BeerForMyHorses replied to Jam's topic in Pilot Selection Process
Someone previously mentioned alternates will know by the end of February one way or the other. Idk how they get notified though -

That's really helpful for expectation management! I feel like someone declining their pilot slot would be rare though. I assumed the alternates would be more for those who medically DQ. But they won't know who failed MFS until after February I would imagine. -

Thanks, but I found out I got alternate. Still confused why I wasn't selected but I'll just reapply next year. Congrats on getting selected! Follow up question for the group: anybody have any data on alternate selections? Like how many traditionally get picked up ultimately? -

Woof. If I didn't get alternate that's even more depressing because I've got a 99 pilot, 87 PCSM, and 25 civilian hours. -

What were your stats? My sq/cc didn't see the alternate list so idk if I made that -

That would make sense except the guy that got selected is also a 12F... -

How do you mean? Like they accidentally released the wrong names or made a mistake? -

Wow that seems like a very competitive package and it's very similar to mine and I didn't get picked up for pilot. I only put pilot though because I'm already an F-15E WSO. Have fun at Pensacola and if you have questions about that pipeline or the strike eagle feel free to shoot me a DM -

I guess I'm genuinely more confused now because they selected a guy from my base with an all-around worse package than mine I was stratted above him Neither of us have a PPL but I have more civilian hours (25 vs 12) I have a 99s across the board on the AFOQT and his pilot score was in the 80s My PCSM score is 87 and his was much, much lower I had the wing/cc (O-6) write my LoR. He had his Sq/CC (O-5) write his. Idk if personal letters made the difference but I had several ppl proofread mine and they all gave thumbs up to it. This hurts but at least I've got a good package for next year. For everybody with a worse package than mine but haven't heard yet, stay positive. As I just indicated it's still very possible for you -

Bummer. Didn't get picked up 99 pilot, 87 PCSM, stratted 2nd from the wing, Wing/CC wrote my LoR, but no PPL. 5th year in the AF but first time applying. I knew not having not a PPL could hurt but I was hopeful because I thought I had a good application otherwise -

I was wondering how and if career field release is taken into consideration. I am hoping that the "pilot shortage" would trump that if the candidate is a good fit for pilot -

Ah bummer sorry to hear that. So they find out either way? Edit: as in CC's get notified early either way -

That's encouraging to hear. Gets my hopes up we'll find out this coming week. How soon did you receive orders and pcs? -

Knowing myself, I'm gonna try to not build up Tuesday in my head to mean anything but I'm gonna build up Tuesday in my head. It's gonna come and pass with no results and I'm gonna be crushed. Not to mention my CC is still on holiday leave so results could potentially release and I'm not sure I would know right away! -

I'm a glass half full kind of guy... I would take that to mean results are finally out! -

Not to mention when it is time to pass results, they don't even tell you via email or mail or anything direct. They notify your CoC, when your commander eventually tells you. I mean, it makes sense the commander should know if he's losing a guy but still... -

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year you all. I purposely waited to think about this board until today and was glad to see the projected slots increased. With around 230 applications it's looking like about a third will be selected for UPT. Fingers crossed -

Since this forum isn't very active, is anybody on a different one that is more active? I've tried checking Reddit and Facebook and haven't found anything yet. Google just brings me back here. Also, are you guys following anything that is providing updates on the board? I'm in the dark and the suspense is growing. -

Obviously over a year later but did you get picked up? -

With about a month from potentially hearing the board results, I would expect chatter to pick up. Heck, I created an account here just this weekend! I saw your other comment they were able to find more slots. Did they elaborate on why? Is it due to the back up in the training pipeline? 99/87/no/1 My PCSM jumped from 30 to 87 when I retook the AFOQT, added 24.5 flight hours, and retook the TBAS. Flight hours are weighted much more heavily now, so yes I'd expect higher averages. -
Can confirm that Strike Eagle VML cycles are 2 years and 8 months. Most "get lucky" and stay for roughly 3 years. Some unlucky ones leave right at 2 years 8 months or less

Hey y'all. Like everybody else I'm staying busy to keep my mind off of the suspenseful wait. Read through the comments and I hope that 40 pilot slot projection was just rumor and not true. But I could see it being true with the pipelines so backed up. I'll post my info just because: Currently holding a rated position as a 12F. 99 AFOQT, 88 PCSM (no ppl, the new flight hour scoring helped my measly 25 flight hours). 1/3 Strat. Hoping those are good enough scores, got my Wing/CC to write my letter of rec. We'll see!
