What happens if you drop out of/ Fail UPT?
raimius replied to RANDOMDUDE13's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, low UPT washout rates is true. If you want it and study for it, they'll probably find a way to get you through. If you do washout or DOR, it depends on the style of your leaving and what the AF needs at the time. If you just quiet quit (stop studying, etc), your IPs will probably hate working with you and give you zero support...sucks to suck. If you try hard, but just can't make it work (rare), you'll probably get good recommendations for your next AFGSC. If you DOR for a well thought through reason, you'll probably get support. If you DOR a month into flying because it's "too hard" and "too much work"...yeah, IPs aren't going to have sympathy. -
...and the Senate Parliamentarian ruled we can't get rid of taxes on NFA arms in a budget bill ... apparently taxes are off limits in budget bills now...

When both Star Wars and Top Gun 2 called it. 😂

Well, Iran has been organizing, training, and equipping proxy forces to attack US personnel for decades. They also launched IRBMs at US forces a couple years back. They had also been blaming us for Israeli strikes and threatening more action. Not sure how much this will really increase the threat level... probably some, but not exactly 0 to 100. Deciding when to use military force is also the job of the President (codified since the War Powers Act).

Initial Pilot Training and Future Pilot Training

The staff and lower level leadership will make the numbers work. It's the long term where the truth data becomes apparent. -
Initial Pilot Training and Future Pilot Training

Sounds like a CC who can't quite bring themselves to write the unvarnished truth. Too bad we don't have enough leaders willing to say "Boss, this plan will not work." -
Initial Pilot Training and Future Pilot Training

If you want to be a great pilot, you need to intentionally seek training and experience. Right now, the AF is on a trajectory to give slightly above average training vs the excellent we expected. That doesn't mean you can't get great training from the AF...but it certainly means you will have to search harder and work more. -
Airspace rules, yes, as it would give greater authority to disable offending drones. Operator certificates and transponders? Nah, all that really does is add an extra civil fine/misdemeanor the DOJ can impose after someone conducts an act of war/terrorism. Not effective deterrence.
-
Considering that these types of drones have relatively small payloads, we don't need to build shelters hardened against 500lb bombs. An enclosure that guarantees relatively low levels of protection and standoff would probably render FPV attacks mostly ineffective...and might actually be affordable.

No real dog in this fight, but with all of Pakistan's hypocrisy and Intel support to terrorist organizations...them taking a few Ls would not sadden me.

Seems like they are not having a good cruise.

Clearing traffic on RT4 while landing 33 wasn't the intent of the route, but no one forbid it officially...
-
Yeah, that's pretty bad. The NTSB recommendations make a lot of sense.
-
Sure. Oversimplified, just like the majority of arguments here. What would I do, as king for a day? Sell Ukraine just about anything they want, including our old stock at a discount. "Arsenal of Democracy."
-
Missed the point. I'm saying the outcome was not and is not a foregone conclusion. It does depend on many factors. ...not saying Ukraine will decisively win.
-
How are you not getting the concept that a stronger foreign power can lose to a more committed group on their home turf? Did you miss the past 25 years?
-
Some of them are invisible from more than a hundred yards or so, on NVGs. Aided/unaided composite scan should be emphasized...
-
Do we not do phrasing anymore?!
-
That the some in the CIA predicted Russia's actions does not justify Russia's actions.
-
Y'all need to actually address the topic rather than all this e-pen** measuring.
-
Nope. Composite aided/unaided cross-check is preferable to not seeing things... All it takes is one burnt out street light on a bridge to make NVGs worth it in the city. The helicopter route is MSL, so baro-alt restriction. AGL off the river is usually 70-200, depending on altimeter setting and baro altimeter errors.

Initial Pilot Training and Future Pilot Training

Because if the "idea works" should not be measured on whether we can pay LTS to fly at civilian schools, but by whether that actually produces pilots to acceptable AF standards. (Press X to doubt) -
If only we had an office to ensure everyone had equal opportunities. /S

Hueys have a better GPS than the T-6, and that GPS went out of production in 2009!
