  1. This is important! While Welsh bears some of the burden of the issues we face, let’s remember the regieme in charge at the top at the time (not necessarily the most military friendly.) Not to mention sequestration, a recovering economy..all that matters.
  2. And you’re the only one here still crying about it.
  3. Welsh, McDew, Rand, Norty were all pilots too and in key GO positions... Our fellow pilots created this mess.
  4. Yepp, kind of like the MAF AFMAN vol 1, two interim changes in 1 month and still haven’t gotten it right with utter confusion across the squadrons. But still, better than nothing.
  5. Correct, there are many drivers of healthcare cost. Another side to this argument is that the people screeching for universal healthcare are the same people advocating for open borders and paying for undocumented individuals. How the hell do we pay for that?! The best answer to healthcare would be to foster competition and innovation in the private market and have a small safety net for those who really need it.
  6. As was mentioned before, homogenous means people think alike and thus it is easier to come to consensus and pass common laws. If you’ve ever been to Japan you know what I’m talking about. The Japanese are wonderful people, but most of them are not just ethnically homogenous but culturally as well. Most act, think and even speak alike. Also consider this, in Japan - it is considered a grave family sin to be a dead beat in society. You won’t see many homeless people. They are all ingrained with a common sense of work ethic and crime is pretty much non existent. Thus, things like socialized medicine and even strict gun laws work there - the same can’t be said about the US.
  7. Well they figured it out. Q3 the major a year out from his separation for a 1 knot overspeed. CC directed requal, the CC just secured a body for 2 additional years!
  8. And I’m sure that wonderful Chief in all her wisdom gave you a positive welcome to a new unit. Kind of like the Chief downrange who stopped my treadmill for me while I was running to tell me to tuck in my shirt. I was about to lose my shit when a fellow Major from the squadron intervened and told said Chief that if he pulls that shit again he will call SF on him. It was like hell broke lose if someone was caught with their sleeves up in the 109* heat.
  9. Good, drain that swamp. Seriously. Eliminate the Phoenix program and input a few FSS airmen and officers as execs (they would do a better job anyways.). Excelling in leadership in your primary duty and airframe should be the key discriminator in who we select for senior leadership. The CAF seems to have figured this out, aren’t most CAF CCs and DOs weapons officers?
  10. I hope this is true! Nothing yells buffoonery like allowing in house flight evaluations to see if you’re safe to fly a multi million dollar airplane, but have a “fitness cell” at each base to administer PT tests because they don’t trust commanders.
  11. It’s not going to work, someone is going to get killed. I am legitimately surprised the Air Force is going through with this disasterous idea. I knew the Air Force was pretty stupid but I didn’t know we could hit this new low of stupidity. How many more class As or fatalities will it take for the clowns at staff to realize you can’t cut corners in the business of aviation? Do they think these UPT next or whatever dudes are going to get trained at the FTU or ops squadrons? Who is going to train them!? Most of your experienced IPs are either gone or queep guzzling up at Group or Wing Staff.
  12. Your CC is a tool and one of the reasons we have a retention problem.
  13. They live in caves and operate like it’s the Stone Age, I wouldn’t say they are winning. Now why the f are we still in Afghanistan? Excellent question!
  14. Until they start paying guys who stay in comparable to year 2-3 salary at the airlines not much is going to stick...people can claim “it isn’t about the money,” but when the 9-10 year post UPT dudes with families start hearing their bros talk about how awesome their airline gig is in terms of $ v QOL the decision matrix becomes real simple.
  15. Anyone who is not in the 07-08’ year group for now....good luck 09’ guys!!
  16. 11-13 years? That’s convenient, so right for the dudes about to get out.
  17. The other one I’ve heard is “We would’ve had the SEAD take care of the RF threat before we even take off so I don’t need to waste my time studying those threats.”
  18. Be extra careful when shopping overseas, especially Southeast Asia, turns out a lot of the “girls” are ladyboys. Easy to hide details like that on tinder.
  19. Sounds like you went through such an ordeal. Glad it got taken care of. Med group Varies by base. At my current base they are phenomenal and absolutely professional. They get you in and out ASAP and work to keep you on flying status/ being able to work your job. At my old base they were awful. Constantly closed for some BS exercise or training. PHAs were a full day event. Paperwork constantly lost. The med group even delayed a contingency deployment to provide hurricane relief because people didn’t have their shots - mind you this was to a location we went to all the time. Funny enough, the base CGOC was full of medical officers. Seems like they had time for bake sales and “mentoring sessions” while their troops were providing grade D service.
  20. Haha there is nothing more important that we should be focusing on..the issue many people have is the increase in requirements with the intent of making squadrons go NMR in order to provide a demand signal for more people and resources. How many DOs / CCs do you know that would let that happen? I don’t need some clown up at MAJCOM HQ to tell me to focus on tactics and flying, those worth their salt do that anyways as professional aviators. Plus, this technique isn’t going to sharpen people’s tactical proficiency. People are just going to get even more creative, cut corners in order to check the box and be green by the end of the semiannual. Seen it happen before. This isn’t about letting us focus on the important stuff: If MAJCOM really wanted us to increase tactical proficiency, they would eliminate queep - like making WOs execs / aid de camps / additional duties / resiliency day etc. So far, except some weak memo from the CSAF, have not seen that effort.
  21. For those of you in the MAF (perhaps also the CAF), you may have noticed a significant increase in the amount of currency and continuation requirements. There are now specific requirements from AMC to perform large force exercises for airdrop units as part of currencies, among other new requirements. A lot of this stemmed from Ex Mobility Guardian in 2017 which, for those who were there know, was an absolute clown show. There were absolutely shortcomings with the C-17and C-130’s ability to integrate in a large force tactical environment. It was literally an international embarrassment. However, all of this comes at a time when we are undermanned, overworked and cannot retain anyone. Word up at the Mobility Mecca is that this drastic increase in flying requirements is designed to make squadrons go NMR, in order to produce a demand signal to HHQ to get more money, people and resources. Any other MAF dudes on here experiencing the same thing in your squadrons? Personally I feel like this is going to royally backfire. I have yet to meet an 05 DO/CC type that would let anyone in his Squadron go NMR..
  22. No, at least in the 130 world patches do some great work and training. The problem is a lot of our 05-06 leadership are careerist politicians who don’t understand how to utilize the patches. I have three examples now of patches sitting in the exec offices while the tactics shop is burning to the ground.
  23. For the love of god, can the CSAF just come out and straight up ban the use of a pilot as an executive officer and call it fraud, waste and abuse? Go back to having MPF officers sit exec. Heck they would do a better job.
  24. My preworkout triggered an explosive warning on one of their machines. Caused a huge fuss and almost caused me to miss the flight. Clowns.
  25. Interesting; on the 130 side talking to my bros they are each flying 3 times a week. The sim is running weekend sims.
