  1. We had 2 weeks from being syllabus complete and graduation. That two weeks could have been spent with each student getting a crash course in what to expect in their future platform. I hope that happens someday. It'll make the FTUs feel more confident in the product they're getting and students will be more prepared for the ftu.
  2. Bump. Any word from the FTUs as to how students are doing coming out of the new CSO program? Ive heard rumors, but nothing has been confirmed. An example being that there is a serious lack of manual mission planning capability at KLIT. (that's probably the best ICAO identifier ever). Also, BUFF guys are figuring out whether they're going nav or EWO at the school house. Same with RC-135s.
  3. Just bought it. I've discovered how I'll be spending my casual time.
  4. Whoops. Too much free beer.

Lots of eagles. Their mafia was out in force tonight.
  6. Thanks man. PM sent.
  7. Ah yes, the proverbial 'it depends'... Thanks for the heads up. I think at this point in our lives renting makes the most sense due to the fact that we don't know how long we'll be there and getting tons more debt in a volatile market just sounds stupid to me.
  8. So I'm kind of a retard when it comes to buying houses and stuff. Don't you want to buy when things are low? Or should I think long term about not being able to sell when we PCS? Also, just waiting for Rosetta stone to arrive in the mail.
  9. Just found out that I'm moving to DM. The wife and I are looking at living downtown near UofA. Any thoughts? Google maps says its not too far from base. Anyone have any info on what teaching jobs look like or just quality of life in the school system there? Any info will help!
  10. Wednesday is quite lame. We have a commanders call at 0715 tomorrow too. Looking forward to seeingnsome very hungover LTs tomorrow.
  11. Here is 11-05's drop: C-130 Yokota Buff Buff Buff C-130 TN Guard Buff MC-130P Eglin EC-130 EWO DM C-130 Little Rock C-130 Pope U-28 Hurlburt Field RC-135 Offut Buff F-15E Seymour-Johnson Buff MC-130P Mildenhall Buff B-1 Buff Buff C-130 Minneapolis Reserves In all a total of 9 Buff's. Pretty nutty if you ask me. Good luck to all and congrats 11-05! This is also the first U-28 drop out of the new school. Hopefully we see some more. 11-06's drop comes in about 3 weeks.
  12. No navs on j model papas? That's interesting. Was that the plan all along?
  13. I'm pretty sure there was a kc-135 to McConnell in there. But I'm not sure.
  14. EDIT: Married folks have the option to live off base or on base if married on base housing is available.
  15. Any word as to how the Nav FTU is going to change with the new pipeline coming out of Pensacola? Some say it isn't, some say it'll be much longer. Any syllabus changes?
  16. As disgusting as what those people say is, it is absolutely the right decision by the supreme court. That decision highlights why the United States continues to exemplify democracy and due process.
  17. It still kind of is. We're getting good training, but you can tell theres a whole lot of 'why are we doing this this way?'. It'll be interesting to see what happens in the future and how the FTUs react to the new guys coming out of here.
  18. Its kind of humorous actually. Many studs down here still say "nav" school. Instructors from the various platforms have to catch themselves from not saying, EWO, WSO or nav. I think they think its dumb, and most of the students down here do as well. We have an understanding that the training we're going through is a universal CSO program, but when we get out of here we will be called whatever 12xxxers have been called forever. I dont think anyone but higher leadership is getting butthurt over the situation (or lack thereof...) of who calls who what. It seems to me from an outside perspective that changing the name of a nav/EWO/WSO to a CSO is more about the ego of the leadership.
  19. Besides tasting like childrens cough medicine, its really not all that bad. All the trouble comes from when people consume too much of it. I've found that a single four loko is plenty for a night. I've always felt awful the next morning though. And its not just colleges and Hurlburt who have banned it. Entire states are jumping on the bandwagon. https://www.aolnews.com/surge-desk/article/four-loko-banned-by-washington-state-liquor-control-board/19711427
  20. I guess this is just one of those situations that will happen in a career that you just have to nut up and get through it. Overall, I understand that getting my wings out of here is a license to learn. I know that I'll get excellent training in whatever platform I end up on and I will be able to be a part of the fight and do my job well. It really is just a matter of timing. If I had graduated a year later, this would be a totally different program for me. Being a test subject sucks, but someones got to do it. FTU guys: Please keep us posted on the development of the training pipeline with the new guys coming out of here. I'm very curious to see how you see/use us in the future.
  21. So I'm a CSO stud in the new program here at NAS Pensacola. To keep this simple, I am just so curious as to how effective this program and my training really is. A couple weeks ago we had a brief from the CC in which he stated that due to syllabus/equipment constraints we will only be 30% effective compared to the original plan, thus being only 30% of what the FTUs are expecting from us. WTF?? Can anyone from the FTUs or current instructors shed some light on the grand scheme of things here? I know its my job to shut up and color most of the time, and I think I do a pretty decent job at it, however I'm a little bit concerned as to whats going to happen to me. As an example, we got a brief from the RJ guys yesterday who were here for the air show. A question was asked about if we track RJs what are we when we show up? Do we just get to choose whether we're gonna be an EWO or a Nav? Do they pick based on performance in school (which, I will remind you will only be 30% effective)? I will say that I'm enjoying flying and learning so much. The T-6 is a sweet aircraft and I'm looking forward to what will come in our schooling. I guess I'm just frustrated about the lack of planning here and it pisses me off that we are kept in the dark so much about what will happen to us and our careers. Also, whats big blue expecting from us? What are drops gonna look like starting this April? I know plenty of guys cream their jeans at the prospect of a Mudhen, and I think a lot of the training is catered towards that track, but I know the vast majority of us will not go that direction. Sorry for the rant.
  22. Any word on the MC/HC crew will look like? Navs and FE's on board?
  23. I want to start by saying that I'm a new guy in the AF and I dont know much, but down here in Pensacola the Oclub isn't all that bad. I mean, it sure as hell isn't as exciting as it sounds like it has been in the past, or even could be today. However, many of us CSO studs show up for a few beers on Friday night after work/class. It's definitely a great place to get the night started before going downtown and it's a good way for us to hang out with people in other classes. Also, the Air Force takes that place over. There are very rarely any of the Navy/Marine studs who stay past 7 on a Friday. I think thats a good sign. That being said, it could be better. I'm not really looking forward to going to an actual AF base and (not) dealing with the clubs there. From what I gather in the flying world, it's all about squadron bars and hanging with the bros you actually work with on a day to day basis.
  24. The Air Force should invest in auto-tune technology.
