  1. Just heard about this... https://abcnews.go.com/GMA/video/747-cargo-plane-crash-afghanistan-determined-19311154
  2. I'd recommend keeping that to yourself. Compartmentalize it. Hold it in. It's better that way. Mike, no worries. I didn't take it any way other than intended. Thanks for the words.
  3. I flew the next day...and I was fine. I've spoken to a few people about it. I wasn't the only one who witnessed it. They also flew. Sad fact is that plane crashes are a part of the business. I was hoping to never witness one myself, and I hope to never witness one again. Hearing about it on the news is one thing, seeing/hearing/feeling the impact is quite another. I've since watched it a dozen times or so on youtube. Believe it or not, that helps to desensitize. Still makes my stomach turn, but what are you gonna do? BL, I'm good. My rotation ended shortly after that incident, and provided the opportunity to reconnect with my family and think about "life". That said, aviation is, and always has been, the passion of my life. Can't wait to get back in the air next month.
  4. Thanks, no. Compartmentalized and moved on. The MC-12W crash 2 days prior only made it worse though. I knew the 747 was going to crash well before it did. The first thing i saw was the plane climbing at a 45 degree angle. Even empty, they don't do that. The AOA kept increasing though...even at 80 degrees nose-high, it continued to climb albeit briefly. I can recount every detail precisely, but instead I'm going to go grab a coffee, go out to my backyard (rural Iowa acreage), and enjoy the day.
  5. Just got back from downrange. Witnessed the 747 crash firsthand. Didn't sleep for 2 days. That memory will haunt me forever...
  6. Can't. Stop. Watching.
  7. 2. Edit: This actually made the ######ing NBC Nightly News.
  8. Prayers for the family.

  10. There's no mention of it on FNC or CNN's website as of a few minutes ago. Either it was a false report, or it's being buried in lieu of gun control articles and NORAD sleigh tracking...
  11. Anything?
  12. None of this trolling is relevant to the thread topic. It's disappointing to see the good work being performed by the Liberty guys minimized by this smear campaign. /soapboxmodeoff Edited for momentary lack of self-control.
  13. No.
  14. QFT. Thanks again for the ride on Tuesday, Huggy. I dropped off the video in the office next to your ops desk.
  15. Huggy, we're getting a few permanent party folks who were prior C-17, then did flow through manning for MC-12 and decided to stick with it. Apparently the MC-12 isn't as bad as everyone (who hasn't flown it) makes it out to be.
  16. Hoping for the best. My thoughts are with those impacted by this event. Edit: More detailed info, updated 0908 MDT. https://www.krdo.com/news/Areas-west-and-north-of-Garden-of-the-Gods-and-I-25-evacuated/-/417220/15220000/-/5ja4yb/-/index.html
  17. Wow...Charlie's not looking so hot these days. Maybe a skirt, heels, and nylons will polish this turd?
  18. No sensitive info is ever passed. I'm well versed in OPSEC. It's always good to rehack the "watch what you say on public forums" currency though...message received. BL, if you want basic info about the mission, I'd recommend www.google.com but if you are looking for training timelines, Beale info, QOL at the 489th or 427th, housing options, etc. feel free to PM me.
  19. There's a ton of good info in this thread, much of it grossly outdated. PM me your info if you want the latest, or have specific questions.
  20. Flagrant foul.
  21. Reading stuff like this makes me understand why EVERY SINGLE PERSON I know who has ever flown on the E-3 hates it. You know its bad when you hate each other. Read what you guys just wrote...it's chock full of hate and bitterness. In MC-12's, we typically get along great. On the Cobra Ball, we got along great too. ABCCC...yep, we got along there too. And the whole time we high-fived each other over the fact that we didn't have to fly the E-3, for reasons like what you typed above. We extended training missions to get the mission crew complete, and we flew pattern work to get the pilots complete, before going to the bar to get shit-faced together.
  22. Maybe a finance chick could do it so we could put her in for a Bronze Star.
  23. What do they call that again? Oh yeah...back-pedaling.
  24. Lockheed Martin.
