  1. They're lucky they didn't learn the hard way that the use of DEADLY force is authorized.
  2. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes I wonder what they THOUGHT would happen when they decided to trespass on a well known VERY secure area? "Oh, hey guys! We don't get many visitors way out here, c'mon, let's give you the tour!"
  3. I thought about that too. I wonder if "leading edges" like the shoulders have a higher rating.
  4. Check my second link.... that is NOT a picture of unbolted seats.
  5. I wonder how big the "recovery area" is? I would imagine they are accounting for upper level winds to carry the balloon somewhere, and to a lesser extent Felix on the way down.
  6. You guys TOTALLY missed my reference to depot MX. Needless to say I'm very suspicious of anything coming out of depot, and with (what I feel to be) good reason. The statement by the AA rep that depot is basically infallible raises concerns as to the credibility of the whole system. Is the company so fractured that they are willing to throw their own employees (line MX) under the bus in order to preserve their relationship with the depot contractor?
  7. Garbage in, garbage out. Gotta love my nav having to direct RV because the tanker showed up bingo SA
  8. Only late because the tanker went to the wrong track in the first place.
  9. Maybe I read it wrong, but I read the post I quoted to mean that nav school T-6 pilots don't go through PIT, which is incorrect.
  10. Wrong. The husband of one of the nav students in my PIT class is going through T-6 PIT right now to go to P-cola
  11. I know they're not going to qual to be an AC on the airplane. My understanding is that at P-Cola the nav student will sit in the right seat and the I-nav will be in the jump seat, but I think during an EP they would jump into the right seat to perform copilot duties.
  12. There are 5 navs in my T-1 PIT class right now. They go through the exact same program as the pilots do up to (and including) the qual check, and then go back to Pensacola for whatever nav specific training they will get while the pilots go on to finish the T-1 PIT program.
  13. As am I, but that doesn't do a whole lot for American's business prospects
  14. "What outsourced company would be so stupid as to not bolt down seats?" Oh, gee, I dunno. Contract depot maintenance has such a sterling record.... Things don't seem to be looking too good for American. They're on the downswing while their major competitors, especially Delta seem to have righted the ship. If I were a betting man I wouldn't be putting money on American right now.
  15. B707/B720. Point? The reason 135 guys get a B707 type is because there is simply no -80 type out there. The 135 is shorter, narrower, and has a shorter wing span than the 707. Furthermore, every single major system of the two airplanes is substantially different. They are not the same, or even really that similar beyond outside appearance.
  16. choke yourself. Almost as annoying as tanker/RJ guys claiming they fly a 707.
  17. So where in the FSS do you work that basic vis recce escapes you?
  18. Dare I ask where you swipe it?
  19. "survivable" crash..... judging from what was left of the front end of that crash "survivable" is relative
  20. My understanding is that the Navy's pattern was designed to hide paint stains (no bullshit, that was the explanation I got). Even still, that uniform should AT LEAST be reversible to something high vis so when you fall off the bo-at you have a reasonable chance of being seen and picked up. As for the Air Force disaster of a uniform-- I had to wear it a few times at SOS (after getting the rank updated from 2Lt and getting wings sewn on). I feel REALLY sorry for non-bag wearers who are stuck in that heap of shit. I thought the bag was hot and didn't breathe well. The ABU is a whole new level of pain. And speaking of pain, maybe it was just because I had a fresh-ish set, but by the end of the afternoon that "uniform" had about sawed my balls clean off from chaffing. Any reasonable person (regardless of service, or even being in the military AT ALL) can see that this "we have to have our own uniform" nonsense has to go. There should be ONE utility uniform DOD wide, differentiated only by the patches and nametapes. That way you have the economy of scale going for you, as well as substantially simplified logistics. Utility/combat uniforms are not where services should be distinctive-- that's what the service uniform is for.
  21. We actually have that a lot on JSTARS
  22. Obligatory
  23. Clearly.... I mean, ALL those keys are right next to each other.... a totally understandable mistake
  24. Too soon for "take your collection deck and shove it" jokes from Libya?
  25. WTF is with the title of the thread? Anyway, this is interesting stuff, and I hope they get it sorted out!
