  2. Only thing to edit is that t44 s are no longer an option. 2 on the swimming...just get comfortable in the water, after academics are over the school is fun. Right now the rumor on the street is that you need jet grades to go helos....just food for thought Also...don't live on base housing at whiting pines...find some buddies and get an apartment on the beach, you're going to be here for a while
  3. Anyone hear the Donald say today that he wanted to just occupy Iraq again and take all their oil?
  4. Any NSA's/U-28's from the T-1's?
  5. Pensacola Bay Brewery - Lil' Napoleon Rated 2nd Place in a Florida beer tasting festival...lost to a beer from Gainsville...as far as I'm concerned though, Gainsville doesn't actually exist so, so it's the best beer in Florida (Go Noles) Also, it is a Microbrewery that doesn't have their distribution license (which sounds way sketchier than it is) so you buy one of their logo glasses, and get a free 16 oz sample. It is awesome, if you are in the area for water survival @ NAS Pensacola - you should check it out - it is 10 minutes off base.
  6. Interesting on the ACSC, I am halfway done with the Masters through TUI, now know as Trident University for their three pronged approach to academia, so please address them with the proper respect. However, I am in the middle of UPT and didn't intend on taking any more courses till I got winged. I can't imagine that anyone will accept transfer credits from tui, anyone have any idea for options?
  7. "2" Met the dude, his story is incredible.
  8. Looks like we are not getting rid of TIB to save some cash. TIB Recruits New Talent
  9. Maybe things have changed since I graduated 2 years ago, but the AF doesn't care what your major is. If you have a 4.0 they look at it as, hey this kid can learn crap...we can jam whatever we want between his ears (sts). Also, make sure that you are doing things around your det...fastest way to be highly ranked is to look after everyone else first, and do the extra curriculars @ the det.
  10. Last year VT-2 down at whiting flew 1400 sorties on saturdays...enough to complete around 30 studs. The cons of whiting for sure. edit for not writing the right thing the first time.
  11. This makes the dude that brought his kid to the ATC tower clearing people for t/o like a minor infraction
  12. Smokey, Down here at whiting there are some rumors that the Diamond is going to be a thing of the past and you guys are switching over to Cirrus...any word if that is true?
  13. Thoughts on putting on a FPU on base for individuals? I know a few new LT's who could use it after they buy the ludicrous new trucks.
  14. The fouls in the Duke game were also ridiculous
  15. https://finance.yahoo.com/blogs/daily-ticker/budget-buster-pentagon-unable-account-trillions-glain-says-160838112.html Pretty sure this is in the right place.
  16. Are there current bonuses that people would become ineligible for if they signed a new adsc that brought them past the 10 year mark? Not quite sure how those things work and if they even are any right now?
  17. He does know that ABU belts don't double as reflective belts right #fail
  18. Correct me if I am wrong - but wasn't the purpose of all the guard units to be the militia which are what would protect the state from a federal government that had to much control, or at least that was the basic principle? It was the check in the check and balance system. The ANG is an extension of that arm that started with the original militia units that had failed during the Spanish American War and strengthened through the, yes this is legit, the Dick Act.
  19. 2 on that!

  21. Being down at Whiting right now, and having been through IFS a few months ago I feel like I can comment on this. The navy guys that come through down here sit down at API (the AF equivalent of Phase I) THAT is really their first phase of attrition. They have bull crap questions that back you into corners and make you want to pick the wrong option. That's the way they go on it. And the Navy determines their needs as classes roll through based on what we call down here "NSS" scores. Basically a weighted average against the 200 previous dudes that roll through class. Sometimes they will wash out half the class, sometimes 1 will washout. The FBO style and the IFS that the AF has come to know and love are incomparable like Smokey said. The way that I have boiled it down in my own head is that the Navy has different priorities than the AF. AF is about flying. Period end of story. Their biggest expense is flying. (spec war gets what they need but it is tiny compared to some of the other pipelines, so we will reserve that debate for later) The Navy has SWO's they have to train and Submariners and SEALS...the list goes on. It all saps money, and the FBO style is probably a lowest bidder type deal. IFS is supposed to give somebody a particular taste of the types of stressors that they are going to experience, and if you notice to the selectees that are going to IFS right now, have already been screened through ROTC and the Academy and OTS (I think last year there were about 6-9 selectees if that gives you any indication of the caliber of individuals that are getting picked up) Could the training be better @ Pueblo, yes - they could actually train you. But everyone that goes through that school realizes that the individuals there are really trying to see if they can hack it, because the AF is going to dump a crap ton of money into you. The Navy on the other hand, will tell you on the very last day of training (as this has recently been happening due to budget shortfalls throughout the squadrons and I'm sure for other reasons that are above my pay grade) thanks for playing, but this isn't for you. "yeah we know we have put you through the entire t-6 primary training, but you aren't good enough..standby for reclass". That's just the way that we all have to look at it. We can't compare the numbers that each program are washing out, and we really can't even look at the numbers that IFS is washing out, unless we include all the commissioning source folks that didn't get picked up for UPT. Sorry for the long post, but IFS is a good program and worth the money. Can't do IFS, Primary will be four punches to the nuts instead of one.
  22. Sweet...how many more years till we see it fly off the carrier? over under on 5?
  23. Mad Dog - 2 ... sts AEWingsMN - I believe they are cutting the commissary right now anyways...so I don't think they will care, it will save them cash (I believe there is a bill on the house floor right now trying to get rid of them)
  24. All I can say is that I don't want it to go the way of the B-2 so that we have a few billion dollar fighters..
