Sounds like you went through such an ordeal. Glad it got taken care of. Med group Varies by base. At my current base they are phenomenal and absolutely professional. They get you in and out ASAP and work to keep you on flying status/ being able to work your job. At my old base they were awful. Constantly closed for some BS exercise or training. PHAs were a full day event. Paperwork constantly lost. The med group even delayed a contingency deployment to provide hurricane relief because people didn’t have their shots - mind you this was to a location we went to all the time. Funny enough, the base CGOC was full of medical officers. Seems like they had time for bake sales and “mentoring sessions” while their troops were providing grade D service.

Haha there is nothing more important that we should be focusing on..the issue many people have is the increase in requirements with the intent of making squadrons go NMR in order to provide a demand signal for more people and resources. How many DOs / CCs do you know that would let that happen? I don’t need some clown up at MAJCOM HQ to tell me to focus on tactics and flying, those worth their salt do that anyways as professional aviators. Plus, this technique isn’t going to sharpen people’s tactical proficiency. People are just going to get even more creative, cut corners in order to check the box and be green by the end of the semiannual. Seen it happen before. This isn’t about letting us focus on the important stuff: If MAJCOM really wanted us to increase tactical proficiency, they would eliminate queep - like making WOs execs / aid de camps / additional duties / resiliency day etc. So far, except some weak memo from the CSAF, have not seen that effort.

For those of you in the MAF (perhaps also the CAF), you may have noticed a significant increase in the amount of currency and continuation requirements. There are now specific requirements from AMC to perform large force exercises for airdrop units as part of currencies, among other new requirements. A lot of this stemmed from Ex Mobility Guardian in 2017 which, for those who were there know, was an absolute clown show. There were absolutely shortcomings with the C-17and C-130’s ability to integrate in a large force tactical environment. It was literally an international embarrassment. However, all of this comes at a time when we are undermanned, overworked and cannot retain anyone. Word up at the Mobility Mecca is that this drastic increase in flying requirements is designed to make squadrons go NMR, in order to produce a demand signal to HHQ to get more money, people and resources. Any other MAF dudes on here experiencing the same thing in your squadrons? Personally I feel like this is going to royally backfire. I have yet to meet an 05 DO/CC type that would let anyone in his Squadron go NMR..

No, at least in the 130 world patches do some great work and training. The problem is a lot of our 05-06 leadership are careerist politicians who don’t understand how to utilize the patches. I have three examples now of patches sitting in the exec offices while the tactics shop is burning to the ground.

For the love of god, can the CSAF just come out and straight up ban the use of a pilot as an executive officer and call it fraud, waste and abuse? Go back to having MPF officers sit exec. Heck they would do a better job.
-
Interesting; on the 130 side talking to my bros they are each flying 3 times a week. The sim is running weekend sims.

The intent is that they’ll make up for the lost training at the FTUs. Can’t speak for the fighter side but on the MAF guys, the FTUs are running at max capacity and min manning. They will definitely not get their lost UPT training at the FTUs. Then they’ll show up to the units and be our problem. They will continue to be burdened with nonner duties because commanders can’t seem to follow CSAF guidance. They’ll waste time on being equipment custodian, security manager, Christmas party planner, unit piss test POC or whatever. They’ll have no one to set them straight and teach them how to be pilots because all of our experience is running for the airlines, if they aren’t shackled up at the wing exec or DS office. We are so f*c&ed.

None at this nook of the circus. See how much of a clown show the 09 board was? Expect similar incompetency! Most likely your leadership will have you write them anyways awaiting further guidance.
-
At least not as worthless as base SAPR coordinator (actual full time position)
-
Congrats man! I have a feeling you’ll be missed (in your real life squadron.)
-
AMC is probably the most queep infested command right now. Our generals and aspiring generals wouldn’t know what a cockpit looked like anymore despite having pilot wings on their chest.
-
Guys are starting to get notified (of being selected). Not a peep from my wing but then again they must notify the non selects first.

The Donald may be on the verge of one of the biggest peace breakthroughs in recent history and people are getting wrapped around the axel regarding Trump (returning) a salute to a NK General. We really are in trouble. People focus more on optics than the actual issue. (For the record I thought it was stupid regarding people getting spun up about Obama bowing.) Plenty of material to criticize any President on, this is not one of them.

I’ll try to be serious: formation low level to an airdrop! Airdrop is actually the mission while formation / low level is a tactic but it’s still the most fun thing I do in my airplane - followed by tac approaches.
-
Could be a rolling ETIC. What a clown show.
-
Awful idea. Instead of fostering a culture where people are excited to come and do one of the best jobs in the world - the Air Force should trap people in so they can’t leave?
-
Well then hopefully the PIT IPs do their job and wash them out. If they make it through PIT, then hopefully they are trainable.

Commanders are dropping like flies this year

To be fair, sometimes when you go off to an attached job your boss micromanages your flying schedule and shits on you when you’re gone. Then yes, sometimes some pilots hate flying- detracts from building their CGOQ package. -
There comes a time in any organization where people start to get salty. When I showed up it was about the time someone was a mid level major. Now, it’s freaking LTs in UPT. That’s a problem guys.
-
My favorite are the CGOC bakesale, “mentoring session,” or circle jerk session sent by the CGOC President..who also happens to be a finance LT, no wonder our finance shop is a mess/ never open/ takes 2 months to process vouchers.
-
So if senior raters get the list tomorrow is it common for them to notify folks?
-
They can’t do that, where will they find all the FGOs to fill 365 taskers for Chief of PowerPoint?
-
He’s at the academy, he’s not banging any “hot chicks”..

We are almost getting to the point where the 09 guys will have to re-write PRFs for the December board since they haven’t been selected for promotion yet...AGAIN! Some transparency would be nice, I mean if they hope to retain anyone.
