  1. What I've found is helpful is after you put your CAC in, double-click on the ActiveClient in the lower right corner and then double click on personal data. Enter in your pin and then close it. It seems that IE won't pimp you for your pin but once it's in it works fine.
  2. The 11-2kc-135v3: 5.13. Transportation of Pets. Transporting pets (dogs and cats) on aircraft operated by or under the control of AMC in conjunction with the sponsors permanent change of station is authorized. Other pets or animals are normally prohibited, but may be moved according to DODR 4515.13.
  3. W-2's are out... Also, I have had problems with this question time and time again over the past years so I was hoping somebody could provide some insight. I live in Washington but am still a Fl resident (driver's license and car registration) but own a house here and of course my wife/kid are here so what state am I technically a resident of (as far as the IRS is concerned)?
  4. As a SELO and looking through everyone's FEF on the regular, I've seen Q-3's pretty often and you know what my honest opinion is...it doesn't really matter. If you Q3 something and can make it up in other ways (squadron jobs, OPR, past present at future performance, etc...) it all comes out in the wash. Q-3's happen. From what I've seen/heard, if it is for something that needs attention and deseves attention (ie the basics) then it is a bigger deal than if you forgot to tune in a NAVAID or whatever. I've seen CC push hard for guys that want UPT/AETC that have had a Q3 and not so hard for guys that didn't have one. Long story short, it's what the CC/squadron thinks of you. If you are a good guy and a decent stick you will go further than a bag of douche and a great stick any day. Tell your buddy to fix his problem and press on. He's obviously going to deploy a lot and have a job in the squadron since he's AMC so it seems he has a lot of opportunity to show those that matter he's not a Q-3 guy, just a guy that had a bad day. FWIW, EP/EB's always debrief the CC on what happened. Things like the guy was $HIT hot but jacked up the ILS and the guy did well enough to Q1 but needs to be monitored mean more while he's in the squadron than the overall grade.
  5. I think you should listen to your mother. It worked for this guy, it should work for you.
  6. "Flying is hours on hours of boredom climaxed by moments of absolute fear"
  7. So that really is a picture of you next to your name. And I'll this time I thought it was a caveman.
  8. I used this function often but it has been so long since I used the progam that this is all I remember: you right click on the point after it isn entered in your CFP and somewhere in there is an option to reference it off a navaid...good luck.
  9. I had a boss who flew flighters and hurt his back and they crosstrained him into heavies. He did a C17 tour then off to become a squadron commander at a UPT base...pretty nice resume if you ask me.
  10. Currently at the Deid...Tucked in at all times (even in the gym) and salutes. I was at Manas for a few days a month ago and they are the same except you can untuck it in the gym while getting your swell on. As bad as it sounds, it felt pretty good to untuck your shirt while working out since I'm so used to having it tucked in. I actually got called out at the gym here in the Deid by some guy because the back of my shirt was untucked. On a separate note, a buddy of mine was sent back to his dorm room from the chow hall at Manas because they were doing "sock checks" and he had white socks on while in a flight suit.
  11. Anybody got a link to that video I could view from the AOR?
  12. I got tasked with a job the first day I got missioned qualled and checked into the squadron. Within 3 weeks I was the most senior guy there (not rank, but time in the shop) due to a hectic deployment schedule. On the flip side I know other co's who have been there about a year and a half and haven't had a job. When they're not flying they're off. There's always two sides to whether or not you should volunteer for a job, to each his own. I don't mind doing the 830-430 when I'm not flying but there have been times when my buddies are out at the lake on a Tuesday and I'm busy checking my email and playing kitty cannon.
  13. That's the one. Don't let the chips fall where they may, that will screw you everytime. Fight for the B-Dub. Also when I left about a year ago they had just finished a brand new hotel by the Applebees. That could be nice to. Altus off base per diem is just too good not to take advantage of. If you're in Altus you're going to drink, most likely off base, might was well let Big Blue pay for it. That extra $13 +$2 laundry/ day can buy a lot of 3.2.
  14. Scoot, here's my 2 cents. "2" that the Ramada is dingy. The Best Western was where I stayed for almost 5 months when I was there a little under a year ago. Contintental breakfast everyday and a few days a week you had sausage and cheese omlettes. Everyday was B&G and a lot of other things. Also you get 2 free drinks a day at the little hotel bar. They have a pretty decent pool. It's a 7 minute drive to work and you are off base at the end of the day which is kinda nice. You get the $39/day +$2/day for laundry and I got vicinity mileage added to my orders for the 12 or so miles round trip I was driving a day. Came out to around $800 for the trip in mileage along. If you get a non-A that says Ramada, you can still use it at the B-dub as long as the rate is still good. Get the non-A if you can. Weekends in Altus are bad enough but they're even worse if you're on base. Plus you can bring your own TV, hook it up to the outlets in the rooms and get all the paid channels for free.
  15. I had to sign something a few months back asking me if I had any bills between commissioning and entering active duty. They said if I did then I could submit paperwork and I would be reimbursed. From what I understand it was something that has been "meant" to be around but wasn't and the Air Force was actually trying to make it right for those that were affected. I didn't have any bills but I was racking my brain for anything I could think of.
  16. It's like CHS said, take advanced leave while casual. You will have a chance to make it up during UPT and follow on. In case you didn't know you can take more leave than you have (going in the hole) assuming you make it up in the future. I'm sure your CC won't mind a casual guy burning some leave since he obviously knows what little time you'll have in UPT. I never did casual but I'm sure you will be used while your there but not really missed when you're not. Just talk to someone when you get there about your requested leave. I'd start with your flight commander or an ADO rather than the CC, but people are willing to work with you if you give them enough heads up. It's like everyone's said, get it out of your system on casual so you can take your 1+ year of UPT and focus on the tasks at hand.
  17. I'll tell you one thing, even if it is allowed and your flight commander doesn't gripe about your "dangerous and unnecessary" weekend activity, a 5-7 drive is not what people are talking about when they say kick back at the lake with your classmates. Nobody is going to want to drive 5-7 hours unless they have more than 3 days off and it is spring break. Do it before you get in and plan on ending your career in jet ski NASCAR when phase 1 starts. You won't have time when UPT starts. Even if you do, as karma will have it you will have a Monday morning checkride after your weekend race everytime. Pcola is right as well. Weekends in an MWS are a crap shoot. Sometimes it works out and sometimes you find out Friday night you won't be home for a few weeks. Also, stand-up jet ski racing? Really?
  18. Thanks. That was what I was looking for.
  19. I've heard from a few different guys that when in RVSM airspace you should climb/descend at 1000fpm. I can't find any concrete source stating this so I'm wondering if anybody else has heard of this or know where it could be referenced. I understand it makes sense with TCAS and whatnot but I'm just curious if it's strictly a technique. Thanks.
  20. The point of IFS is for this exact situation. From what I understand, that's why they started IFT/IFS was because it was cheaper to spend 4 grand in a 172 to determine if a guy doesn't want to be a pilot as opposed to however much flying around a tweet. My 2 cents.
  21. I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Moose Drool. I'd have to put that in my top 3.
  22. In theory that would be nice and convenient but it could eventually lead to problems. With such an old jet we more often than not have changes to the pubs that need to be posted so I'm sure Stan/Eval doesn't want to run around to each jet to line through a "shall" for a "should" or whatever. Also, we have to check our pubs before we step to make sure we have all of the current changes and also each put as well. Having a missing or outdated pub when we get to the jet could delay our take off because we wouldn't be legal to takeoff without it and then we'd miss another reciever. It's more credible to canx because of maintenance then an outdated pub.
  23. That happened to me on my first PCS. After I commissioned I got sent to Pcola for UPT and did my initial inprocessing a little over a week after arriving which was a few weeks after being on active duty. Between getting back pay from the Air Force, reimbursed for my DITY, DLA, BAH, etc.. they overpaid me. They did exactly what happened to you except I got somewhere around a $70 paycheck. It can be a pain in the A$$ to have them take it out over a few months or however you want them to do it but talk to finance ASAP if you want to go that route.
  24. I got mine (Fairchild) and they gave me no software or anything to get it going. It took me a while but I found all the stuff to get it working so if anybody has any problems PM me.
