  1. Idk ask any of the mid to senior captains yanked off the Sq flying deployments because their ground job making PowerPoints and editing OPRs is more important. It’s a young man’s game for the most part.
  2. I’m guessing it has to do with the 100% thing as well - in the sense that they didn’t get enough selects to meet the new demand. Our wing alone sent up 3 DNPs out of about 20 people so if you do the math that’s close to a historical select rate.
  3. This is my biggest fear. There was no coincidence between the sudden spike in pilot related accidents and the sequestration of 2013. I remember having to shove 8 copilots on a 2 hour pro sortie to get their monthly takeoff, approach and landing. We cannot keep doing more with less and cutting basic pilot proficiency. The bean counting cucks will never learn.
  4. FSS strikes again! Why the hell does an airman in FSS need to be an approval level for leave? Isn’t this the kind of stuff Goldfingers talked about where we give back power to Squadron Commanders? Also not sure which is worse, DTS or Leaveweb. Filling out a voucher or leave form manually worked just fine back in the day.
  5. True, I’ve just seen time and time again actual missions get axed so guys can participate in b*ttf*ckery like running around in chem gear through decon lines for the fifth time that year.
  6. I agree with you that asking someone to do their job as an IP is not unreasonable; that was not a good example of said 06’s shitty leadership - there are numerous other examples that everyone can identify with that constitute the very caustic leadership that drove you out: for example, said 06 lecturing the DOs that this #unity march takes precedence over all and any mission planning for the day. Can we all agree that this is a valid criticism of today’s 06+ leadership force and one of the reasons that drive good dudes out?
  7. Exercises and OREs..let’s stop doing the actual mission to do a fake exercise to prove to leadership that we can do the mission!
  8. No, Dyess. Problem is this resiliency push is coming from HQ AMC and higher. They want people to make posters for the event. Flying squadron DO said his poster will be #getthefbacktowork. Under the new wing leadership our Sq leadership has had to fight many battles..they have to pick and chose which ones are worth fighting. I’m guessing a day wasted is not a battle worth fighting, but still worthy sport b*tching about!
  9. Meh, I'm glad some people feel that way. However, in our neck of the woods in AMC, not so much the case. Case in point: our "wingman day" is this coming Monday and our WING/CC has a full fun day of events planned for the wing, to include a #unity march (that's what he is actually calling it) to start the day, followed by an array of briefs from different "experts" on how not to kill yourself. This day will also include a "fair" with different base support agencies, the same ones who take 6 months to process PCS orders or forget to turn off your HDP even after you remind them 15 times and then ask you to come in to their office at odd ball times to fill out paperwork for indebtedness. All of this is going on while we have an unprecedented ops tempo with 3 different exercises, a deployment getting ready to go out the door, and several dudes coming in on weekends to catch up on work and hooking their checkrides because flying is obviously not a priority for "leadership." This is when we aren't doing the six iterations of CBRNE or SABC refresher for our upcoming surges. And they wonder why they have a retention problem? Then they have the nerve to send out all these surveys asking why pilots are leaving yet waste everyone's time having them show up to a freaking "#unity march" like we are a bunch of college kids from Berkley. A Major in our squadron said it best today: "I bet American Airlines doesn't have mandatory unity marches and briefings on how not to kill yourself"...
  10. Ah, I see Chiefs wasting everyone’s oxygen and time downrange still exists. Do they brainwash them at Chief school or does it happen earlier in their career? Also, where do they find the spineless CCs that enable said SNCOs?
  11. I love military aviation, I hate most parts of the Air Force...if you can know the difference and focus on what you value, you will have a fulfilling career.
  12. Are these the same jokers who regulate squadron bars home station? Oh I’m sorry..”heritage room”..”bar” may offend some people.
  13. They just don’t get it..or maybe they do; and have accepted the fact that they cannot retain talent so now they are looking at the only way to make the pilot number slides green: ramp up production. To no ones surprise, they are doing so via absurd and literally unsafe ideas. We are already seeing the experience sucked out of the squadrons as the squadrons get younger and younger. God help us if we get T-6 direct students.
  14. Unfortunately Delta and United’s management have gone full SJW the last few years.
  15. It’s a never ending, frustrating cycle. Those who rose up the ranks by serving multiple tours as an exec will foster the same system that allowed them to get ahead. Glad to see it’s not just AMC that has no clue how to use their patches.
  16. I’m confused, are we upset that some of us are only getting 17 hours a month (or less/ barely staying proficient due to random exec or wing job); or cynical because some of us that were lucky* to stay in the flying squadron are actually flying 3 times a week?
  17. Airperson is offensive to non ops types as it insinuates that you aren’t as special if you aren’t near the flight line. Soon to come: blueperson.
  18. You got me, I meant to say passing students who shouldn’t meet MIF but are just passed through anyways to meet timeline.
  19. And with the exception of the Italians most of them (Saudis, Nigerians) are god awful and don’t deserve to be near an airplane let alone pilot it.
  20. Hahah! They won’t wash many out, can’t make the failed “production” initiatives ruin a perfectly good OPR bullet for some O-7s. They will just ram them through barely meeting MIF. God I feel so sorry for anyone getting a UPT Inst assignment right now.
  21. From what I understood, NAFs deal strictly with command and control of Wing Kings while the MAJCOM focuses on the strategic issues and programs related to the MAJCOM? Much the same way there is a group commander between the squadron and wing?
  22. Oh great, a bunch of brand new wingmen/copilots shoved through UPT with no one in the operational squadrons to train them because your IPs are too busy in the Wing exec office to be able to train the youngins let alone remain proficient themselves...what could go wrong?
  23. Allegedly..but who knows any more with AF leadership?
  24. The exec network told me we should be finding out about the recent Majors board in March..fwiw.
  25. Or kegs of longboard from Hickman/ Alaskan from Elmo! Also hard to cruise low level up the Mekong river in Vietnam in a regional jet.
