  1. Thread Revival: I’m trying to get into contact with anyone at the 305th. They have a board opening in March. I was in contact with a couple dudes at the unit back in 2021 but it looks like they went inactive. Including our friendly neighborhood @shadow_pilot Any insight would be greatly appreciated, I sent a few emails as well but haven’t heard back, they may be out the door at the moment. Thanks!
  2. Same thing in Boise, they didn’t pass the environmental impact study for the F-35, and then was offered F-16s. Hopefully it works out for them, but nobody knows. I think they have their study next year. I saw what you posted, with every congressman from a fighter state signing stuff to keep their fighters, idk how that works but if they propose a bill and it doesn’t go anywhere it’s just political posturing and talking points. I don’t even think it comes down to noise abatement issues. Like the others have said, it comes down to the congressman’s pull and what the Air Force decides they want to do today.
  3. Are you in the guard?
  4. Lol. Comon’ tell me! I’ll tell you my secrets. OP, you’re going to do great stuff man. I assume you’re guard/AFRC, take a breath and find a gig somewhere in the country you and your wife (husband whatever) want to live. It’s a good way to generate some excitement about your next career move. My aircraft has CSOs on it, they do great work and have a good time. If ops pacing isn’t your strong suit go try Cyber and live somewhere dope, whatever that location means to you.
  5. How so? Genuinely curious. I see a lot of guard units have Cyber Operation squadrons but I have absolutely no clue what they do.
  6. I don’t really understand your question of the unit keeping you on TR status while you’re “looking” for a new unit? just go look for a new unit, when you find one that wants to hire you you’ll sign a form called a 1288 (I think that’s the form) and that’s a conditional release. Basically it says you’re leaving one unit for another you’re not leaving the service. I don’t know how the reserves do things, I’ve heard AFRC bros say everything from “it’s a better deal then the guard” all the way to people saying weird things like they’re not allowed to live outside of a certain radius of there reserve squadron, so naturally, YMMV.
  7. I believe this is just for the IFT-R program. So like how peeps used to go to IFS (turned IFT) before UPT to fly the DA-20. This contract is for a helicopter IFT that uses bell 505s. the last I saw about this small companies had the contract and had their first IFT grads last year. The company I saw was called Brenner aviation down in Texas. it’s my understanding that the UPT next for helicopters only is currently running, but they still use the Huey and it’s still at Rucker
  8. Interesting, I didn’t know it worked like that. Thanks for the info man
  9. @brabus I assume you’re in a ANG fighter SQ? How would that IP assignment work for you guys? I’m a MAF guy, have been looking at flying the T6 to compliment my airline gig but I assumed it required a transfer to the reserves.
  10. I saw they had just pushed out a direct hiring authority to certain locations I wanted to know more about how that worked. I also wanted to know what locations had what aircraft, there’s nothing useful I’ve found online. I’m a dual rated guy looking to build turbine helicopter time. I’ll do my time at AMO to get it.
  11. Thread revival. Are there any AIAs in the house I can DM? Getting up to date information on the program has been challenging. Thanks
  12. Just focus on flying, you’ll get to where you want to go. Whether it’s making big money flying contract in BFE, or huge money on an airbus for the airlines. It’s a great time to be a pilot.
  13. So do you see this program turning out like the AF light attack program? It seems like it’s tentatively funded, at least that’s what the internet told me and that’s never wrong.
  14. That would be cool, I also read “the Oklahoma Air Guard would receive some of the planes too” I’d bet they’re talking about the MC12 unit down in OKC.
