  1. Well crud. Then what? Rely on sims and push the big topics to the FTU's? This seems like a race to the bottom.
  2. The end of an era... Curious to see how long the T-1's at Pensacola last given the unique training they provide.
  3. There's no reason USAF shouldn't have GPS approach capability in a primary trainer. As far as airmanship, I agree with you; flying an LPV can be done by any stick monkey who's practiced enough ILS or non-precision with arcing, etc. But in a primary trainer that's expected to teach students about versatility and ADM, taking away RNAV takes away options from the front and back seater. That's a lot of fields that you can't go to in IMC. Personally, its more about giving those crews options.
  4. This is ridiculous imo. I can understand having nav limitations on some of the legacy aircraft, but being unable to file /G in 2024 as the United States freaking Air Force is an embarrassment. Meanwhile, Bobby burning holes in the sky in his thunder chicken has more capable nav with a GI275. Oh dang. I had just watched a video where they showed off some Navy T-6B's at Randolph a couple years ago. Sad to see they never actually procured them.
  5. From some cursory research, it seems the only good thing to come out of the whole UPT Next/UPT 2.5 was the T-6B. Everything else is just falling flat on its face.
  6. Congrats! Was the B-2 a Guard guy, by chance?
  7. Where'd you read that? Everything I've heard about the -EX transition is that they'll just be using them single seat. It doesn't help that they're going to single seat units who shun dropping B-words.

Thankfully mine isn't at that level of increase yet, but having the circulatory system of a shaking chihuahua in my 20's doesn't help any.

I should clarify; the caffeine thing wasn't relayed to me at any point leading up to my physical (never went to Wright-Patt). I just know from a personal medical standpoint that caffeine doesn't play nice with my BP, so perhaps that's what they're trying to prevent.

As someone whose blood pressure is consistently on the verge of being over the 140/90 limit, I can completely understand the 7-day caffeine fast. It may also cause some people issues on the EKG. Source: Took my FC-1A two months ago
  11. Thought I would spread the word on this development. A few days ago, someone on the Air Force OTS subreddit alleged A3 told them that FY25 UPT slots for the Guard were cut significantly. Then, today, the 157th FS in SC sent a memo to applicants stating that no FY24 hiring boards would be held stating: "The number of UPT class dates available to Air National Guard fighter units has been cut dramatically. The South Carolina Air National Guard currently has three individuals who have been selected to attend pilot training, and none of those three will be able to conduct training starting in Fiscal Year 2025. It would be irresponsible to conduct a hiring board in 2024 when the likely start date for training would be 2027 at the very earliest." I attached the memo for curious souls. Really sorry for those who are close to the age limit or are waiting for UPT dates.

    CCW Choice

I have a full-size and more compact option depending on what clothing I wear or what situation I'm in. The full-size is a Sig P320 M18 model because I'm clearly a glutton for punishment. The other handgun I occasionally use is an M&P Shield 1.0. The truth is its harder to stay proficient with a small handgun like the shield, so I find myself more comfortable with the P320.
  13. Hopefully the pilots have somewhere to go. Didn't they just have a UPT board last year? That's gotta be rough.
  14. Been a while since I posted so I'll share my timeline updates. I added a lot of detail on the accession waiver stuff for anyone curious on how long those can take. Currently hired for a CSO spot (legacy herk Nav) in the Guard. Timeline (Prior Army AD, Break in service) AFOQT: Early October 2022 TBAS: Late October 2022 MEPS (for a different program that didn't pan out): March 2023 Interview: 2 October 2023 Verbal Offer: 3 October 2023 SG Waiver for enlistment submitted: 20 November 2023 SG Waiver returned for consult & documents: 7 December 2023 Consult & documents submitted to SG: 28 December 2023 SG Waiver Approved: 19 January 2024 Swearing In: 29 January 2024 FC1A: ___ Package sent to NGB: ___ NGB Approval: ___ OTS: ___ UCT: ___ Currently waiting on my unit to gain me since swearing in. According to them I can't schedule my FC1A with the base's flight med folks until I have a CAC again (probably due to not being in USAF systems?). Overall would not recommend having a break in service regardless.
  15. Hey, there. I've done some digging on this and the answer these days is pretty much no. All FC1's go through Wright-Patterson, and they don't process folks until they are selected for a 92T0 or 11HX type job.
  16. Adding my timeline to the list now. Curious to see how long things will take on the Guard side. Timeline (Prior Army AD, Current Civ, Hired as CSO in the ANG) AFOQT: Early October 2022 TBAS: Late October 2022 MEPS (for a different program that didn't pan out): March 2023 Interview: 2 October 2023 Verbal Offer: 3 October 2023 Swearing In: ___ FC1A: ___ Package sent to NGB: ___ NGB Approval: ___ OTS: ___ Schools/UCT: ___
