  1. I have seen a few people post graduate thesis related questionnaires on here lately and thought I might broaden my population a bit as well. Essentially, I am trying to find any correlations between types of electronic planning systems used, aircrew experience level, and time lost during flight planning. It is a quick 10 question survey (linked below) and would definitely appreciate your time and input. My apolgoies if some of the content does not apply to your respective communities. Thanks in advance! https://surveymonkey.com/s/NVQNMWN
  2. I want to believe so badly that losing your wings AND getting discharged over this is justified, even as an effort to make people pucker up before they think to execute airshows/public displays below published guidance. I just can't say that it is warranted, though, especially the discharge. A huge fit over something negligible in the grand scheme considering worse shit happens daily. Who knows though, after all the ass-pain this guy has been through, I am sure he was happy to get a free pass out of his ADSC.
  3. '2' to those before me. There really is no way of knowing what a "bad assignment" is from what other people say, because you will build your own opinion through different experiences and perspectives. From my experience, it isn't the airframe, mission, or even location that makes an assignment "less desirable," it is the temporarily shitty leadership, personnel, regulations, schedules, or burdens on the family aspect. In the end, the difference between good and bad is what efforts you made to make the best of something you initially may not have been too excited about. FWIW, the RC-135 and its five separate variants and equally different missions are pretty sweet gigs. Good luck to you!
  4. Hahaha I love the internet! Awesome find. Farewell Mongo, if that is your real name...
  5. Haha, I am sure. I am curious though, hes a WACer but apparently hasn't belonged to a flying squadron since 1988. BG with only 1500 heavy hrs...I wonder if he still wears a bag... As far as the argument posed by the good General, it is not only the fighter community suffering, it is everywhere. Until big Air Force stops acting like a spoiled teen-aged girl, worrying about how fashionable our uniforms are or how fat we look in the mirror, the warfighters' well-being will be on the backburner.
  6. And this is why the ABU should have never been created.
  7. Haha yeah that stuff cracks me up! I am sure the TCNs have no idea where they are and don't talk about it either. Maybe they should just change the name to "Undisclosed AB" and everyone will be happy.
  8. That I do not know. As far as the actual drop is concerned, I think ACC lobbies how many we need for the year/quarter/whatever applies to AFPC and they put it in the pot of other assignments/"needs of the AF" for AETC. Like I said though, I don't know. You can ask your flt/cc about it, but I bet they will just tell you to wait for your dream sheet. Wish I could be of better help, haha.
  9. If you want it and ask for it, I would bet that you'd get it. Co production at the CTS is fairly stable at the moment as far as I know. Good luck!
  10. If you're on AD, rumor is that next year TA will start covering flight time/classes toward FAA ratings - including PPL. That's what the Aero Club here is saying at least.
  11. Hooray more paperwork to keep me away from doing my flying duties...good job Fail Force! I mean seriously, what is a O-3 PRF going to have in it from a flying squadron? Two training reports and an OPR? Sounds like a waste of time for everyone, just promote everyone except people who have an UIF...because that is whats going to happen anyways.
  12. Remember its "exposed" body parts. There is a dude in my sq who has both arms sleeved. You can't tell though because he always has long sleeves in blues and PTs. Now I wouldn't recommend going and getting your forearms tattooed, but since you already have it, I wouldn't sweat it. Just wear long sleeves to your interview if you are worried about it.
  13. Hahaha funny. This is really like a bad video OPR... "I do everything everyone else does, take credit for random stuff because 'I was there,' and then I exaggerate it all." To be extremely modest, I work way harder than this guy.
  14. Yeah just re-read that actually, haha. That, at least to me, still suggests strats, strats, strats. And as a nav, I have a ton of flying, IFE, combat bullets already. I need that extra space to say that I am good in scheds, SELO, etc too. I guess it boils down to what your commander wants to write. I know my OPR changed drastically, for the better, as it went up the chain. I am afraid that for navs it would become a decision between "send to CFIC ASAP" or "to UPT now!" on your push line. While I will always want UPT more, I don't want to burn ops for upgrade if things fall through. I will ask around though, its got me thinking. Edit: Grammar! (still sucks)
  15. This is actually the first time hearing this "connection from OPR to 215" deal. Anyone else done this? I am thinking it would be something nice to have if you dont have a strat in your push line, but certainly not a must to be competitive. Maybe more like wasted space if its time for PRFs and you didnt get selected?
  16. Hey all, I am currently a Nav starting to build my AD UPT package for next year FY2011. I have noticed that the info for AFOQT third time testing has been removed from AFI 36-2605 Attach 2. Has anyone here gotten a waiver despite this? Any guidance on getting a waiver? I am worried that I will not be as competitive because I was an idiot in ROTC four years ago. I appreciate the help! Edit: Thanks for moving this to the appropriate thread.
