  1. Really, ASBC wasnt all that bad. It was good meeting new people and hanging out with the flight. Of course there was some BS stuff that we had to do, but I really felt that it was a good bridge into active duty, especially after coming off of 6 months waiting to EAD. Apparently the curriculum is changing again for the new classes starting up in a couple weeks. For all those guys going, just go with an open mind, dont worry about the test, get drunk often with your flightmates and try and have a good time. Also, bring LOTS OF STUFF TO DO with you to Blue Thunder. We had our laptops to watch movies, ipods, books, card, etc. You'll have plenty of downtime while youre out there.
  2. Man, I knew it would be a no-go, but still. Im already in touch with local aid groups. It just sucks having to stay home and watch this crap on TV, especially when I'm doing NOTHING here at home station. I guess this is what I'll have to get used to.
  3. First, I want to say that my thoughts and prayers are with the people of Haiti. They already had it hard enough and this disaster will do nothing but make their lives even more difficult than it already is. That being said, any word on what the Air Force is doing for relief efforts? Who gets to go? Is it possible for a casual LT to volunteer to go down there and help out for a few days? Keep these people in your thoughts...
  4. I must say that it's absolutely fascinating watching new ROTC LTs try and get out of that ROTC mindset. There are about 80 ROTC kids waiting around here just itching for something to do, so what they choose is to harp on each other and talk a lot of sh!t about their peers. Its going to be interesting watching their progression into the AD Air Force. I have faith though.
  5. So, from what Im gathering here is that you gotta make the best of whatever you get. Every guy who has posted on here seems to love their aircraft. Thats good stuff that y'all take so much pride in what you do. That's the type of attitude that helps the young guys like me get and stay excited.
  6. no seriously. I just read that article on the Vance website. I had it copied and pasted for you guys, and I'm really glad I didnt have to post it on here. SOOOO effing funny. I'm a brand new CGO, and I cant help but thinking that I signed up for this BS. What have I done to myself?!
  7. I just got to PCola as well. I'm really excited about starting CSO school and all that stuff. From what they're telling us its going to be a brand new syllabus, which they're not even finished writing yet. Only 12 of the instructors are qualified on the T-1, so they have a whole lot of work to do before the first class starts. There are new sims for the T-6, T-1 and a brand new EWO sim for us down here too. All of us should be done with IFS by mid-May. Until then, there's a whole lot of hurry up and waiting going on. They dont have many casual jobs for us to do, so I've been playing a lot of Assassins Creed 2 and Modern Warfare 2 these days. Most guys are really worried that they're not gonna get F-15Es, which is kinda funny. There's gonna be a bunch of competitive dudes hanging around this place. I, myself am really looking forward to AFSOC, especially the U-28. The fact that I dont know anything about it and cant really know much about it makes me want to fly it! Any AFSOC platform will do for me. What do you guys have to say about the B-1 community? How is the mission? Deployments?
  8. I really think that this whole discussion is kind of asinine. I'd have to say that yes, it is a matter of positive public perception to see THEIR military out and about in the uniform. Of course there are going to be those that abuse the rules and go to the mall on a Sunday in their ABU/ACUs, but overall people need to be given the benefit of the doubt and we should all mind our own business. I think an exception to this rule is that if I see someone wearing the uniform wrong or disrespecting it I will not hesitate to correct them. And I'm pretty positive that I'm not the only one who'd do that. Oh, and safety on that dick talk Scooby...
