  8. Dude, they will not spend the money. HAF’s priority is with other expenditures. They want the cheapest acceptable option for pilot training. It’s going to take dead bodies for them to reverse course. T-54 could be a viable option at END or CBM, but not DLF. The transition bases are just too far away for a plane with that cruise speed.   11. Well, they should have re-engined or replaced the T-1 with a comparable aircraft. They should have budgeted to buy T-6Cs, or a Tucano if they are unable to sustain the current T-6A fleet. They should have ordered T-50s instead of the dumpster fire that is the T-7. None of this would have been cost prohibitive, but it would have meant asking for more money or cutting other programs, which big blue is incapable of doing. The Air Force could make a course correction, but I don’t see that happening until they’ve suffered multiple class As that are attributed to the pathetic training that was the result of AMF-S, direct FTU, and now IPT.   14. As of now, and they’ve started it at CBM, you do IPT, an abbreviated T-6 syllabus, then track heavies or go 38s. I expect that eventually the T-6 for heavy drivers will go away. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Not terrible ideas, but 5-10 years too late. The T-6 is next on the chopping block. Once IPT gets going, there won’t be a reason to repair/replace the T-6. They’ll just let it die and send IPT grads straight to the T-7 if going fighters, or the FTUs for heavy aircraft. Reservist manning won’t matter nearly as much at that point. Maybe Congress steps in, because the Reps/Senators for Enid and Columbus probably don’t want to see the loss of jobs/govt spending in their districts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  22. Lame. They must be very desperate to keep people in. I hope anyone passed over once before this came into effect is grandfathered into the old rules. In the end, the pay difference between Captain and Major is insignificant and no one in the airlines will give a crap. The military is just getting their full chunk of flesh now. TLDR (the bill, not your post). Is this going to affect continuation?
