Count me with the guys who say don't bother trying to get any advance studying done for UPT. You will not be expected to know anything walking in the door, and will be taught everything once you get there. A few weeks prior to starting class learn the boldface and ops limits for the T-6 and that's it. Don't even bother trying to do this too early because that stuff is ALL subject to change, and un-learning something is 10x harder than learning it in the first place

The difference is Howard Stern actually has talent and business savvy. Say what you want about the content of the man's work, but there are few people who have been so consistently successful in the entertainment industry as Howard Stern. You don't remain at the top for 30 years just on "shock value".

There are people who just don't care. I've had to knock it off and orbit in my MOA several times because some dood in his 172 decided to transit the MOA VFR, despite being advised by Columbus approach that the MOA was in use and there were aircraft currently using the airspace. Not a single fuck was given by the 172 guy.

When I went to PIT for my move to T-1s it was initially written as an out-and-back TDY, and therefore built in DTS, to include incremental accrual vouchers. My PCS orders were subsequently amended to make PIT a TDY enroute to my gaining location. When I got to Columbus I was advised by the local finance circus that I should zero out the DTS voucher and do EVERYTHING for the TDY and PCS on one voucher via PIPS, so I did. Well, despite me clearly listing my DTS-paid accruals under "previous payments and advances" those idiots STILL paid me the full voucher amount to the tune of just short of $10,000 over what I should have been paid. This was back in February. I repeatedly went to them and told them about the error, but since the DTS voucher had been deleted they swore up and down that I was paid the correct amount. I would have thought it would be much easier to give away $10,000! Well, fast forward SIX FRIGGIN MONTHS and they finally "fixed the glitch". Without notifying me or giving me any options, they turned off my pay. I'm talking $0.00 paycheck from now until Sept to cover the debt. Now, I am not an idiot, I still have the money but it astonishes me just how incompetent these people can be at their job, and suddenly it becomes MY problem when they fuck it up royally. If I did my job like they do their job I would have been dead a long time ago.

Has anyone watched this idiotic show? The name pretty much lays out what the show is all about. The episode I'm watching right now is showing a guy "repossessing" a Gulfstream II and they are implying that the guy is sneaking it out of the airport without airport security (or presumably the FAA or anyone else) knowing. They are taking off out of a NTA at night in this Gulfstream right into IMC. So are they saying they took off into IMC without filing an IFR flight plan? Doubtful.

So you're telling me I could leave 5 years early and still get 45% along with the rest of the retirement benefits? It makes me want to punch infants and kick toddlers knowing that I am only half way to being eligible.

Say what you will about their politics, but the Bush family is a class act. One of our crews was coming home via Bangor one time a few years back and George Sr and Barbra were there greeting them with the greeters. That's still the case... No autopilot until after trans check. I don't care what phase my student is in, if they demonstrate that automation of any kind (autopilot, flight director, MFD map, etc) is a crutch I take it away and force them to do it manually, and most IPs here have the same mentality.

Doubt the FAA would be fined for it. It was clearly NOTAMed out, the company decided to dispatch their aircraft there knowing it was out, and the crew accepted clearance for the approach knowing the GS was out.

Recently flew to SFO commercial. The wife couldn't understand why I absolutely INSISTED that she wear at least closed toe shoes. She was dead set on wearing sandals.

I have heard it from MANY senior-type people (multi star general officers) that the intention is to make Al Udeid "the Ramstein of the Middle East" and those were their words verbatim. I'm wondering if the US has a bit better contract with the Qataris so that they can't just pull the plug on us like the Saudis did, but I doubt it.
