Are the AMC arms of the AF RNAV literate? It seems like the AF at-large is not, and I know why the CAF doesn’t care so much but for training purposes ground-based approaches are dwindling at a lot of the places the AF used to rely on.
