  1. You didnt go against the AMC grain. The AMC grain is beginning to oppose legitimate benefits we are owed. The nerve you touched was related to the fact the the Shoe Clerks who are upset because they dont deploy and get per diem are trying to put aircrew in the same boat. Trust me, the 3.50 rule is beginning to creep in everywhere...including ALASKA. Starting to get a little crazy. So, when they dont give someone legit per diem and opt for the 3.50 rule, it gets a tad annoying. It just seems like (especially as a guard guy) you have to absolutely baby sit your pay. I can honestly say about 30% of my pay checks have an error...honest to God. And it is never in my favor. It gets complicated when you deal with type 1 vs 2 BAH, but hey that another discussion.

  3. According to some who served with Jill at Manas she "stayed on the base and ran all the time," "never talked about her husband," and was "at times, a strict and unreasonable bureaucrat." SHOE CLERK
  4. "2" to gearpig. Chuck, would filing a missed meal form work in that case? After all, meals were missed if they werent provided. Id give that a try, and attach an explaination about the chow hall being gone, etc. Ya this trend is starting to suck, as well as the "share a room" trend. After all, for every 50,000 people we screw over, we get a shiny new plane!
  5. Good job dude. WHat that proves is just how widespread baseops is, and the impact it can have. Among those of us on here, probably every squadron around the country and world is represented somehow. We can make real progress in this "war" but we all have to do our part
  6. Ya, TDY's are one thing, but around the squadron is another. People are just scared cuz we have a balls ton of LT Col's now, which is when they SHOULDNT care anymore.
  7. Oh ya, cut your pen flap, wear moral patches, and roll up your sleeves. Small victories!
  8. Ya, IN my squadron, we are alot of partiers (milwaukee...we invented beer) however, about 5 years ago, some army pukes f'ed up on the state level, and the state TAG issued a blanked no bar except at the club policy. So we have a club, which is nice, but its not pilot eccentric. So we go there, talk about flying, and everyone *****es because all we do is talk about flying. IN my wing, the pilots dont run the place...because you have people that have been around 40 years, so power ebbs and flows alot more rapidly. We had a beer machine and a bar, but it was shut down after the TAG memo. Now the powers that be dont wanna sign their name to reopening a bar, because 50 people will die if they do (of course, thats their dreams.)
  9. Mine are impacted and I fly.
  10. Oh ya. Obviously its important to indoctrinate new guys when they get to the squadrons. Fighter squadrons seem to still be pretty good at that, but heavy squadrons arent. The CGO's need to take the new guys under their wings, and stress the importance of culture, and not getting spun up over stupid staff issues. The goal is to be a good pilot and kill the enemy (even for heavy pilots) not to make 0-6. IMHO
  11. Feel free to delete this if you deem it inappropriate. However, many of the posts we have somehow end up showing our disdain for how the new and sensitive AF has shed the traditions of the past. Somehow, we have to begin to swing the momentum back to our favor. What are some suggestions? Realistically? I think just by people talking about it, and doing so publically in the squadron, we can drum up momentum. When folks dont say anything because someone might disagree/get offended, or there is some 0-6 in the room, we do no one any favors. In my squadron, we are pushing to bring a bar back, since it was supposedly canxed a few years ago. While that is gonna be a tough battle, even the attempt is swinging the momentum a tad, and discussion is being had. The big issue is realizing that its not a lost battle. But it will be lost if we dont do anything, and time continues to separate how it was, and how it is. So, anyone have any ideas or thoughts on the subject? "Culture is important..." Someone important Stiffler
  12. No man, you are pretty much screwed unfortunately. You are right, AF comes first. I had a hard time getting out of UPT (and that is easier) for a cousins funeral. So...you are SOL. Sorry. I missed good pals weddings more than once
  13. Come on. Just because someone (a crew chief in your example) uses gouge, doesnt mean they cant fix the plane. A pilot will never be able to get out of pilot training without being good...cuz he still has to fly. And homewith4, ever read any of the questions we had to memorize? Stuff that has absolutely no relevance and is only meant to harrass. Until you sit in a flight room 12 hours a day, and see how hard we DO work and how sharing gouge and stuff really ISNT cheating, then you dont have much of a leg to stand on.
  14. Then the Bro network needs to kick in and find out who did this, and deal with it in squadron bars
  15. Pilot candidates face cheating probe By Erik Holmes Staff writer Pilot candidates from the 80th Flying Training Wing at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, are being investigated for cheating, a base spokesman said Wednesday. The number of officers under investigation, their ranks and the nature of the allegations are not yet known, said Maj. Michael Young, the base spokesman. “They just initiated an investigation,” he said, “so it is really in its infancy.” Young said the wing commander alerted the base detachment of the Air Force Office of Special Investigations to the allegations on Nov. 3. The OSI began an investigation that same day, he said. All the officers being questioned are in the same undergraduate pilot training class, Young said. The 80th Flying Training Wing conducts the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training Program, the world’s only internationally manned and managed undergraduate pilot training program. The wing has about 200 students. — The Associated Press contributed to this report.
  16. We were taking ROTC kids out to the 37 for their gay little Jet-O rides, and my buddy comes back and says "dude, remember that cute girl I just took out to the jet?" Me: Ya dude she was hot Him: Ya, i think I forgot to fasten her leg straps together (Basically her leg straps are now dangling) Sure enough when she came back, got out of the jet smiling, he leg straps were dangling. So if she would have ejected, it would have been "Bye bye miss shoe-clerk-to-be" I forgot my pubs kit once, got yelled at, only to realize that I was sitting on it when I stood up at the end of the flight.
  17. I left my pins in during a formation....hooked. Balls. I was solo in the area and hadn't flown aero in a while (it was at the end of tweet and I got a free solo ride). I decided to do a split S as I was coming to the end of my area, and thought that the parameters were 220 Knots and 0-90 on the throttle. Its actually 120 knots. Well, I did the maneuver, and Immediately almost G-loced myself, and ended at teh dead bottom of the area. That was pretty retarded
  18. But according to the AF times, congress gave the AF a check to buy "more F-22's than originally planned" so that the next war against communism we have over 300 of these awesome fighters to throw at them. After all, we've been losing WAY TOO MANY F-16's and A-10's
  19. Sweet, thanks.
  20. You and I have a joint ORI? Ill make sure im gone for that. ;)
  21. No its not a bad attitude. I am well aware of what I am getting into, and have that background. Im just not looking forward to the idea of juggling law school and being a Guard pilot.
  22. Anyone here tackled a law degree as a Guard or reserve pilot? Im in that position to start next year, and wondering how it all works out. Were you able to keep the flying to a sat. level? Not looking forward to it by the way, but something to fall back on!
  23. https://www.herald-review.com/articles/2006...ews/1018165.txt DECATUR - Mike Copsy thought an airplane was flying awfully low about midday Monday. Play Video The motorist, who lives in rural Charleston, looked to see if the plane landed safely at Decatur Airport, and he saw smoke. Firetrucks soon arrived three-tenths of a mile from the end of the runway to knock down a blaze. "The engines (of the plane) were still going when they were hosing it down," he said. Two crew members walked away from a crash of a small military trainer jet, said airport director Gene Marcinkowski. One person suffered a broken ankle, and the other was uninjured, Marcinkowski said. The jet, an Air Force Flight Standards Agency C-21, was based out of Will Rogers Air Guard Station in Oklahoma City, OK, according to a news release from the Air Force 375th Airlift Wing. The aircraft was performing touch-and-go landing training at the airport. A board of officers will investigate the crash, the release stated. Marcinkowski said he had no other details about the crash. "Everybody saw it happen, and they responded," he said. "That's the way it's supposed to happen. And people did walk away, that's the best part." Marcinkowski credited rapid response from several groups, including Decatur Airport fire units and firefighters from Decatur and Mount Zion. Civilian and military emergency crews also responded to the scene. "The fire was put out; it was a pretty decent fire," Marcinkowski said. "I was really pleased with the fire response all around from all the units, particularly airport units who were Johnny-on-the-spot." The airport was locked down by local law enforcement temporarily, but Marcinkowski said it was reopened by early afternoon. It's not unusual for military groups to do exercises at the airport, including landing, taking off and flying around the facility, he said. Damage to the airport was minimal. "It is amazing," Marcinkowski said. "I would say there is zero damage out there, lights included. They kind of slid through everything. That's the design of an airport, where they can slide and be as much intact as they can without rolling or tumbling." Several curious onlookers came to nearby country roads, and several brought binoculars to get a good look at the efforts of emergency responders. 24. You know, I agree with all of this of course. But I know that alot of people that complain on a board, are the first to take their "morale" patches off or pull their sleeves down because they wanna make rank. Until we all just give a gigantic middle finger to the "shoe clerks" and rebel, it will go on. There are alot of folks that read this, lets all pledge here to fight the system. Its even happening in the Guard, but we are still 10 years behind active duty shananigans.
  25. Just sent this letter to our friend: As a real pilot in the military, I use Baseops.net everytime i am in a strange location for weather and Notams. It is an awesome resource, and I would suggest spending your spare (or government time) on things that pertain to your job and life, not ours. Relax dude. Life is too short to get spun up about meaningless, little things. There is a war after all. Adam
