But on the other hand it shows how easily the FBI can be duped and that was probably the national security issue the "professionals" were worried about.

So some Democrats did not want Trump to be president. I'm Shocked! Other news water is still wet.

When they got back from the desert it usually took 12 hours of hard scrubbing to get them clean. Don't know what the standard is now?

Back in the late 90's we were using enlisted Aircrew to help wash E-3's, now that was some world class bitching.

I'm sure the word shithole was uttered when the white house press corp who followed Dubya to Crawford Tx when they started to bitch about no Starbucks for miles.

They will do what they always do, start shooting protesters, hard liner thugs going house to house terrorizing Persian Joe Six packs and their families. Only chance of change if young officers in the Army and Air Force say enough and neutralize the Revolutionary Guard the Mullahs muscle. What we can do in Iraq is to take on Iranian back Shiites who said they want to go after our guys who helped them with Isis. If Iraqis start killing Americans I see a pivot toward a independent Kurdistan armed to the teeth. Turkey won't risk locking horns with a NATO ally.

Air Force to begin testing enlisted pilots

Then why are they taking kids straight out of basic, most just left High School and we all know the public school system does not get kids ready for college level work. Will they freeze out 7 level folks who most already have some college or a degree to just to make sure the young 18 year old are set up to fail so they can back to Congress and say we tried it and it doesn't work. Maybe we should look at the Israeli system of pilot selection where they look at the whole countries age specific population , service is mandatory, pick the best ones even though they only had 2 years in the infantry and get it over with mentality. The ASVAB would be a good metric to use like it is used for every other AFSC. Also would it be a total waste of money to send students through the training and completion of it just to say we changed our minds your going back to finance? What happens if they find the kid is exceptional, will he be regulated to the right seat his whole career? Will the AF make them Warrants? Can they transfer to the Army if the AF kills whole thing so their flight training does not go waste? What is the cost now per student? -

Hmmh, You must think getting an A&P is a piece of cake and it only takes a year of formal training to produce a fully qualified Crew Chief and or specialist. -
Duh, I stand corrected, Liquid oxygen has a density of 1.141 g/cm3 (1.141 kg/L or 1141 kg/m3) and is cryogenic with a freezing point of 54.36 K (−218.79 °C; −361.82 °F) and a boiling point of 90.19 K (−182.96 °C; −297.33 °F) at 101.325 kPa (760 mmHg). It's great for cooling down six packs also.

Navy T-45 and Vance T-6's having OBOGS issues , The F-22 also had this issue. I think the big differences between the LOX and OBOGS issues are the mx practices. Any time a component of a LOX system was replaced it required a purge of the entire system. Hot purges for Lox converters and build up and vent valves and cold purges for regulators, lines and hoses. Plus purges were also a time compliance item. Plus LOX has the deep respect of anybody who handles it, -495F grabs your attention. Unfamiliar on mx practices of OBOGS but I wonder if future purity tests should be done during periodic intervals.

The last time we went on witch hunts the mx folks at Spangdahlem stopped signing anything off on jets and brought flying to a stop, caused one Crew Chief to commit suicide after he got charged with manslaughter by a over zealous JAG.

Well if any good comes from this it might get through to the USAF office dewelers that not doing your jobs has serious reprecussions.

Not a lawyer but that is not the Judges job to do the defendants lawyers job by passing on a appeals process to lower his sentence.

He will be treated as the flavor of the month by the liberal rags. I bet he will be signing huge advances for books and movie deals and get all the Starbucks coffee he can drink for free. Manning and himself will be appearing as husband and wife at Gay pride events. This is what happens when you lower enlistment standards to fill the ranks, hell he washed out of Coast Guard boot camp but made it to Sgt in the Army ,WTF.

If the MEC had a internal defect it my not show up during a ground run. If we change a MEC, mechanical engine control, we do ground checks such a basic leak check and also if it makes power and accelerates in within time limits. Most ground engine runs at high power are kept below 5 minutes due to the high EGT. Its a little more complicated with a multi engine jet since all engines need to be equal in reading and throttle alignment. I'm a big jet guy so not familiar of how they test run Vipers or if its done off the jet at a test cell then installed. Big jet engines are all tested at Tinker then shipped out and are not test celled until it goes back to Tinker. Some KC-135's still have the original CFM-56's on them that were installed by Boeing when they were converted from A/Q to R/T's back in the 80's.

"According to the investigation report, the engine was improperly assembled due to procedural failures on the part of the Commodities Maintenance Squadron at the Air Logistics Complex in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma." I'm shocked , shocked I tell you. Maybe the military should start buying its parts from FAA/PMA certified repair stations. It's getting to the point now that I trust canned parts more off another jet than a new one out of a box repaired at any of the 3 ALC depot's. It's all a numbers game and most supervisors integrity is suspect.

Wing Kings were laying serious cash down on bets with other Wing Kings. At a newcomers brief at Mildenhall the Wing CC gave his spiel then told me to stand up and asked if I ever played. Next thing I know I'm suited in pads for practice that evening, I loved it. I heard the German bases were raiding Army barracks for players, it seemed the the German bases had huge O and D lines than the UK bases. It wasn't fair that Woodbridge Bentwaters had Chad Henning suiting up for them. Did that guy even fit in a A-10.

My take on the whole thing from a NFL fans perspective. I'm grumpy old Crew Chief/A&P who is tired of constantly being brow beat every time I have a opposing view from the left. The term racist and bigot have lost all meaning in today's debate since it is used by weak minds who don't have a decent counterpoint. So I turn on the TV on a Sunday afternoon to watch some football. I used to play in High School and USAFE in the 80's when every base fielded a tackle football team, great times. I just want to watch football and not be lectured by guys who have always been on the wrong side of a conversation with a cop. I have been pulled over for your average traffic infraction but never had a bad encounter, is it because I'm white or is it I just cooperated and said I brain farted. The NFL is entertainment short and simple, I want to root for my team or watch some well played games. Most of the times now even without the kneel downs the product is just not good with the stoppages of play, constant penalties and crass advertising. Now you got black players whooping it up when they destroy a white player, I didn't put up with it on active duty and sure don't want to see on my TV. Now if these players are serious they need some skin in game away from the playing field, some give back with their foundations but most these guys could start setting the example by being decent fathers, husbands and friends and stop acting like thugs between Sundays. Start incentives for good behavior for inner city kids who get good grades and come to games as their guests etc. Now get off my grass.

Came across this and seemed relevant to this thread. https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/13486/retired-raf-tristars-will-get-new-life-as-contracted-aerial-refuelers Just wonder how many parts are left for a L-1011.

Always wanted to learn to fly but life got in the way. Every once in awhile I help a friend out and do annuals on GA aircraft. Knowing the MX side and the cost of it all to make a puddle jumper airworthy kind of makes it unattractive. But I never got the training you guys got on Uncle Sam's dime , myopia, so I will never know. Besides you Airline guys have a better union than the A&P's so your incomes are better than mine so GA flying is a option.

It's too bad Boeing used to be a good aerospace company, now it's just a corporation run by MBA's who just want maximum return on investment and answers to nobody but Wall street.

Use the 737 top half of the fuselage mated with the new tooled 707 lower half add body tanks and plumbing. Use same landing gear as the R model. Try and slap some sense into engineers and procurement to use the KISS method. Not too much of a fan of the boomer not having to look at his receivers through his Mark 1 eyeballs.

Boeing should have just have offered new build KC-135 super max's instead of trying to reinvent the wheel, I'm 54 and already told the 20/30 somethings in 135 post dock where I work at Tinker that I will be long retired and buried before the last KC-135 is parked permanently at AMARC.

If you enlist and go into MX, be the best damn Crew Chief you can be, it will help you be a better pilot and officer. If your there as a means to an end, it will be sniffed out almost immediately . Remember your package goes through the MX Sq commander for signatures, if you don't give a damn about us why would we give a damn about you. On a side note, us MX folk love it when we see one of our own jump through the hurdles to pin on pilot wings to get to fly the thing we work on. Myself if would have had better vision in 1980, (nearsighted grizzly bear) I would have went to college instead of enlisting and went for a commission and a pilot slot.
