People always bring up the Nordic countries as an example of socialist success. First, those countries are sparcely populated and highly homogeneous that share similar ideology..stark difference from here in America. Second, their economies are actually starting to suffer because wealth creation and free enterprise is suppressed. There is a lot of displeasure with their government and that is starting to take a toll. Finally, who would want to pay a 50%+ tax rate!? I will agree with you that no country is truly capitalist or socialist but rather a mix of ideologies on a scale.

Bernie was on welfare in his early adult years, then somehow became a politician and is now a millionaire. No one becomes rich in politics unless you are a corrupt crook. I’d pay money to see him run again, watching him get evicerated will be entertaining.

Pretty sure he wasn’t asking for special favors..B-1s fly a lot less than Mobility and 1x B-1 hour is not equal to 1x airlift hour. Just like the fighter guys usually get a boost for low relative hours.

That’s disappointing, you would think that someone who was an Air Force Officer and helo pilot would be educated enough to not fall for this new wave of progressive socialism..or maybe she just wants the easiest path to votes. At least McSally has been a fantastic rep and an outspoken defender of national security and service members.

This is important! While Welsh bears some of the burden of the issues we face, let’s remember the regieme in charge at the top at the time (not necessarily the most military friendly.) Not to mention sequestration, a recovering economy..all that matters.

Correct, there are many drivers of healthcare cost. Another side to this argument is that the people screeching for universal healthcare are the same people advocating for open borders and paying for undocumented individuals. How the hell do we pay for that?! The best answer to healthcare would be to foster competition and innovation in the private market and have a small safety net for those who really need it.

As was mentioned before, homogenous means people think alike and thus it is easier to come to consensus and pass common laws. If you’ve ever been to Japan you know what I’m talking about. The Japanese are wonderful people, but most of them are not just ethnically homogenous but culturally as well. Most act, think and even speak alike. Also consider this, in Japan - it is considered a grave family sin to be a dead beat in society. You won’t see many homeless people. They are all ingrained with a common sense of work ethic and crime is pretty much non existent. Thus, things like socialized medicine and even strict gun laws work there - the same can’t be said about the US.

And I’m sure that wonderful Chief in all her wisdom gave you a positive welcome to a new unit. Kind of like the Chief downrange who stopped my treadmill for me while I was running to tell me to tuck in my shirt. I was about to lose my shit when a fellow Major from the squadron intervened and told said Chief that if he pulls that shit again he will call SF on him. It was like hell broke lose if someone was caught with their sleeves up in the 109* heat.

Good, drain that swamp. Seriously. Eliminate the Phoenix program and input a few FSS airmen and officers as execs (they would do a better job anyways.). Excelling in leadership in your primary duty and airframe should be the key discriminator in who we select for senior leadership. The CAF seems to have figured this out, aren’t most CAF CCs and DOs weapons officers?

I hope this is true! Nothing yells buffoonery like allowing in house flight evaluations to see if you’re safe to fly a multi million dollar airplane, but have a “fitness cell” at each base to administer PT tests because they don’t trust commanders.

It’s not going to work, someone is going to get killed. I am legitimately surprised the Air Force is going through with this disasterous idea. I knew the Air Force was pretty stupid but I didn’t know we could hit this new low of stupidity. How many more class As or fatalities will it take for the clowns at staff to realize you can’t cut corners in the business of aviation? Do they think these UPT next or whatever dudes are going to get trained at the FTU or ops squadrons? Who is going to train them!? Most of your experienced IPs are either gone or queep guzzling up at Group or Wing Staff.

Until they start paying guys who stay in comparable to year 2-3 salary at the airlines not much is going to stick...people can claim “it isn’t about the money,” but when the 9-10 year post UPT dudes with families start hearing their bros talk about how awesome their airline gig is in terms of $ v QOL the decision matrix becomes real simple.
