Ya the pen flap was never a "fighter thing" is was always just "the right thing to do." But like the mach tuck on the hat (which was originally a heavy thing) if we start calling it a fighter thing, it will become that. In fact, our life support automatically cuts that flap off when you give them a new flight suit. In all honestly though, i really asked the question initially because I thought it was just assumed that all pilots cut off the flap. To see that there are pilots that defend not doing it, is just shocking to me. Ya its a small issue, but so is wearing reflective belts....and I dont do that (Scooter, you are still cool)

Hopefully, the O-5's are involved on the aircrews' side. If so...that could be a good development. I think all non-aircrew needs to get a mandatory briefing (for once, a briefing that benefits US) on crew rest, and how important it is. It will also take aircrews refusing to fly because their crew rest was interrupted...which takes balls, but thats what its gonna take. Thanks for the story

I am at an unnamed tanker base for a couple days in the northwest (happens to be co-located with the survival school-but Ill keep it unnamed) and have noticed an absolutely disturbing trend amongst aircrew. Almost every person I have seen, still has their pen flap on their sleeve attached. WTF?????!!!!!! When did this bulls@#$ start happening? And why, oh God why, have we given up the most basic right of any rated donner of the flight suit to cut that worthless piece of forskin off our bag? PEOPLE PLEASE!!! If you have a single flight suit with that worthless piece of fabric dangling off it, for the love of all that is holy and good, and an affront to pencil pushers everywhere, CUT IT OFF AND BEG GOD FOR FORGIVENESS. The fact that I have to address this as the defended for the way, is just depressingly sad. That is all.

Why? Because you are ACTIVE DUTY. THe Guard is turning gay too, but we are still about 5 years behind. On a side note, Im getting ready to go on a 1 month Guard appreciation trip with AD to Manas. Talking to folks with our unit already there... general order number 1: No sex in AOR. I dont even OWN a reflective belt. Guess I gotta get one. [ 23. I havent flown a PAR since pilot training....ASR's i have. I hate 'em! Dude, Im not sure there is any brite left on the island after my deployment here. It makes Corona look like a gay. But you can rest assured Ill be drinking whats left until 9pm tonight (9am takeoff on new years is also a gay)

So maj jill metzger has a very strong part to play in this strained relationship, yet we dont hear anything about it/her anymore. I think she should apologize to the whole country on national TV for taking her problems and blaming them on their country.

Toro, never have i done a PP for a fighter. I did about 5 this semester including 3 over the last week for the RC guys. Its really not that common.

Ya no kidding. That is absolutely, utterly, hilarious. And thats why we have to create an environment where someone that makes that kind of decision is absolutely ridiculed and will never make that kind of a decision again. IMHO;)

One advantage of active duty: You get to pick your airframe if you are good enough and try hard enough, and most importantly arent a douche and work with your brothers. I went to UPT wanting to fly one kind of plane. Half way through I wanted to fly another kind. Its a good way to go, I wouldnt trade my guard slot for anything, but as the others said...you can always come this way later (sts)
