  1. They gave him a LOR and convened a FEB because he wouldn't fly, due to unexplained hypoxia symptoms and the addition of a charcoal filter that made the problem worse? Way to take care of each other.
  2. Ambient air? As in NOT sucking on the oxygen mask? Would a LOX retrofit fix this problem? Or could the problem possibly be unassociated (or in conjunction with) the OBOGS?
  3. Work with this guy daily. I had no idea about the Silver Star until a month ago or so, and even then I thought "Tavis standard". He's top notch, and a pleasure to work with. Nice job, Tavis!
  4. I should print and post this in my squadron. ...too soon?
  5. if you didn't have to have a PhD to stay in the Air Force, there wouldn't BE any impending pilot shortage. They are doing it to themselves. We are doing it to ourselves. Has anyone seen my reflective belt? Edit: STS. Also, 31 Dec 2012 DOR...freedom!
  6. Outstanding tribute. Him Him.
  7. 500-600 hr boost. Let me know if you decide to come our way! Huggy, when are we going to get together for a beer? Was good seeing you yesterday at the 489th.

  9. "The Archangel and the Oxcart". Not necessarily about the U-2, and (imo) poorly edited, but some good reading about the A-12, and the aircraft leading up to it (including the U-2).
  10. Here's one from back before cameras were banned... It's a 2-for-1.
  11. Looks like we just found our next batch of MC-12 "volunteers"...at least until it transitions to AFSOC/ANG/whatever else, or cut in favor of preds/reapers/whatever else.
  12. C'mon...if we were limited to 1.5, we'd never truly know how horribly these guys land.
  13. Crossflow opportunities will be available just as in every other platform. There's no such thing as "permanent" anymore. The one-and-done program will be around for a while too, but the transition has begun.
  14. No, but I did one before destroying the shitter.
  15. On a related note...on my flight yesterday (MC-12) I noticed a newly installed G-meter.
  16. After making multiple comments regarding this topic, then subsequently erasing them, I'll just say this: My SQ/CC kept it vague, and said that as long as we abide by the King Air POH regarding prohibited maneuvers, we'll be fine. No further comments from me, except to say that I don't teach, nor do I advocate barrel rolls in the MC-12W. BL, I want the crews I send downrange to return home with their wings and their asses intact.
  17. I imagine he would reply "That's classified. GFY".
  18. He should still be downrange.
  19. This is my new grill. Not infrared but that's ok. It's a Huntington Patriot. Relatively new and not many reviews on the interwebs. I went full retard and spent the $1000 because I grill 3 times a week and wanted a quality product. For a grand, you get a 6 burner grill (4 on the left side, 2 on the right), the side burner for your pot o' beans, and a rotisserie burner that runs horizontally across the back of the left side (4 burner section). The lids are quite heavy, and feel VERY sturdy. There are lights on the top, so you can see your meat in the dark (STS). The propane tank sits on a sliding tray, for ease of replacement when the tank runs dry. I've had this grill for a month, and have thus far been very pleased with the product. Made in the USA. Edit: How does it actually GRILL FOOD, you ask? I haven't had a bad experience yet. Steaks, burgers, pork chops, chicken, kebobs...all turned out fantastic. https://www.huntingtonbbq.com/patriot.html
  20. KennyB, your draft letter pretty much sums it up for me. Did you get that from somewhere, or was it original? Either way, I thought it was great. Copy/pasted to the wife. She might modify it to read from a spouses POV. Cheers.
  21. Retirement pay. Aaaannndddd....go!
  22. Napoleon is spot on. Took test 2 (Course 20) last week, and passed by a slim margin. The gouge is good enough, but I wouldn't cram for just a few hours on test two. Understand the concepts. Took test 3 today, and it was MUCH easier. Scored very well with a minimum of studying. That said, there was much less material to memorize. I think I've already forgotten most of it. Short term memory *flush*.
