  1. Can’t speak for every airframe, but in AMC WOs seem to initially spend a lot of time working in tactics and doing exercise planning, followed by a seemingly obligatory stint as Wing exec to “groom” them for command. Contrast that with an FTU or UPT IP, who’s going to do a lot of flying, with virtually all of it being IP time. From an hours perspective I know who wins out 6.9 times out of 7. 2. In that case, no. Regional pay wouldn’t be bad if you’re also getting retirement, but if you’re separating, I can understand not wanting the drastic pay cut. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Go to a regional for 2-3 years and PIC time shouldn’t be an issue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Single engine though and I would say that doing one engine out training prior to FTU might have some benefit. The Mustang was also around $2M. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. And as long as Tom Cotton is on the SASC, I wouldn’t expect a increase either. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. 48k approved by the House. Senate only approved 35k. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I’m just waiting for the UPT ADSC to be increased Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I’m just waiting for the UPT ADSC to be increased Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Signed it after working my next assignment. I also didn’t have the hours at the time to be competitive for anything other than a regional, and I couldn’t stomach that pay cut. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Waiting a year may help, or it may not. In my case, I was offered 30k a year (took 8 years, taking me to 20). Had I waited a year, I could have signed for 7 years at 35k, netting a total of 245K instead of 240, but with no lump sum payment option. I’ve easily made up that 5k difference with the interest earned on the lump. As they’re currently offering the max (35k) for most career fields and airframes and there’s no talk of increasing the bonus in Congress, waiting now is probably not going to be financially beneficial. That said, you can’t put a price on free agency (oh wait, didn’t that 2-star say there are no free agents?). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I think the Citation Mustang or one of the other VLJs would have been a good option with an upgraded gear. Cheap to acquire (until AF acquisition manages to up), cheap to operate, and the only setback might be a height limitation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Not entirely accurate, the current language requires the service to make a business case analysis when authorizing the bonus levels. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Does anyone have any new info on when they expect to retire the T-1? Most recent article I found said 2023-2025, but I’m wondering if anyone in AETC land has better gouge. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Also, depending on when they roll out the new promotion system, you might be IPZ for four more looks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Any specifics on why he was fired? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Why? Are you planning on putting rank on your OEF/OIF veteran hat? Silver Oak Leaf in your front license plate holder? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. IIRC, the “renegotiations” I was offered the last two years required a 3 year minimum extension (I already took it to 20), and only affected the $ amount for the tacked on years. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Declining continuation also results in no involuntary sep pay, because it’s a voluntary separation. You only get isp if you’re not offered continuation, if your RIFed, or half ISP for a fitness discharge (there might be other conditions as well).
  19. I think he means they’ll 7 day opt... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. They don’t have to let them x train to send them to UPT, which is still undermanned. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I doubt there will be a VSP for pilots. Maybe other career fields, but the bonus take rate has been consistently lower than their stated goal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. I wonder if promotion boards will be instructed to disregard strats under the old system. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Different bonus program for ANG than posted above Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Gotta love that the guys that have the shortest commitment after winging and are the easiest/cheapest to replace end up with the best bonus option, while the Air Force shits on the RW guys. An 18u looking to retire at 20 can take the 12 year bonus after their six year commitment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. That’s missing tiers 1-3, which should include the initial eligibles. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
