I came across this for all you SAC guys who flew KC-135A's in late 60's and early 70's. NKAWTG.

At looking at the F22 picture and I have some experiance with the jet he appears to be standing on the crew entry ladder and in the foreground you can see the fuel moosehead hooked to the SPR which is out of focus. It has to be at civilian field because at a USAF base POL will not ever pump gas with that many nonessential personnel in the refuel area. Probably a airshow, you ever hardly see BDU's anymore unless it is a CAP meeting. Looking at those CCT awards ceremony pictures I wonder if the Senior standing in front of a display case along with a Chief and Col has the same build as me, which means he gets crapped on the waist measurment with the new ht and wt standards. I wonder if their CC's look the other way for these guys who are in their 40's but in superb shape? With age you don't have the body of a 21 year old marathon runner at 48, I used to.

I don't know if I should put this on history Friday or here, but looking at the picture on this link of a RAF Lightning final moments before impact in a present tense and if I was there it would have been WTF. Also the pictures on this flickr link are quite interesting if you like aviation history.

And we think our procurement process is broken...

The base Comet airframes were all differant from each other making each MRA4 handmade, worse that what we went through with the JStars with different 707-300's all being built to their original owners specifications. They tryed the same thing with the Nimrod for AEW platform which was a disaster which they ended up buying the E-3D. -
Anyone know someone doing the Iraqi T-6 IP 365s ?

ehh, just bribe them. -
Thats what you get when you have a uniform wear tested by a bunch of AFMC office workers.

Definitely they have Caravans, their new builds have come thru TIK from Wichita for a gas and go on their way to Florida for mods, can't comment on the 172's. -
Well I started it out "the old story".

Sounds like the old story of how the Russians were looking to solve the problem of a pen that writes in zero gravity. NASA spent thousands and the Russians solved it by using a pencil.

Came across this link of some pictures and transcript of yesterdays launch at Vandenburg. Looking at the pictures I am wondering the pucker factor of the launch controller who had his finger on a self destruct button. Looking at the pics on the link you can see a fire at a seam on one of the external boosters and later you see a fire just above one of the engines. Hopefully there are some guys with knowledge with these monsters on this forum. https://www.spaceflightnow.com/delta/d352/status.html

Word of caution from a father who has been there and done that, I hanged some planes in my sons room and they did not make it through one deployment while was gone. Kids being curious will want to touch and play with said planes. I suggest if you can find them maybe an indestructable star wars toys hanging up there, they are built to be handled by 3 year old boys. My suggestion is to get some fishing line and picture hooks and tie the fishing line to the landing gear and hang them nose high at 12 oclock with landing gear resting on the wall along the top of the wall like a border. It comes out good and should last until they are 6 when they figure out they can throw stuff and shoot down acft and make them go boom. Oops it is easier with tail draggers to put the tail at 12 oclock along the wall.

All-Seeing Blimp Could Be Afghanistan’s Biggest Brain

Technically wouldn't it be in Pashtun even though most of them are illiterate maybe Arabic for those hard core Al Quieda still left in the theater. -
I remember back in the late 80's guys going to do C-12 jobs trained mx/ops at ADW to get certified on the C-12, is that how its still done?

Military Commission Recommends Changes on Women in Combat
Prosuper replied to nsplayr's topic in General Discussion
If they open up the infantry will they make them also sign up for selective service ( the draft)on their 18th birthday before they can apply for anything with the word Federal in front of it. Yes I am for equal opertunity but also equal standards. Equal standards for any AFSC or MOS. -
Took care of him 2 years ago during our bases airshow, he told me he had only had a few flights left with the heritage flight then. I think the FAA or USAF has max age requirement on that type of flying.

Doesn't AAFES have a price beat or match program to beat anything off base?

CWO's that would be great for alot of AF MSgts that don't play the Chief game of stabbing thy fellow Airman in the back. By the time you make MSgt you don't touch a toolbox again unless your in Gaurd/Reserve. Sounds like a good way to keep guys around who know how to get shit done. How is the USN/USMC QA program, does it get tasked by Sq CC's or or the Air Wing, do you staff it with competent troops or little pricks you want to get rid of. Alot of USAF MX officers are prior E's who came out of mx but some of them have no mx background when a 7 level NCO is explaining what is wrong with a jet and the T.O. is not helping except for the wiring schematic.
-
Well if the pilots owned the process they would be more concerned on how mx is done than the color of PPT slides. Plus they would feel the same pain if they are out there 0300 on Xmas day trying to fix a nagging NMC write up. I think it would make them have more of a clue when they hit the O-5,6,7 level since most MX officers don't make it that far.
-
I'm a contractor now but still work with my boys, a SSgt just lost a stripe because a Amn had a DSV and he happened to be on the other side of the acft when it happened at a deployed location. I like the USN/USMC idea where pilots take full ownership of the whole process and get rid of some of these AFMC shoes who's only purpose is to order up briefings on how to stop acft from breaking, easy don't fly them.

Yes lets be perfect, I want 100% compliance, who put garbage in the garbage can. I have actually been written up for having FOD in my FOD can right after a FOD walk. I have been written up during a document review (781 series) for a greasy thumbprint on the binder and had to answer a QA fail report for it. Why was that takeoff late, because QA wanted to do a eval on the crew chief right during the red ball, plus the pilot had to fill out a police report when the Pro Super, Crew Chief and Specialist launch truck gave the QA inspector a blanket party. Since a QA fails mean a loss of a stripe now. Preflights take 3 days now because everybody is scared QA will burn there house down. Maybe we should go back under OP's. I think I worked fro that Col once.
