  6. It’s far too logical a low-cost COTS solution for that. It’s the perfect paradoxical opposition, really. It performs so seemlessly and economically that GSC is trying to kill it for savings. Over what amounts to a rounding error in their budget.
  7. I thought the sentiment was it’s probably not a good thing for the overall airmanship, proficiency, and lethality of our force that we’re down to such low flying hours. Did no one else a while back sit there thinking, “wow, they must be really bad,” when we used to read about how other countries were flying the similar amount of hours to what was mentioned? If your airframe has viable sims for training, I’ll buy some trade off there; I would also venture to say that the reality is just reduced flying related activity, though.

  10. That sounds poorly handled compared to our wing. The only thing we had to wait on was the JPAS EAL for vault access. Everything else was good, and they were ready to work day 1. In fact, in one day my contractor learned what our LT struggled 6 months with. We have two scheduling, one training, and one stan/eval for the squadron through a different company, and they’re all outperforming expectations. I’m not the POC who has answers, but providing a data point that it can work with less hassle. I can figure out who our point man was, if needed.

  19. Bingo. You want some things to be tacticle and always available at a moments notice, not buried in a screen. Reference professional SLR cameras. Still have a bunch of buttons because it’s good human factors.
  20. Essentially you’re required to be in the flight room studying from show time until dismissal at the end of the day.
  21. In the AF, you have a little of column A and a little of column B. In accounting, you only have one.
